A woman who was caught on camera threatening an on-duty traffic policeman after she violated traffic rule last year is back again. This time the same woman involved in an argument with some other women.
A video doing rounds on social media shows the woman fighting, abusing and calling other women ‘maasi’ in an insulting manner. While the faces of the other women are not visible, they can be heard saying that they recognise her facefrom her past activities that went viral in the news in November last year.
Previously, the woman identified as Sana was stopped by traffic warden in Karachi’s area of Khayaban-e-Shahbaz of DHA after she violated a signal rule upon which she started threatening and using foul language against the policeman who asked her to show her license or CNIC.
Following the attack by masked assailants wielding batons and iron rods at New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University, leaving more than two dozen injured, India is in a state of conflict yet again. Controversy over Sunday’s violence at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) comes as a new challenge to the government as it confronts major nationwide protests against a new citizenship bill that critics say is anti-Muslim.
Students blamed the university attack on right-wing activists and also accused the police of doing nothing to stop the violence.
According to AFP, at least 28 students and teachers were injured in this attack, while doctors and nurses from a nearby hospital who went to treat them were also attacked.
The violence prompted several Bollywood actors to speak up on the matter while others including Vishal Bharadwaj, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dia Mirza, Rahul Bose, Richa Chadha and Taapsee Pannu led hundreds of people in a peaceful protest against the attack.
Taapsee Pannu, known for her roles in Pink, Manmarziyaan and Judwaa 2 also called for swift action to be taken against the perpetrators of violence. Sharing the news of Pakistan arresting the prime suspect in the Nankana attack case, Taapsee remarked that India should follow suit and do the same.
After condemning the attack on New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) which left more than two dozen injured, Deepika Padukone arrived at the university to stand in solidarity with the students.
Good that big Bollywood stars, with much to lose, like @deepikapadukone@aliaa08@sonamakapoor have taken clear positions against the violence in JNU. They can hardly be called the usual suspects or the tukde-tukde gang. It’s the major male actors who’s silence is now deafening.
The female of the species is, and was, and will always be the strongest of the two #DeepikaPadukone . Chhapak first day all shows . Let’s all those who stand against the violence go to @bookmyshow and show them. Make our silent statement which will be the loudest .
All those making snide remarks on @deepikapadukone’s visit to JNU as a movie promotion exercise, well, she could have chosen SRCC, Amity or Nirma University if it was only to promote a film. The fact that she CHOSE to visit JNU is a brave choice given the times we live in.
Cynics who think @deepikapadukone’s appearance at #JNU is a publicity stunt, remember this: The right wing publicly threatened to chop her nose off, *and* delayed her film’s release, only 2 years ago. Don’t pretend like she isn’t aware of the stakes.
Actor @deepikapadukone meeting #AisheGhosh in #JNU. She’s at ground zero despite knowing the backlash it will receive from RW goons who will attempt to boycott her film which releases in two days. Coming from Deepika who has largely been silent on political issues this is BIG. pic.twitter.com/xaNTHpezfU
Deepika Padukone, the biggest female star of the Indian film industry and one of the most powerful celebrities in the world, standing with the students of JNU Delhi is simply beautiful.
At the time when the biggest male stars don’t even have the empathy to tweet a few words.

This is callous. Those calling to boycott #Chhapaak because @deepikapadukone went to #JNU are forgetting the movie is about an acid attack survivour whose story Deepika has dared to share. How can one forget the cause the brave actress has espoused ? #ISupportDeepikapic.twitter.com/iWlAcpht4C
Previously, in a media interaction when asked about the ongoing protests, Deepika had said that she is proud that the students are not scared of expressing themselves.
“I feel proud about it that people are coming out – be it on the streets or wherever they are – they are raising their voice and expressing themselves as it is important. If we want to see change in life and society, it is important that a point of view be put forward,” Deepika had said.
On Sunday masked assailants wielding batons and iron rods attacked JNU leaving more than two dozen injured. According to an Indian journalist, the masked mob was linked to a BJP linked student group. They barged into hostel rooms and assaulted left-wing students and also beat up visually impaired people. There were reports that they were carrying acid as well.
Deepika’s presence at the protest signifies that she is most likely standing with them in protest of these BJP-linked attacks and not the tuition fees hike protests that had been happening at the university earlier. The hostel fee hike is an ongoing issue and protests were held against it previously.
Following the attack, several Bollywood personalities including Vishal Bharadwaj, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dia Mirza, Rahul Bose, Richa Chadha and Taapsee Pannu led hundreds of people in a peaceful protest against the violence.
Apart from that, Alia Bhatt also condemned the incident.
As did Anil Kapoor, who while speaking to reporters had said, “It has to be condemned. It was quite sad, shocking, what I saw. It was very disturbing. I couldn’t sleep the entire night, thinking what has happened. It has to be condemned. Nothing will come out of violence. Whoever did this, they should be published.”
It’s
winter and your skin needs all the extra care you can give. cold weather can
result in dry air that can make your skin dry. Dry hands, tight skin and chapped
lips. These are some of the significant signs that indicate that your skin
needs to be moisturized.
Make sure that your skin is hydrated throughout the
winters. Hot showers may be tempting, but washing the face with lukewarm water
helps avoid stripping oils from the skin. And apply moisturizer after the wash.
Don’t forget to drink water
In winter we usually forget to drink forget because we do
not feel thirsty. Set alarms just to remind yourself that you have to grab a
glass of water.
Use a gentle cleanser
Try to use for a gentle cleanser to retain the skin’s
natural moisture. If your skin feels tight after you’ve cleansed, you may be
stripping your skin. Your skin should feel both hydrated and free from
irritation after cleansing. And don’t forget to drink lots and lots of water.
Protect
your lips
Normally we do not pay much attention to our lips but the
skin on your lips can also get dry and cracked during winter months. Try a lip
balm for added daily protection, and if you plan to be in the sun, use the
proper SPF to protect your lips from the sun’s potential damage.
Body
bonuses
It’s the season for creamy body lotions, foot balms and
moisturizing masks. Treat yourself to regular at-home spa moments to rejuvenate
and replenish dry and flakey skin.
At
home
The weather may be chilly outside, but inside, the
conditions could be affecting your skin. Use a humidifier and if you are using
a gas or electric heater, try to put a pot full of water in front of your
heater so that your skin does not become dry. Preferably maintain a neutral
temperature at home that will maintain the skin’s moisture and balance.
After brutal social media trolling and protest by students and alumni, the Lahore University of Management Sciences which became LUMS University aka LUMSU is back to being LUMS.
In an email sent out to the faculty, staff and students, LUMS VC Dr Arshad Ahmad said that the earlier email was sent out in good faith and “to reflect the reality of our five schools that comprise our university.” He said that the message was not intended to change the university’s name and that there is no change in the formal name of the university.
On Monday, LUMS announced that it was renaming itself Lums University as part of a recent overhaul. Soon after the email was sent out to students, professors and staff, the news made its way to social media and people started poking fun at the university’s new name. So much so, that LUMSU is currently trending on Pakistani Twitter at number 2.
Woke up to an admin email that says LUMS is no longer an acronym. The university is now formally called LUMS University (i guess on account of it being way more than just a place for people to study management)
Everyone from LUMS University cannot stop talking about them being from LUMS and the management has taken this wonderful step to stop the students from boasting every second because ‘i am from LUMSU’ is not going to sound cool.
Meanwhile, others called out users for directing their energy onto frivolous matters.
I wish we would have 1/10th as much interest in & time for discussing education policy questions & related themes as we have for a university changing its acronym. Ultimately whatever the name what counts is the output, quality & impact – but we are not interested.#LUMS#LUMSU
Pakistan’s number one morning show host Nida Yasir is anything but shy. She is full of energy, spunk and sass and is loved by millions of viewers across the world.
While Nida loves her audiences and is always willing to interact with them, in an exclusive interview with The Current revealed that she doesn’t allow male fans to take selfies with her.
When asked what is the worst thing about hosting a morning show, Nida, “You’re not left with any privacy. No matter where you go, to the bazaar or anywhere – I like to meet them [my fans] – but when I’m out with my guests and they have to stop and wait while I click pictures with my fans, I don’t like that,” adding that she can’t even say no.
Nida then shared that she never gets photographed by her male fans.
“It’s a rule,” she said. “The reason is because I have seen photographs of a lot of actresses on random pages with captions. They [other actresses] must’ve posed considering them their fans but the captions on Facebook etc say ‘Meet my friend, [XYZ].’”
“I don’t judge anyone ever since, but I’ll get photographed with families, with female friends, but not with male fans,” she remarked.
Arab-American actor Ramy Youssef who won a Golden Globe Award for best comedy actor for his role in the comedy series Ramy sent fans in frenzy after he thanked God and said ‘Allahu Akhbar’ while accepting the award.
Starting his acceptance speech with Allahu Akbar and thanking Allah, Ramy said, “We made a very specific show about an Arab Muslim family living in New Jersey and this means a lot to be recognised on this level.”
He then revealed that his mom was actually rooting for Michael Douglas, who was nominated in the category for his role Netflix’s The Kominsky Method.
“Egyptians love Michael Douglas,” Youssef remarked.
Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon presented the award to Youssef.
Speaking to reporters after the event, Youssef said, “I was going to say it anyway. I’m very thankful to God, and my show is about someone who believes in their faith, so I naturally don’t always feel like I’m on the same page with the comedic styles of Ricky Gervais on that subject.”
He also joked on how he is unknown compared to his fellow nominees.
“Look, I know you guys haven’t seen my show. Everyone’s like, ‘Is this an editor?’ We made a very specific show about an Arab Muslim family living in New Jersey, and this means a lot to be recognised on this level” he said.
Ramy explores the experience of a young Egyptian-American Muslim man living in New Jersey, who believes in God and embraces his heritage, while blending them with his American life. The comedy is loosely based on Youssef’s life and his experiences as a stand-up comedian.
Finland’s 34-year-old Prime Minister Sanna Marin has proposed cutting down the workweek and reducing it to four days consisting of six-hour workdays in a bid to transition the country to what she called “the next step for us in working life.”
According to CNBC, the PM said, “I believe people deserve to spend more time with their families, loved ones, hobbies and other aspects of life, such as culture. This could be the next step for us in working life.”
Specific details of Marin’s proposal are yet to be announced.
Finland has long been advocating flexible work schedules. In 1996, the government introduced a law that gave employees the right to shift their hours up to three hours earlier or later than their employers’ typical requirements.
Since taking office and becoming the world’s youngest prime minister in December, Marin has advanced that agenda. Marin sits at the helm of Finland’s Social Democratic Party and leads the country’s five-party, all-woman center-left coalition government.
However, Finland is not the first country to propose this. In 2015, Sweden tested out the six-hour workweek in Gothenburg. Results revealed that though happiness levels included it put a burden on public coffers.
Meanwhile, in November 2019, Microsoft Japan revealed that a trial four-day workweek boosted productivity by 40%.

The first lunar eclipse of 2020 – and the decade – will fall on January 10. Four penumbral lunar eclipses scheduled to take place in 2020.
Lunar eclipse, also known as the ‘Wolf Moon Eclipse’, is an astronomic event that occurs when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon and blocks some or all of the Sun’s light from reaching the Moon. A penumbral lunar eclipse occurs when the Sun, Earth, and the Moon are imperfectly aligned. When this happens, the Earth blocks some of the Sun’s light from directly reaching the Moon’s surface and covers all or part of the Moon with the outer part of its shadow, also known as the penumbra.
As per reports, the eclipse will start at 10:07 pm and end around 2:12 am. The full eclipse can be witnessed at 12:07 am.
Four such lunar eclipses are expected to take place in 2020. Other eclipses will likely occur on June 5, July 5 and November 30.
