Shaheen married Ansha, the daughter of former captain Shahid Afridi, on February 3, 2023.

He will leave for Karachi tomorrow night to join the team before the second Test match, after playing in the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.

PCB broadcast rights sold for almost half of allotted amount

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sold its broadcast rights for matches to be played in Pakistan from August 2024 to December 2026 for just one billion and sixty crores, against an allocation of three billion and twenty crores, one billion and 48 crores less than the allocated price.

According to Dawn News, PCB announced last week that it would give the broadcasting rights of all its home international cricket matches to the consortium of ARY and Tower Sports for 28 months.

During this time, Pakistan will host a total of 11 Test matches, including seven Test matches to be played in the 2024-25 season.

In addition, the Pakistani team will play 26 ODIs, 24 T20 International matches, and a tri-lateral ODI series during the same period.

Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) has also profited as it later acquired the broadcasting rights by sub-licensing from the consortium for 50 crores.

The Consortium and PTV remained profitable, while the cricket board failed to capitalize on the prosperous cricket season.

The board could cancel the bidding process and issue another tender if it receives an offer lower than its desired amount to get the minimum allocated price, but the board settled on the consortium’s offer.

Reportedly federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar used his influence to obtain PTV broadcast rights. Despite this, PCB’s bid committee awarded the broadcast rights to the highest bidder.

Dawn said, “When contacted, the cricket board declined to provide details of the amount, saying that due to confidentiality. We cannot confirm the amount allocated or the individual bids; however, we can confirm that the broadcasting rights have been sold at double price compared to previous years (FTP 2021 to 2024).”

However, according to Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) rules and regulations, such information can be shared with the public.

Syed Noor and Resham’s controversy takes a new turn

The long-standing feud between Pakistani filmmaker Syed Noor and actress Resham has taken a new turn, with both parties engaging in a heated exchange of words. The controversy began when Syed Noor labelled Resham a “bad luck artist” in a podcast, prompting a strong response from the actress.

Resham denied the claim, stating that Syed Noor had offered her lead roles, only to withdraw them later. She also accused Syed Noor of sabotaging her career and claimed that it was not Rusksana Noor, Syed Noor’s wife, who introduced her to the industry but rather her talent and hard work.

The situation escalated when Syed Noor appeared on Suno TV’s podcast, claiming that Resham had approached him at an award show, requesting film roles. However, Resham denied the claim, stating that she never asked Syed Noor for work.

The controversy has sparked a heated debate in the Pakistani entertainment industry, with fans and industry insiders alike weighing in on the issue. The question on everyone’s mind is: what’s next for Syed Noor and Resham? Will they resolve their differences, or will the controversy continue to make headlines?

As the situation continues to unfold, one thing is certain – this controversy has brought to light the complexities and challenges of the Pakistani film industry. With both parties refusing to back down, it remains to be seen how this will end. Will Resham respond to Syed Noor’s latest claims, or will she choose to ignore them? Only time will tell.

  • ‘Sticking to Pakistan made me a superstar’, says Fahad Mustafa

‘Sticking to Pakistan made me a superstar’, says Fahad Mustafa

Renowned actor Fahad Mustafa believes he became a superstar only because other actors went to India to work in Bollywood.

In a recent interview, Fahad Mustafa shared the secret behind his success and the advice he received from his mentor, Humayun Saeed.

“I consider Humayun bhai my mentor. He taught me years ago that Indian projects are temporary. In the end, our industry is what matters,” Fahad said. “And he was right.”

The ‘Jeeto Pakistan’ host added, “Indian and Turkish series will come and go, but Humayun Saeed and I have been here, and we’ll stay here.”

He joked, “Everyone else went to India; I stayed and became a superstar because there was no one here to compete with. Now, everyone is going to Turkey, but I’m still here. Insha Allah, He will make me a megastar.”

We think Fahad is wrong. With that much talent at his disposal, he would have become a superstar even if the competition had not gone to India for work.

Fahad Mustafa also shared some advice: “You just need to have faith in your audience. Believe in your people and help them grow.”

On the work front, Fahad Mustafa has made his acting comeback after nine years with the popular serial ‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum,’ co-starring Hania Aamir and Emmad Irfani.
