Five lines you can’t miss at Karachi Eat this weekend

Let’s face it. Karachi Eat’s lines are super long and they’re bound to be longer this Saturday and Sunday. The festival kicked off today (Friday) and will go on till January 12 at at the Beach Park on Edhi Avenue, Sea View. The best stalls will have the longest lines but which ones are going to be worth the wait?

    O Donuts

Getting famous on Karachi’s food groups, ODonuts is giving Easy a run for their money. The donuts are soft and fresh and a big hit with Karachiites. Worth the line and best with a cup of chai. They are priced at Rs. 160 per donut at their stall.

    Crust Bros

Authentic Italian Neopolitian Pizza? Karachi is a tough crowd to please when it comes to pizza so this one is definitely worth the try. Even if it doesn’t live up to the taste, Crust Bros is doing what the fancy bakery, Marcels did when it launched in Karachi: introducing 24k gold as a enticing meal for Karachiites. The crust of the pizza is 24K gold and topped with gold too. Will be interesting to see how well this one does – we’re on the fence since this might work in Lahore but Karachiites are a bit more finicky about the flavour more than the shashkas. But will be interesting to try it out.

    Tikyani

Hai the traditionalists will not like this one at all. But it will be worth a try. Tikka Biryani can only do well if it doesn’t taste like chicken and rice, which most tikka biryanis end up tasting as. It’s not completely new though and some major food dhaabas do it well. It will create interest but it will have to be really good for people to rush towards it. Everyone knows there’s one dish that everyone in Karachi is an expert on – it’s biryani.

    Sol

Their burgers are out of this world good. And they are at Karachi Eat and a long line is expected. Although they have suffered reviews about their brisket being dry, this is one line that will be long and the end result should be worth the wait

    Mana’s Cookies

Are they us good as the abroad wale Ben’s cookies? Apparently, they are and they will be available at Karachi Eat, the cookie and giant marshmallows too. And who can resist a cookie s’more? Watch out for the line on this one.

VIDEO: PM’s lawyer nephew makes headlines for ‘violence’, again

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s nephew, Barrister Hassaan Khan Niazi, who is also nominated in the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) attack case, has once again made headlines for allegedly harassing a driver on Lahore’s Zafar Ali Road.

According to media reports, Niazi on Friday was entering a private club located in the Jail Road area of the provincial capital when his car collided with another one. It was a minor accident, but Niazi lost his cool, headed over to the other vehicle, pulled out its key from ignition and started hitting the car, reports said.

“He also abused the other driver and threatened him,” a private media outlet reported.

In a subsequent tweet, he said:

“My car was hit. I got punched. I called the security. I filed the complaint. And media bashing me even after issue has been resolved. First they played news then decided to take my version,” Niazi tweeted.

CAA introduces new policy to encourage female pilots

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced to empower women under the new Aviation Policy 2019 as the institution will bear half expenses of under training female pilots.

The spokesperson of CAA said the institution will bear 50% expenses of female trainee pilots. The allowance will be given to the female pilots who have completed 100 hours of flying. The authority will directly provide the funds to the training institutions.

Earlier in May last year, CAA had exempted aeronautical charges on domestic flights under a new aviation policy.

The decision will advantage domestic flight operators
including Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) as the aviation authority has
zeroed aircraft landing charges on private airlines as well.

In addition, the charges for parking, boarding, power supplies and terminal navigation, were also ended up. According to CAA spokesperson, the national flag-carrier’s profit will increase up to 70% after the suspension of charges and flight operators will be able to save Rs 4 billion annually.

Ahmed Ali Butt criticises Meghan, Harry for their decision to ‘step back’ from royal duties

Ahmed Ali Butt has decided that he wants to share a few cents on Megxit.

In a social media post, Butt heavily criticised the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for their decision to step back as “senior members of the royal family and work to become financially independent.”

Butt said: “I don’t believe that because of media and family matters, you are stepping down from your birth responsibility.”

He continued that Meghan knew “very well what she was getting into” and that if she couldn’t handle the family drama, then she shouldn’t have “gotten through the fairytale wedding.”

He then turned his guns towards Harry and commented that the Prince should man up and “stop acting like a over sensitive kid.”

It is likely that Butt received flak for his comments which is why a few hours later, he shared this by English broadcaster and journalist Pier Morgans.

The Sussex’s decision to step back has sparked a royal drama and media reports suggest that member of the royal family including Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and Prince William are deeply upset with all that is happening.

“Happily ever after is a myth. It’s there only in fairy tales. In real life, one gets peace only when he or she lies in their grave,” the premier said Friday as he addressed the inauguration ceremony of a skills development programme called “Hunarmand”.

It wasn’t later that his statements broke the internet as a majority trolled him, and some called his government out for its “flawed” policies.

  • VIDEO: ‘Moment when Ukraine plane was hit by Iranian missile’

VIDEO: ‘Moment when Ukraine plane was hit by Iranian missile’

A newly-surfaced video released by The New York Times and CNN among other foreign media outlets, appears to show the moment a Ukrainian airliner was hit by a missile before crashing not far from Iran’s airport in Tehran on Wednesday, Al Jazeera reported.

Ukrainian International Airlines’ Kyiv-bound flight PS752 crashed minutes after takeoff from the Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran on Wednesday amid escalating tensions between the United States (US) and Iran.

All 176 passengers on board were killed in the crash that came as Iran fired missiles at US forces in Iraq.

    WATCH VIDEO:

The video is consistent with statements made by Canadian, US and UK officials, who said intelligence indicated that an Iranian missile brought down the airliner. They, however, say it may have been a mistake.

Iran, on the other hand, rejects the same and blames engine failure for the crash.

While it is unclear why the person was recording a video at the time, reports say it is possible that two missiles were fired, prompting the person filming to start recording. The New York Times also reported that the person started filming after hearing “some sort of shot fired”.

Megxit: Harry, Meghan’s waxworks removed from royal family display at Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds waxwork museum has removed the figures of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan from its British royal family display, in response to the couple’s announcement that they will be stepping back from royal duties.

The wax museum announced their move on social media with a cheeky caption.

Madame Tussauds, which contains more than 250 wax models of celebrities, said the two figures will be placed in a separate section, away from that which includes Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, and Prince William and his wife Kate.

On Wednesday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they intend to divide their time between North America and the UK to carve out a “progressive new role” and step back from their senior positions.

According to British media, senior members of the royal family, including the Queen, Prince William and Prince Charles were disappointed by the move. Some reports suggested that the Queen was furious with Harry.

Rihanna proves, yet again, that she is the ultimate queen

When Rihanna posted her first selfie of the decade, the responses from her fans just wouldn’t stop. And the selfie garnered 5.4 million likes.

To mark the beginning of the new decade, the singer chose a makeup-free photo. Rihanna posted a pic with a red pimple near her jawline (Yeah, she keeps it real).

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B6_ngxfHaLH/

The pimple didn’t go unnoticed of course. One fan requested: “Let me pop your pimple.”

Rihanna just had to respond with amazing humour: “let her have her shine, PLEASE.”

This comment led to many pro-pimple comments from the singer’s fans.

One fan wrote: “WE STAN YOUR PIMPLE” and “even riri’s pimple has unmatched power.”

Another follower shared, “love that you posted this pic! Natural Beauty pimples n all ❤❤”

Apparently, Rihanna’s skin care routine is very simple.

“When I feel like my skin has had it, I overdo the water. Mix moisturizer and a drop of foundation. That, some mascara, lipstick, and you’re good. And fix those brows,” she told Elle in an interview.
