    The second half of 2021 has seen a lot of catastrophic situations around the world. From the wildfires in Turkey to severe flooding in China, here’s a list of all the episodes of misfortunes happening right now.

    Wildfires rage across Europe

    Wildfire blazes have erupted across Europe; the most devastating in Turkey resulted in six deaths. The country has been hit by 133 wildfires and tens of thousands were forced from their homes. Moreover, the heatwave has fuelled several fires in Greece, Italy, Croatia, and southern parts of Europe, leaving them struggling to cope. Strong winds and a dry atmosphere have allowed the fires to rapidly expand, reports The New York Times.

    Rare Snowfall Blankets in Brazil

    Several parts of Brazil have seen snow for the first time in 64 years due to an uncharacteristic cold spell. Rare low temperatures have also been experienced by 40 cities. This has threatened the country’s agricultural sector with the risen of coffee and sugar prices, according to The Insider. Not only this, the temperature is expected to keep dropping, with possible snowfall in other states.

    Hail bigger than tennis balls rained down in northern Italy

    Towns around Italy’s Lake Como were hit by the size of tennis balls hailstones damaged nearly 100 cars. While hailstorms are a common summer feature in the country, the frequency of hailstorms this year is quite unusual. More than 60 rescues have been carried out so far, per reports.

    According to Reuters, due to a prolonged shortage of rainfall in Brazil, Parana’s water is at the lowest level since 1944. Due to this aggravating situation, Argentina’s government has urged citizens to limit water use to alleviate pressure on the River as it is the transportation route for 80 percent of the country’s farm exports and a source of drinking water, irrigation, and energy.

    Severe Flooding in Europe and China

    Floods have upended life in China, Germany, and Belgium. Hundreds of the residents have lost their lives because of the situation. As the atmosphere warms with climate change, it also holds more moisture, which means that when rainclouds break, more rain is released, as per details.

    These occurrences have sent a stark reminder to everyone that climate change is making weather more extreme across the globe.

    Nimra married in April 2020 and allegedly got divorced in late 2020. However she has never publicly spoken on the matter.

    The Uraan diva also stated on the show that celebrity couples shouldn’t be so expressive about their personal lives on social media and cited it as a key reason for break-ups in the era of digital media. She added that ‘rishton ki numaish nahi karni chahiye’.

    She concluded her stance by stating that now celebrities are becoming a couple for fame and popularity, celebrity couples have started ‘selling’ their relationships for financial gains.

    Sadaf Kanwal received backlash on social media for her gendered statements in a recent interview.

    A few prominent members of the entertainment fraternity expressed their support for the Alif star.

    Ahmed Ali Butt, known for his comedy roles, came forward and shunned those who are bullying Sadaf Kanwal over her remarks. He called out people who are making a mockery of a woman.

    His wife Fatima Khan also shared her thoughts on the matter, saying: “Liberals fail to practice what they preach about tolerance.”

    She also wrote a detailed note on women attacking a woman.

    Actor and host Noor Bukhari also supported Sadaf, saying that whatever she said is in accordance with the true teachings of Islam.

    Recently, Yasir Hussain took to social media bashed the bloggers who are using dancing pictures of the actor.

    “Mujhy aik samajh nahi aati k Sadaf ki 50 hazar Khoobsurat pictures mai se ye aik dance wali picture hi kyon post ki jati hai? Dance buri cheez nahi magar mai bloggers ki is image building ko bakhoobi samajhta hun,” wrote Yasir addressing the social media websites.

    Earlier, Ali Abbas came in support of Sadaf saying that it is her husband and she can treat him the way she likes to do it.

    Biden says New York Governor Cuomo should resign over sexual harassment report

    American President Joe Biden has called on New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to resign after a report by the New York state attorney general’s office found that he had sexually harassed 11 women, reports The Guardian.

    After the publishing of the official report, the president told reporters that the governor should resign. “I understand that the state legislature may decide to impeach. I don’t know that for a fact. I’ve not read all that data.” he added.

    The New York Attorney General Letitia James revealed that the reports showed Cuomo engaged in unwanted groping, kissing, and hugging and made inappropriate comments to multiple women.

    According to news network CNN, the third-term Democratic governor has denied touching anyone inappropriately and vowed to continue as governor.

    “I do kiss people on the forehead, I do kiss people on the cheek,” he said, in a video response. He also showed a couple of photos of him kissing and hugging both men and women and said his behavior was “unremarkable” for a politician.

    Investigators spoke to 179 people including members of his executive staff and reviewed more than 74,000 pieces of evidence including emails, texts, audio files, and pictures.

    The first allegations were made earlier this year in February when two former aides accused the governor of sexually harassing them. Later, several other women came forward with their own accounts of misconduct.

    Once a rising star in the Democratic Party, the 63-year-old can now can face possible criminal prosecution.

    Cuomo has been serving as the governor of NY state since 2011 and was previously married to famous American politician Robert F. Kennedy’s daughter, Kerry Kennedy.

    Prime Minister Imran Khan, while addressing the launching ceremony of Defence Analyst Ikram Sehgal’s book, said, “I was friends with both former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif. Sharif was more interested in cricket and by chance, he became prime minister.”

    Speaking about his early days in politics a little over two decades ago, PM Khan said, “I knew them [Benazir and Nawaz] personally and they both offered me party tickets again and again, but I was opposed to their corruption and challenged them,” the premier recalled. 

    The premier said he had studied politics in university and therefore understood international politics, but every country has its own culture of politics. “I had no knowledge of Pakistani politics and that is how I began my career in it,” he said.

    Taking a jibe at the opposition, PM Khan said that the leaders of Pakistan’s political parties spent their summers abroad and never thought about the country.

    A housing society in Karachi removed animals from former cricketer Shahid Afridi’s residence.

    According to GEO News, the residents of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) have filed a complaint over former national cricket team captain Shahid Afridi keeping animals at his house. One of the animals taken from his house is a deer. The details of the other animals are unknown.

    The DHA administration then, got the animals removed from Afridi’s house. The authorities also said they had asked the former cricketer to remove other supplies for livestock from his house.

    In 2018, Afridi had a lion at his house and after a complaint was filed by a citizen, the Wildlife Department had launched an inquiry into it.

    Punjab MPA Nazir Chohan, a loyalist of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) stalwart Jahangir Khan Tareen (JKT), has quit Tareen’s PTI faction.

    Addressing a media briefing in Lahore, alongside Punjab Minister for Prisons Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan, Nazir said, “Jahangir Tareen used me.”

    “Jahangir Tareen is a big name, he only used me to his benefit and later abandoned me,” said Nazir.

    Nazir further added, “Tareen should be ashamed of himself, he never inquired about my health while I was in the hospital.” “When he was in difficulty I stood by him. I used to be a part of all his hearings in the ongoing sugar scam against him [JKT],” said Nazir.

    Nazir said that he was “never once called” by Tareen in his hour of need, nor did Tareen ask my children about my health.

    MPA Nazir Chohan was brought to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) after he developed heart problems while he was in FIA custody.

    “Tareen is not the kind who can maintain friendships,” added Nazir.

    On Tuesday, adviser to the Prime Minister on Interior and Accountability Mirza Shahzad Akbar forgave Punjab MPA Nazir Chohan. PM’s aide had earlier asserted that Chohan ran a “fake campaign” against him, “putting his life, as well as those of his family at risk”.

    Nazir was arrested as a consequence of the allegations against Akbar.

    Noor Mukadam’s sister Sara Mukadam has penned down a heartfelt for her sister on the social media site, Instagram, talking about her sister, who was brutally murdered in Islamabad on July 20.

    “Noorah! I miss you so much! I don’t know how to live a life without you. I miss you every breathing moment. We had made so many plans for your birthday this year,” wrote Noor’s sister while sharing a picture of herself with Noor.

    “Noorah! I miss you so much! World is not the same without your Noor. We can never celebrate another birthday, another Eid, or lead normal lives,” she added more.

    Noor Mukadam is the daughter of a former Pakistani diplomat. She found murdered at a residence in the capital’s upscale Sector F-7/4 and the alleged murderer, Zahir Jaffar was arrested for the murder.

  • Nowshera man arrested for trying to rape five-year-old granddaughter

    Police have filed an FIR against an elderly man for attempting to rape his five-year-old granddaughter in Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

    As per reports, a police official told The Express Tribune that a woman registered an FIR with Pabbi police, stating that she asked her five-year-old daughter to take dinner to her grandfather and when the minor girl returned, she was crying. 

    “I asked the child what happened to her and she said that her grandfather, Mir Basher tried to rape her but when she started crying, he let her go,” the mother stated, adding that the accused Mir Basher is her father-in-law and had married thrice.

    “One of his wives is dead. Another one is suffering from mental ailments and the third one is living with him but even then he tried to rape my minor daughter,” she told the police.

    Later, the victim’s father also reported the incident to the police after which an FIR was registered against the accused. Police said that the accused has been booked.

    “This man has been booked under section 50 and 53 of Child Protection Act (CPA) and has been arrested for trying to commit incest,” said an investigation officer.

    The investigation officer added that incest is more common despite a common belief that our religious society is free of such crimes.
