‘Na hum safe hain, na he hum azaad’: Alizeh Shah gets direct in a lengthy post

Actor Alizeh Shah took to her Instagram stories to condemn the heinous harassment of a female tiktoker by an aggressive mob at ‘Minar-e-Pakistan’. The Ehad-e-Wafa star has stated that this incident indicates that women are not safe in this country.

A recently surfaced video shows a woman being sexually assaulted by a large group of men at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore on 14 August, Pakistan’s independence day. The incident has been confirmed after a First Information Report (FIR) was registered.

The FIR was registered under sections 354 A, 382, 147 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code against hundreds of unidentified persons for assaulting and stealing from a female TikToker and at least five other people, Dawn has reported.

She recently pointed out in an Instagram video that in this country, forget a random citizen, even a celebrity doesn’t have the autonomy on her choice of dressing. In July 2021, the Tanaa Banaa star received backlash on her choice of dressing at the Hum Style Awards.

On the work front, she will be seen next in Lekin opposite Ali Rehman Khan and Khushal Khan.

China is welcome to contribute to the rebuilding of the country: Taliban spokesman

China has played a constructive role in promoting peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan and is welcome to contribute to the rebuilding of the country, Taliban spokesman Suhail Shaheen told Chinese state media.

“China is a big country with a huge economy and capacity — I think they can play a very big role in the rebuilding, rehabilitation, reconstruction of Afghanistan,” Shaheen told CGTN television in an interview late on Thursday.

During Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s meeting with a Taliban delegation in Tianjin last month, the Chinese envoy said he hoped Afghanistan could adopt a moderate policy.

VIDEO: 10-foot-long python slides through grocery store racks

A grocery store turned into a snake rescue in Australia when a 10-foot-long non-venomous python slid through the racks to greet a woman customer.

The 25-year-old, Helaina Alati, was at a Sydney store on Monday when the snake slithered out.

Alati was not expecting a snake at the supermarket. But fortunately for both parties, Alati is a wildlife rescuer and familiar with snakes.

“I just turned my head and he was about 20cm from my face, just looking straight at me,” she told the BBC.

She did a double-take but stayed calm. No one else was around. Recognising it instantly as a diamond python, Alati knew it wasn’t poisonous as it protruded and flicked its tongue.

“He was looking straight at me the whole time, almost like he was saying: ‘Can you take me outside please?’” she said.

After recording a video, Alati alerted staff and told them she could help them get it out.

She retrieved a snake bag from her home, returned to the store, “tapped him on the tail and he just slithered in”.

She then released it away from houses in bushland – a natural habitat for the species around Sydney.

PM Khan took to Twitter and wrote, “This is where duty becomes sacred. Admiration for the commitment of the young policeman to serve the people.”

In another tweet, PM Khan announced that Constable Jamal Kalhoro will be honoured on Pakistan Day March 23 for his dedication to duty.

In June, PM Imran heaped praise on a head constable of Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) Qaiser Shakeel, who returned to work only two days after an on-duty injury, resulting in a fracture to his arm.

“Such actions uplift the image of the police when one man decides to serve the people with dedication, and that is why I especially called you to the PM Office,” the premier said as he spoke to Shakeel.

A former police official died earlier this month while trying to save a child from being crushed by a train in Lahore.

According to details shared by Superintendent of Police (SP) City Lahore Hassan Jahangir, the former sub-inspector Siddique, who retired from service last year, lost his life at a railway track while saving a child.

  • Rashid Minhas remembered on his 50th martyrdom anniversary

Rashid Minhas remembered on his 50th martyrdom anniversary

The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), has remembered the sacrifice of martyred Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas (Nishan-e-Haider) on his 50th death anniversary on Friday.

The DG-ISPR said in a Twitter message, “On 50th Martyrdom anniversary, we remember with reverence, bravery & supreme sacrifice of National Hero Pilot officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed, Nishan-e -Haider.

“In line of duty, Pilot offr Rashid Minhas lived up to great traditions of Pakistan Air Force defending the motherland.”

The brave son of Pakistan was born on February 17, 1951, in Karachi. He belonged to the famous Minhas clan of Rajputs.

His childhood fascination with aircraft and aviation led him to what he truly was destined for. Minhas embraced his true passion after school and earned a degree in military history and aviation history from the University of Karachi.

He was commissioned as a pilot in the Pakistan Air Force in 1971.

Minhas was taxiing towards the runway when a Bengali instructor pilot, Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman, signalled him to stop and then climbed into the instructor’s seat. The jet took off and turned towards India.

Minhas radioed PAF Base Masroor with the message that he was being hijacked. The air controller requested that he resend his message, and he confirmed the hijacking. Later investigation showed that Rahman intended to defect to India to join his compatriots in the Bangladesh Liberation War, along with the jet trainer.

However, Minhas did the only thing within his control and forced that plane to crash just 32 miles from the Indian border, deliberately sacrificing his life for the honour of Pakistan.

Minhas spent his early childhood in Lahore. Later, the family shifted to Rawalpindi.

Awarded with Pakistan’s top military honour Nishan-e- Haider, Minhas became the youngest man in history and the only member of the Pakistan Air Force to be honoured with this award for his valiant feat.

Titled a national hero, the Pakistan Air Force base at Kamra was renamed PAF Base, Minhas, often called Minhas-Kamra.
