Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal was harassed by a group of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters on Friday when he went to a restaurant.

Video of the incident took social media by storm where a pro-PTI family could be seen hurling ‘chor chor’ at Iqbal.

Taking to Twitter, Iqbal wrote: “Today, a family — who apparently considered themselves elites and supported PTI — clashed with me.”

“Instead of holding a dialogue with me they started chanting slogans,” he wrote, adding that other people present at the restaurant also started chanting slogans against the PTI.

Criticising the PTI Chairman Imran Khan for instilling hatred, Iqbal wrote: “Just like their ignorant leader, his supporters are following suit.”

Responding to the video, PTI senior leader Fawad Chaudhry negated Iqbal’s claims that other people present at the restaurant chanted slogans against the PTI.

“Sir, in this video, only your disrespect could be seen. Stop lying,” he wrote on Twitter, advising Iqbal to “go in public wearing a burqa”.

Twitterati reacted to the incident and called out the pro-PTI family’s behaviour.

Twitter to sue Elon Musk for backing out from $44 billion deal

Twitter has decided to sue Elon Musk after he wrote a letter to the company saying that he wants to cancel his $44 billion bid to purchase Twitter.

In response to the letter by Musk’s lawyer, the chair of Twitter’s board, Bret Taylor, tweeted that the board is “committed to closing the transaction on the price and terms agreed upon” with Musk and “plans to pursue legal action to enforce the merger agreement. We are confident we will prevail in the Delaware Court of Chancery.”

According to a letter by a lawyer on behalf of billionaire Elon Musk addressed to Twitter’s top legal officer on Friday, Musk notified the company that he wants to cancel his $44 billion bid to purchase Twitter.

“Mr Musk is terminating the merger agreement because Twitter is in material breach of multiple provisions of that agreement, appears to have made false and misleading representations upon which Mr Musk relied when entering into the Merger Agreement, and is likely to suffer a Company Material Adverse Effect.”

He also claimed Twitter breached its obligations under the agreement to get Musk’s consent before changing its ordinary course of business, pointing to recent layoffs at the company.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, agreed to buy Twitter in April. Then in June, Twitter’s board of directors agreed on a $44 billion deal with Musk.

  • Eid looks inspired by Pakistan’s PML-N, PTI and PPP politicians

Eid looks inspired by Pakistan’s PML-N, PTI and PPP politicians

Eid is just around the corner and if you have not decided what to wear this Eid, you can take some inspiration from our politicians. While politicians are often busy with different things, some of them take their style very seriously and make sure to level up their dressing game before stepping out in public.

The Current has compiled a list of politicians who we think are great inspirations for your Eid look.

    Maryam Nawaz

Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s looks at her son Junaid Safdar’s wedding were the talk of the town for an entire week. This one specific look of Maryam from 2020, when she met Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at the All Parties Conference (APC), can be a perfect summer eid look. The shoes she is wearing are complimenting the solid green dress and will be heavy on our pockets, but similar copies of them are easily available in local markets.

    Muhammad Jibran Nasir

You must be wondering why Jibran made our list of politicians? Well, Jibran is a politician and he contested the 2018 general elections from Karachi as an independent candidate. Jibran is usually seen wearing a simple Shalwar Kurta. However, his eid look from last year is a total inspiration. A black waistcoat paired with a white shalwar kameez, is the safest choice.

    Sharmila Saheba Faruqui

PPP’s Sharmila Faruqi always makes sure to put effort into the way she looks and because of her unique sense of style.

She recently posted a photo of herself from a Ramzan transmission, and her black embroidered dress is giving us all Eid vibes, and it can be a perfect option for your Eid.

    Usman Buzdar

Our favourite Usman Buzdar, former Chief Minister of Punjab’s look in Sindhi Ajrak is so stylish, it is making us want to advise him to choose modeling as an alternative career option. Pairing an Ajrak with a shalwar kurta of your choice will make you stand out on Eid. Our diloun Kay Wazir-e-Ala is a total style icon!

    Hina Pervaiz Butt

PML-N’s Hina Pervaiz Butt is also a style icon in Punjab. They say orange is the new black, but we think green is the new orange, and we love this green minimalistic dress Hina is wearing. If you are looking to wear something simple with a touch of glitter, you can consider wearing something similar.

    Zulfi Bukhari

You can never go wrong with a gray waistcoat over a white shalwar kurta.

    Sherry Rehman

Sherry is elegantly flawless, and there is no doubt about it. She is often seen carrying a minimalistic look. This sky blue dress of hers, paired with silver ethnic earrings, can be a perfect choice for a summer Eid look.

    Moonis Elahi:

When in doubt, wear black. If you are still not sure what to wear this Eid, you can take some style inspiration from PMLQ’S Moonis Elahi, and go for a black shalwar kurta.

    Hina Rabbani Khar

Hina Rabbani Khar, is mostly seen in straight cuts and in plain clothes. Hina pairs her plain dresses almost always with pearl jewellery. As the temperature is going to be really high this Eid, you can go for a minimal look like Hina and can pair your solid colour Eid dress with statement pearl earrings.

    Zartaj Gul

Pink, in any shade promises to brighten your day, and what better occasion to wear bright clothes other than Eid? PTI’s Zartaj Gul, who gives happy go lucky vibes, is often spotted wearing bright shades.
