    Zain Qureshi hopeful for father’s release after Eid

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and son of former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Zain Qureshi, said on Monday that he hopes his father will be released from jail after Eid ul Azha, Geo News has reported.

    A close aide to former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi has been in jail since last year.

    “This is my second Eid without my father. He has given the ultimate sacrifice. I’m hoping that he’ll be out of jail after Eid,” Zain Qureshi told journalists after offering Eid prayers in Multan.

    Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi are facing multiple cases. They were initially arrested in the cypher case and cases related to vandalism on May 9.

    Zain Qureshi also that his party is always ready for dialogue.

    First inning:

    Playing first West Indies scored 218 for the loss of five wickets in allotted 20 overs.

    Nicholas Pooran scored 98 runs on 53 balls. Apart from this Johnson Charles scored 43 and Rowman Powell scored 26 runs.

    Gulab Din took two while Omarzai and Naveen ul Jaq took one wicket each for Afghanistan.

    Second inning:

    Afghanistan could only score 114 runs in 16.2 overs.

    Ibrahim Zadran scored 38, Azmatullah Omarzai 23 while Rashid Khan scored 18 runs for Afghanistan.

    Obed McCoy took three while Gudakesh Motie and Akeal Hossein took two wickets for West Indies.

    The first match of the super eight stage of the T20 World Cup will be played between the USA and South Africa.

    In a related development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Saturday that government institutions incurring massive losses would be shut down.

    During his address to the nation, the premier stated, “I have decided to close institutions that have become a burden instead of offering assistance,” and added that a ministerial committee has been formed to oversee this process.

    “I will come to you with a new message in a couple of months,” PM Shehbaz said. “I believe this will be a significant step in reducing expenses and saving funds.”

    The premier also mentioned his recent trips to China and the Middle East, noting that commitments for investment were secured during these visits.

    Pakistani singer Chahat Fateh Ali Khan has offered his services to coach the national team after Pakistan’s poor performance in the T20 World Cup.

    Talking to Geo News in London, Chahat Fateh Ali Khan said, “When I was the team captain in a school in London, Aqib Javed’s father brought him to me and said that this is my son, take his trial, so I took his trial and placed him in the school team.”

    Regarding former national team fast bowler Waqar Younis staying with Chahat in a London flat, Chahat said, “Waqar Younis, Aqib Javed, Mushtaq Ahmed and Saeed Anwar came to give a trial, they stayed with me.”

    The singer said, “Waqar Younis stayed with me for three and a half months and then he signed a contract with Surrey County, after which he moved to his flat.”

    “All the players are our brothers and have been practicing with us. I met Mushtaq Ahmed during the recent tour of Pakistan but there has been no contact with Waqar Younis as his life has become very busy.”

    In response to a question about the coaching of the Pakistani team, he said, “I have been hearing for a long time that the Pakistani team has two coaches, four coaches, five coaches but only one coach is good. I know how to work with players. I will be one coach. I don’t need a bowling coach, batting coach and fielding coach. I am here for the team, you will have to pay only one coach.”

    The Pakistan cricket team is currently playing the T20 World Cup and will play their last match of the event today against Ireland. Pakistan is out of the ongoing event after two embarrassing defeats against USA and India.

    The Meteorological Department says storms and rain are probably coming to different cities in the country between June 18 and June 22, reports Geo News.

    Clouds are expected in upper plains and hilly areas, including Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, as per the report.

    Along with that, wind, squall and rain have been predicted in different areas of Balochistan from June 20 to 22.

    Meanwhile, wind and drizzling are expected in various Sindh cities on June 21 and 22, including Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, and Larkana.

    Highlighting recent diplomatic achievements, the Prime Minister referenced successful investment commitments secured during his visits to China and the Middle East. He began his address by addressing the situation in Palestine and the issue of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

    Reflecting on the political landscape, PM Shehbaz discussed the performance of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) post the removal of former Prime Minister Imran Khan through a vote of no-confidence in 2022.

    Celebrating his government’s completion of 100 days in office, the Prime Minister underscored recent reductions in petrol and diesel prices announced on Friday. “We must foster an environment conducive to investment, business, and education for our talented youth,” he asserted.

    PM Shehbaz stressed the importance of cultivating domestic investment before seeking foreign investments, envisioning Pakistan’s self-reliance and advancement ahead of its neighbors.

    Regarding economic achievements, he pointed to the Pakistan Stock Exchange’s rise to 77,000 points as a testament to the positive reception of the government’s recently unveiled federal budget.
