Citizen shoots two robbers dead after snatching their gun

In Karachi’s Korangi and Baldia Town neighbourhoods on Monday, two alleged robbers were killed and another was injured.

Within the confines of the Awami Colony police station, a citizen shot and killed two suspects close to Bilal Colony in Karachi’s Korangi area.

The men who were killed, according to the police, were thieves who attempted to steal money from two people who were leaving a private bank in Korangi. The residents, however, resisted and succeeded in stealing a gun from one of the criminals.

Later, one of the bystanders fired on them, gravely hurting them. After the incident, a large crowd gathered and violently battered the injured guys. One of them perished as a result, and the other passed away while travelling to the hospital, according to The News.

The person who killed the robbers, Abrar, owned a business in Korangi, according to SHO Jamal Leghari. The officer said that his check had been turned down at the bank when he had gone with his boss Faizan.

The man had a cell phone and Rs50,000 in cash, which was taken from him by two motorcycle-riding suspects as he and his colleague were returning from the bank.

Abrar and Faizan resisted the muggers throughout the mugging, and the former was able to take the muggers’ pistol and shoot them. Police have opened an investigation and registered a case.

In another news, a robbery suspect was hurt while he and his accomplice attempted to rob a medical supply business in the Baldia Town neighbourhood. The store owner resisted and fired shots at them.

Nadir, the son of Abdul Khaliq, was named as the injured suspect. He is 30 years old. His sidekick was able to flee the scene. There is a case open, and an investigation is under progress.

Turkish star Celal Al visits Pakistan to help flood victims, sets an example

Turkish actor Celal Al, who portrayed Abdurrahman Alp in Dirilis: Ertugrul, had landed in Karachi “without any invitation” to extend a helping hand to the people affected by the devastating floods.

By texting “Pakistan” to 2868, the Turkish actor has urged his supporters to donate to flood victims in Pakistan via the Turkish Red Crescent as nearly 40 million people are affected by floods and over 1,000 died.

On Monday, Celal posted a video of himself in Karachi speaking to his followers about the flooding in Pakistan and how he and the Red Crescent crew are working on the ground to assist those affected.

“Pakistan, Karachi. We are taking your [donations] to the affected people. You can also help by texting Pakistan [to] 2868,” he wrote.

As of Monday the floodwaters flowing from Manchar Lake continued to wreak havoc in Dadu district as another village, Mian Yaar Mohammad Kalhoro, was also submerged, with officials warning that more villages were facing a threat of inundation.

The Ertugrul star spent heartwarming moments with the the flood victims, especially children.

Celal has set a trailblazing example for other international celebrities to help the flood victims in Pakistan.

The actor first visited Pakistan early last year, winning hearts of many with his charitable work for the people of Pakistan through the Omair-Sana Foundation (OSF) and Children’s Hospital Karachi. He also appreciated the scenic beauty of Islamabad.

During his visit, he also met Adnan Siddiqui and Humayun Saeed. His visit brought a gift for fans — the first ever Pak-Turk collaboration for a TV show.

Earlier this year, Celal sang Junaid Jamshed’s iconic Dil Dil Pakistan with Imran Abbas. Abbas shared a video of the two jamming the song with the caption: “May this brotherhood between Pakistan and Turkey stay forever.”

Commenting under Abbas’ post, the Turkish Actor wrote: “Dil Dil Pakistan“.

Papaya juice doesn’t cure Dengue fever: Busting 5 dengue fever myths

With the rise of Dengue cases in the country, myths related to the disease are also re-surfacing. Dengue is a potentially fatal fever, with a severe version of the disease called dengue hemorrhagic fever causing internal bleeding which could lead to death.

Many ambiguous misconceptions surround our understanding of Dengue fever. Let’s debunk some of the most common beliefs about this disease:

Myth 1: Low platelets mean you have dengue

A low platelet count can be an indication of dengue, however, that is not always the case. Not every dengue patient has a drop in platelets, and not every patient with a low platelet count has dengue.
Other factors can cause a decrease in platelet count. Platelet counts can drop as a result of other viral infections as part of the body’s immunological response.

Myth 2: Any mosquito can cause dengue

Not every mosquito can cause dengue. Dengue is transmitted exclusively by the Aedes Egypti mosquito, which thrives in densely-populated tropical climates and breeds in stagnant pools of water. The mosquitoes pick up the virus from infected humans and pass it along through bites.

Myth 3: You can get infected only once in a lifetime

Many individuals assume that once infected with the dengue virus, they cannot be infected again. This is possibly the most damaging fallacy about dengue, as it raises the likelihood of more people falling victim to the disease. While our immune system is capable of combating dengue, it does not develop immunity to the virus.

Myth 4: Drinking papaya juice can cure dengue

Dengue fever cannot be cured with papaya leaf extract. According to research, papaya leaf extract may aid in platelet synthesis. However, platelet counts are not the only issue to be concerned about when it comes to dengue, and not every patient will have low platelet counts.

    Myth 5: Dengue is contagious

No, dengue is not contagious. It does not transmit from person to person. It is only transmitted when an infected Aedes mosquito bites a person, who then develops dengue and symptoms appear 4 to 5 days after being bitten. Infected patients are usually kept in mosquito nets so that they are not bit by more mosquitoes which can then carry the virus and infect others.

  • Pakistan is out of danger, there is no risk of the country going bankrupt: Miftah Ismail

Pakistan is out of danger, there is no risk of the country going bankrupt: Miftah Ismail

The present coalition government has lifted Pakistan out of danger, according to Federal Finance Minister Miftah Ismail, as there is no chance of the nation becoming bankrupt.

In an interview during Geo News show “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath” on Monday, the minister stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan had put the country at risk of default. However, he said, Pakistan is not currently in danger of going bankrupt.

The economic crisis were made worse by flash floods. But we’ll run the economy effectively. The country’s economy won’t be in danger, he continued.

The finance minister added that the government would implement measures to stabilise the currency market within the following four to five days.

He claimed that certain banks offered overpriced dollars as a result of the circumstance. The minister stated that the Prime Minister has taken strict notice of these banks and has requested a report from the Governor State Bank within two days.

Eight banks have also received letters regarding this and will also face penalties.

Ahmed Shehzad trolled by fans for criticising Asif, Shadab incident

Sri Lanka became Asia Cup 2022 champions, defeating Pakistan by 23 runs with Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s unbeaten knock of 71 on 54 balls paving the way to victory.

Pakistani cricketers made a litany of mistakes on the field, with a dropped catch of Rajapaksa as Shadab bumped into Asif Ali while both tried to catch the airborne ball.

The collision prompted former Pakistan opening batter Ahmed Shehzad to take to twitter to vent his feelings, typing out a sarcastic tweet that triggered cricket fans.

“Boys, its as simple as “mera haiiiiiiii” or “its miiiiiiiiiine”. This has happened multiple times this tournament,” Shehzad wrote.

Although the former cricket star raised a valid point, he was heavily trolled by twitteratis because of mistakes he committed during his career.

“bhai tum fake catches apne claim kar lete they, not the game tips coming from you”, wrote a user.

One of the user replied with a video of Shehzad dropping the catch.

A user replied, “U have done it like 200 times … relax and enjoy at home”

After the match, Shadab Khan posted an apology saying, ” Catches win matches. Sorry, I take responsibility for this loss. I let my team down. Positives for team”

Sharp rise in Dengue cases in Karachi

Karachi is witnessing a sharp increase in dengue fever cases with 113 new cases of the vector-borne disease reported in the city in the past 24 hours.

According to officials at government-run hospitals, the number of dengue cases in Karachi has surpassed 3,000 this year. So far in September, 843 people in Karachi have contracted the virus. Approximately 3,428 dengue cases have been registered in the province of Sindh overall. Yesterday, no dengue cases were reported in the districts of Hyderabad and Larkana. It should be noted that a large number of dengue cases have been reported in Karachi’s East area.

In the past 24 hours, 62 patients were diagnosed with dengue in Lahore, while 55 new cases were reported in Islamabad.

Dengue fever is one of the world’s leading mosquito-borne illnesses and infects millions across the globe annually.

  • ‘Six months’: Murad Ali Shah gives estimate on when flood waters will drain

Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah said that the government is working on rehabilitating people and the province’s drainage, irrigation network. According to him, it will take “three to six months” to drain the water from flood-affected areas of the province as in “some areas, there is at least eight to 10 feet of water”.

While speaking to the media in Karachi, the chief minister talked about the damages and loss of assets. He said that “12.5 million people are affected by the disaster and around 350 billion rupees’ losses to the farmers are being reported in the province.”

He revealed that even in places where the floodwater is receding, “the situation is not such that people can return”, highlighting that Pakistan had received unprecedented rainfall this year.

It is pertinent to mention that Sindh is the worst-hit province so far after biblical floods wreaked havoc across the country. Sindh had the most deaths and injuries. Out of the 1,396 fatalities countrywide, 578 people have died in Sindh province alone.

Moreover, CM Shah said that the province is facing a shortage of tents and medicines and he had raised the issue with the United Nations (UN) chief Antonio Guterres during his recent visit to Sindh.

“The whole world has to come together to combat climate change,” he said, adding that Guterres had also called on the world to “pitch in” to help Pakistan navigate the crisis.

Earlier, the UN chief on his visit to Pakistan’s flood-affected areas said that he has “never seen climate carnage on this scale”.

At a press conference in Karachi on Saturday after witnessing the worst of the damage in southern Pakistan, he said, “I have seen many humanitarian disasters in the world, but I have never seen climate carnage on this scale.”

Guterres also strongly urged international creditors to introduce a new mechanism ‘Debt Swap’ for flood-devastated Pakistan.

Later, Chaudhry took to Twitter and said that the meeting between Khan and Raphel took place three years ago.ing between Khan and Raphel took place three years ago.

It is pertinent to mention here that the PTI chairman, since he has been ousted out of power has said that the Americans had hatched a conspiracy to get him out of power.

Khan has blamed Donald Lu, an American diplomat based in Washington DC, of conspiring against his government. In his interviews and his political speeches, the former Prime Minister has repeatedly made the assertion that his government was removed via an American hatched conspiracy. The claims have been rubbished by both the government and the military’s PR wing.
