Since the Minar-e-Pakistan incident, the number of sexual harassment cases has increased up to 300 per cent in Lahore.
A police report stated that during the past 1.5 months, 642 cases of sexual harassment were registered under sections 354, 354-A and 509-B as compared to the number of incidents up to less than 150 that had been reported before August 14, reports ARY News.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Shariq Jamal Khan said that the ratio of harassment cases was high in the past but previously people used to avoid registering cases.
He added that the actions related to the accused in the incident of Greater Iqbal Park have encouraged the women to report such cases. He said that the authorities will take strict action in such cases.

Hina Pervaiz Butt, Member Punjab Assembly (MPA) from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has opened up about her divorce, being a single mother and how she became a politician.
Hina shared a video on her Instagram telling her story, “Every vital voice is an ordinary voice to start with. My voice was no different. Like many women, I fantasised about a ‘living happily ever after’ fairytale based on an ideal marriage. But this was not to be. I ended up a single mother in a culture that considers divorce a taboo and fails to provide a support system for someone who has gone through it.”
“I saw my world falling down like a house of cards. But with great despair comes great strength. I felt an energy in me, and I knew I needed to channelise it into something productive,” she added.
“I decided to complete my studies, and after getting a degree in business administration, I took the entrepreneur route and started a fashion business. At no point in my life had I thought that I would be a working woman, but here I was running a brand that gained prominence in very little time,” Hina added.
Talking about her political career, Hina said, “So I ventured into a field beyond my wildest imagination: politics. A place where my voice can actually make a difference. I got elected as a member of our provincial assembly and contributed to legislation for women’s empowerment and protection.”
“Getting here was tough. Being in politics added to my credentials, but now I am on the receiving end of patriarchal hate not only from opposing parties but sadly, sometimes from my very own people.”
A woman who went to Rawalpindi from Lahore was raped by an unidentified man who promised to give her a job after an interview, Dawn reported.
As per details, the victim, a mother of two, reported to Race Course police that she along with her family were in a department store when a man came to them and distributed property advertisement pamphlets.
She said she took a pamphlet and informed her husband about the advertisement, who later contacted a man for further details. The man told her husband to come to Rawalpindi where he could arrange a job for her in his project.
Later, the woman with her husband and children went to Rawalpindi and reached Saddar where the man was waiting for them in a black car. Upon reaching Saddar, the husband was asked to stay there with his children as the man would take his wife for an interview and come back soon.
She said she was taken to a hotel situated and asked to wait at the reception until her turn for an interview. She said although she resisted going into a hotel room, she was taken to a room where she was asked to wait, adding the suspect locked the door from inside, raped her and escaped.
She said that as he was fleeing, she shouted and tried to catch him but he was able to run away.
Police said medical examination of the victim was carried out and the suspect was arrested by Race Course police. He will be presented before a court of law for remand custody.

International cricket laws have been amended to replace the term ‘batsman’ with the gender-neutral word ‘batter.’
According to details, Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) — the sole authority on the laws of cricket since it was founded in 1787 — announced the amendment to the laws of the game on Wednesday.
The MCC said the use of the terminology would “help reinforce cricket’s status as an inclusive game for all”.
The profile of women’s cricket has rocketed in recent years, with England’s victory over India in the 2017 World Cup final taking place in front of a capacity crowd at Lord’s, which is owned by the MCC.
A crowd of 86,174 saw Australia defeat India in the T20 World Cup final in Melbourne in 2020 and in August Lord’s broke the record for a domestic women’s match as more than 17,000 fans watched the final of the inaugural Hundred competition.
“MCC believes in cricket being a game for all and this move recognises the changing landscape of the game in modern times,” said assistant secretary with responsibility for cricket and operations, Jamie Cox. “Use of the term ‘batter’ is a natural evolution in our shared cricketing language and the terminology has already been adopted by many of those involved in the sport.
“It is the right time for this adjustment to be recognised formally and we are delighted, as the guardians of the laws, to announce these changes today,” added MCC.

As As per the official information available on NADRA portal, Nawaz Sharif was administered the first dose of Sinovac on Wednesday, September 22 and he is due to receive the second dose next month.
The Punjab health department has taken the notice of this fake entry.
A report published in the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday has revealed that Instagram is harmful for teenage users. The report is based on Facebook studies over the past three years that examined how Instagram affects its young user base, with teenage girls being most notably harmed.
As per the WSJ report, among teenagers who reported suicidal thoughts, about 6 per cent in the US and 13 per cent in the UK traced them back to Instagram.
The researchers noted that many of these problems are unique to Instagram because it focuses heavily on body and lifestyle, meaning “social comparison is worse on Instagram”.
“Thirty-two percent of teen girls said that when they felt bad about their bodies, Instagram made them feel worse,” the researchers reportedly wrote, as per CNBC.
The research also found “teens blame Instagram for increases in the rate of anxiety and depression”, a reaction researchers described as “unprompted and consistent across all groups”.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Wednesday projected that inflation in Pakistan would remain the highest in the region at 7.5 per cent, and the economy would grow by 4 per cent – the fifth-lowest growth rate among seven South Asian nations, contradicting the government’s claim of lowest prices in the country, reported Shahbaz Rana for The Express Tribune.
Pakistan’s “economy is expected to continue recovering in the fiscal year 2021-22, with real GDP projected to rise by 4 per cent”, according to the ADB report.
It was the fifth-lowest economic growth rate in the region as the economic growth rate in the Maldives (15 per cent) and India (7.5 per cent) remain the highest in the region. Bangladesh is projected to grow at 6.8 per cent and Nepal at 4.1 per cent in 2022, according to the ADB.
The ADB said that the 4 per cent growth rate was contingent on the resumption of structural reforms later in the year in an ongoing programme under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Extended Fund Facility.
“The economic outlook is clouded, however, by high uncertainty because it is closely tied to the course of the pandemic in Pakistan and globally.”
The ADB has also cautioned about a further increase in prices in Pakistan, provided the Pakistan-IMF deal collapses.
“Risk of inflation higher than forecast derives from any unusual increase in oil prices or from potential currency depreciation in the wake of any early winding down of the ongoing IMF programme,” said the ADB.
