‘Yeh bhi jhoot hai, yeh bhi dhokha hai’: Bilawal adamant that Khan will not resign from assemblies

Foreign Minister (FM) and Chairperson of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has predicted that the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, will not resign from assemblies despite his announcement to do so.

Addressing a ceremony held to mark PPP’s 55th foundation day, Bilawal said “Yeh bhi jhoot hai, yeh bhi dhokha hai” (This is also a lie, a betrayal). He claimed that Khan is “lying” as he will not resign from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) assemblies.

“Don’t you remember”, he asked the crowd, “that after PTI resigned from the National Assembly and the by-polls were set to take place, they moved the courts and pleaded that their resignations were just a political stunt”.

During the address, he noted that the army stepped back from politics, “but now, they [puppet politicians] are worried that if the institution has become neutral, then what will become of their politics.”

Bilawal told Khan that if he decides to resign from the assemblies, then the PPP and its “jiyalas” are ready to face his party.

At the start of the address, Bilawal paid tributes to his mother, former PM Benazir Bhutto and his maternal grandfather, former PM Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

Khan congratulates COAS Gen Munir, CJCSC Gen Mirza on promotions

Imran Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), on Wednesday congratulated the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir and Chairman Joint Chief of Army Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza on assuming charge of their office.

Khan took to Twitter today, six days after the government announced appointments to congratulate the two military officials.

“We hope the new military leadership will work to end the prevailing trust deficit that has built up in the last eight months, between the nation and the state. Strength of the state is derived from its people,” the former premier wrote.

He also shared a quote of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah regarding the role and “duty” of armed forces.

“Do not forget that the armed forces are the servants of the people and you do not make national policy; it is we, the civilians, who decide these issues and it is your duty to carry out these tasks with which you are entrusted,” the quote written in an image tweeted by Khan read.

Khan congratulated both army generals one day after the change of command ceremony was held in Rawalpindi. On November 24, the Prime Minister selected both officers for the highest military posts, ending weeks of speculation and uncertainty.

  • Samsung to launch Galaxy S23 series in February 2023

Samsung to launch Galaxy S23 series in February 2023

Samsung is just a few months away from releasing the long-awaited Galaxy S23, according to a Korean media report.

The upcoming flagship from the Korean phone maker is expected to be unveiled in the first week of February 2023 at an event.

Since the pandemic, this will be the first Unpacked event held in person. The phones will go on sale worldwide later in February after the unveiling, which is anticipated to take place in San Francisco.

This is not the first Korean report to state the Galaxy S23’s launch time and date. This might cast doubt on its veracity, but since a Samsung executive is cited, there is a good probability that it is accurate.

According to rumours, a Galaxy announcement will be made in January during CES 2023. Samsung’s S Series announcements, which are typically saved for its own Unpacked events, are not suitable for this forum. We don’t anticipate this pattern changing in the upcoming year.

Instead of the customary Exynos SoCs, all Galaxy S23 versions will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU.

“England need 11 fit players to play in the Test. The England team doctor to confirm later in the day following which decision will be made,” sports journalist Faizan Lakhani wrote in a tweet.

“13 to 14 members of England’s staff – including half the 16-man playing squad – have come down with an illness in Rawalpindi. The issue is thought to be a virus or bug rather than food poisoning,” ESPN has reported.

  • Govt expected to increase petroleum levy on diesel

Govt expected to increase petroleum levy on diesel

The government is expected to raise the petroleum levy beginning tomorrow, implying that diesel customers are unlikely to receive any relief.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar is also anticipated to maintain the oil prices for the first two weeks of December.

The government now has the flexibility to raise the rate of PL on diesel, a crucial good that is extensively utilised in the transportation and agricultural sectors, thanks to the recent rise in PL on gasoline and High-Octane Blending Component (HOBC) to the budgeted level of Rs50 per litre.

However, this change will directly affect how the majority of people live. High-speed diesel (HSD) is currently priced per litre at Rs12.59. However, according to sources, the price of diesel had decreased by Rs11.95 per litre during the past two weeks. Diesel prices could decrease to Rs223.35 per litre from Rs235.3 per litre if the government decides to pass along the savings.

Despite the rupee losing Rs1.81 to reach Rs223.62, the cost of diesel, kerosene, and light diesel oil (LDO) fell significantly. The current rate of PL and GST is the basis for the variation in oil prices.

The Inland Freight Equalization Margin has been set at Rs1.90 for HSD and Rs6.69 for gasoline per litre. The exchange loss for Pakistan State Oil was Rs3.01 for gasoline and Rs2.10 for HSD per litre.

PSO imports goods, therefore it may experience exchange gains or losses depending on how much the local currency is worth. Kerosene oil prices also decreased by Rs9.91 per litre, and LDO prices decreased by Rs13.39 per litre.

In isolated locations without access to LPG, kerosene oil is used for cooking. Kerosene oil’s price could decrease from Rs191.83 to Rs181.92 per litre and LDO’s price from Rs186.50 to Rs173.11 per litre if the government grants relief.

Petrol prices have increased by Rs2.62 per litre, with a potential increase to Rs227.42 per litre from the current level of Rs224.80 per litre.
