A 35-year-old man, Bilal Kaka, was murdered at a hotel in Hyderabad on July 12. Ethnic tensions increased as a result of the incident.

According to details, Bilal went to a hotel near Hyderabad Bypass for dinner. He was allegedly murdered when a fight broke out between the hotel owner’s son and Bilal and his friends.

The murder has led to clashes between Sindhis and Pashtuns in the province. There are media reports of groups of people forcing restaurants and tea shops owned by Pashtuns to close down.

In a video being shared on social media, dozens of people can be seen harassing a Pashtun immigrant and forcing him to shut down his tea stall.

Daler Mehndi arrested, sentenced to two years in Jail for Human Trafficking

A Patiala court on Thursday announced a two-year jail term for Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi in a human trafficking case that dates back to 2003.

A district court in Patiala on Thursday upheld a 2018 verdict by a trial court in a 19-year-old trafficking case where Mehndi and his brother were accused of illegally sending people abroad disguised as members of his dance crew.

Judge HS Grewal ordered an immediate arrest of the singer.

The first case was filed in September 2003 at the Patiala Sadar police station by Bakshish Singh, alleging that the Mehndi brothers took two troupes to the US in 1998 and 1999, including 10 people for illegal migration, the report added.

“They took ₹ 13 lakh from me to send me to Canada,” Bakshish Singh told ANI today. “Neither did they send me abroad, nor did they return my money. At that time they used to do this work of sending people abroad.”

Back in 2013, an FIR was registered at the Sardar Patiala police station, and the singer was booked under sections 406, 420, 120B, 465, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Indian Passport Act.

In 2018, a judicial magistrate held both the brothers guilty and sentenced them to two years in jail. However, they were granted bail minutes after the conviction. They later filed an appeal in the Sessions Court.

Daler can now appeal to the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the reports further suggest.

One in 10 people cannot remember own phone numbers, new study reveals

A recent survey conducted by WhistleOut, a consumer-focused website, has revealed that one in 10 people cannot remember their own phone numbers.

The study reported that about 80 per cent of survey respondents had only a handful of phone numbers that they had memorised.

The research revealed that one in 10 people could not remember their own phone numbers, 16 per cent do not have their parents’ numbers memorised and 17 per cent do not have their partner’s number memorised. Only 49 per cent have memorised between two to five numbers.

The reliance on mobile devices keeps people from retaining important information. A 2020 Panda Security survey termed it as “Digital Amnesia”, the effects of technology dependence that leads to an inability to remember things.

A previous study said that six in 10 people simply “couldn’t cope” without their cell phones for more than a day and one in eight suffer anxiety when their phone battery is low.

Bollywood actor Mallika Sherawat is currently gearing up for the release of her on-screen comeback with RK/RKay. While promoting the film, the Murder star shared how a section of the industry always spoke about her body and glamour but never her acting.

She also compared fellow actress Deepika Padukone’s performance in Gehraiyaan with her film Murder, saying that she did similar work over 15 years back.

Talking about the changes she is seeing in the film industry, the actor said, “Earlier, the heroines were either too good, sati-savitri types who were too innocent to know anything, or they were the characterless vamps. These were the only two types of roles written for heroines. The change that we see now, shows women as humans. She can be happy or sad. She can make mistakes, she can falter, and you love them despite all of that. The heroines are more confident about their bodies as well.”

Sherawat added that she was mentally tortured by a section of the industry as they only spoke about her ‘bold image’. “Such hue and cry was created when I did Murder. People said all kinds of things about the kiss and the bikini. What Deepika did in Gehraiyaan, I did that 15 years ago, but people were too narrow-minded back then. I should tell you that a section of the industry and media was mentally torturing me. These people only talked about my body and glamour, not my acting. I worked in Dasavatharam, Pyaar Ke Side Effects and Welcome, but none talked about my acting.”

  • All airlines will be allowed to fly in Saudi Arabia’s airspace including from Israel

All airlines will be allowed to fly in Saudi Arabia’s airspace including from Israel

Saudi Arabia announced that it would open its airspace to all air carriers, allowing for more overflights to and from Israel.

US President Joe Biden, who is scheduled to visit the kingdom today, applauded the decision.

According to the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), all airlines that fulfill the country’s overflight requirements are now allowed to use the country’s airspace, in accordance with international agreements that forbid discrimination between civil aircraft.

As per a statement from GACA, the choice will complement the efforts aimed at consolidating the kingdom’s position as a global hub connecting three continents and to enhance international air connectivity. Some flights to and from Israel had longer flight times and used more fuel as a result of flying over Saudi Arabia.

US President Joe Biden praised the choice, according to Jake Sullivan, the White House’s national security adviser. The security and prosperity of the United States and the American people, as well as the security and prosperity of Israel, are dependent on a more integrated, stable, and secure Middle East region, according to Sullivan.

A source had earlier told Reuters that Saudi Arabia would soon allow Israeli airlines unrestricted overflight access and permit direct charter flights from Israel for Muslims taking part in the yearly hajj pilgrimage in Makkah.

Saudi Arabia rejects Israel’s legitimacy and has made no mention of potential bilateral developments during Biden’s visit. Israel has likewise avoided making these connections.

KSA had agreed in 2020 to permit flights between Israel and the United Arab Emirates to pass through its territory, despite the lack of official relations.
