Sonali Bendre finally talks about rumors of Shoaib Akhtar crush

If you thought we have left behind the era of crazy rumors, you are mistaken.

The rumor that former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar threatened to kidnap Indian actress Sonali Bendre if she didn’t marry him has resurfaced online. During a podcast promoting her latest show, Bendre was reminded of Akhtar’s alleged crush on her. She responded, “I don’t know how true this is. Fake news existed even then!”

In 2019, Akhtar was reported to have said, “If she [Bendre] doesn’t marry me, I’ll kidnap her!” He later used his YouTube channel to deny the statement, calling it completely false. Bendre, surprised by the rumor, joked, “Thank God for that. Maybe that has made my career!”
Akhtar also addressed claims in 2019 that he carried a picture of Bendre in his wallet and wanted to marry her. He firmly denied all allegations, saying, “I never met Sonali Bendre. I’ve seen her in films, and she is indeed beautiful, but I’ve not been a fan.”

He praised Bendre’s bravery in fighting cancer, saying, “I became her fan when she showed how bravely she struggled against her illness. But, my brother, I had nothing to do with her. These are all lies.”

Work first, love later: Haris Waheed’s advice for actors

Actor and model Haris Waheed appeared as a guest on Journalist Maliha Rehman’s YouTube show and made some interesting revelations. In the show, he opened up about his romantic scenes with co-actors and shared a list of his favourite co-stars.

Talking about romance with co-actors, Haris Waheed said, “It’s not recommended to get romantically involved with co-stars because you’re here to work, not to pursue personal desires. If someone wants romance, they should do so outside of their workplace.”

Giving some leeway, Waheed added, “If there is honesty between the two people, it will eventually make its way.”

Talking about his favourite co-stars, Waheed said, “I enjoyed working with Zara Noor Abbas in Jhoom. In Jaan E Jahan, Tabraiz and Gulraiz also had great on-screen chemistry. Credit goes to Qasim Ali Mureed too; the chemistry you see is because of Nawal, me, and Qasim Ali Mureed. I also recently enjoyed working with Mashal Khan. Working with Sania Saeed is something I love. Saboor Aly, who I worked with in ‘Mujhe Wida Ker’, is naturally subtle and reactive. Working with her was a great experience.”

  • PTI conditionally ready to talk with government

PTI conditionally ready to talk with government

On Tuesday, the opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) signalled that it was ready to hold dialogues with trivial political parties albeit with some conditions – including taking back all cases against Imran Khan.

The offer was made by a couple of PTI lawmakers in the National Assembly as members indulged in verbal skirmishes.

“Invitations for talks have come from Rana Sanaullah, the political adviser to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif …. as well as President Asif Zardari. I want to put this before the house on behalf of PTI. When has Imran Khan refused to hold negotiations,” asked PTI’s Ali Muhammad Khan while taking part in the debate.

“We believe that if Pakistan is to be put on the right track, then we [the politicians] will have to make decisions. We do not need any broker, dealer or individual who brings us to sit together,” he said, adding that when they would take their fight outside parliament, “then the Supreme Court will come into action, and Pindi [a reference to GHQ] and Aabpara [a reference to the ISI head office] and many other forces will come into action”, said Mr Khan, who served as the parliamentary affairs minister during the previous PTI government.

He asked the speaker to take the initiative, stating that their first point was the release of Imran Khan and other “political prisoners” as well as the withdrawal of all “political cases”.

The PTI MNA also mentioned the arrest of Nawaz Sharif by Gen Musharraf, saying they could not support such an action. He said Imran Khan was being punished like his predecessors when they tried to make independent decisions.

Israeli settlers storm Al Aqsa mosque, raise Zionist flag

Dozens of Israelis reportedly stormed the compound of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Islam’s third-holiest site, and raised the Zionist flag.

Footage verified by Al Jazeera and released by Anadolu English shows a man holding the flag as an Israeli police officer speaks with him calmly and does not forcibly escort him from the compound.

The incident follows rallying calls made by Beyadenu, an organisation that says it aims “to strengthen the Jewish People’s connection” to the holy site, for the Israeli flag to be raised at the mosque on May 14, reported Al Jazeera.

Palestinians regard the day as the Nakba – or the “catastrophe” – which led to the creation of Israel and the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians.

The storming of the compound is a regular occurrence even though entering any part of it is forbidden for Jews due to the sacred nature of the site.

Simultaneously, videos have surfaced of Israeli forces brutally manhandling a young boy trying to enter the mosque at the Damascus gate of Jerusalem.
In previous years, Israeli forces have also attacked Palestinian worshippers inside the mosque.

Hockey captain Ammad Shakeel Butt blames PTI policy for sports decline

Pakistan Hockey team’s captain Ammad Shakeel Butt has blamed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) for a decline in the sports sector.

The captain met Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz yesterday, where he and the team were given prize money of Rs 3 crores for their stunning and unexpected performance in Azlan Shah Hockey Cup.

Addressing a press conference with Maryam Nawaz, Ammad Butt said, “The ban on departmental sports during the previous PTI regime caused a loss to sports. The ranking of the hockey team fell not because of losing matches but because of not playing tournaments due to lack of funds.”

Maryam then said, “Not only the sports sector, but the institutions of the entire country were destroyed during the era of one athlete,” a thinly veiled reference to PTI head Imran Khan, a former cricket captain.

The Government of Punjab had earlier announced Rs 20 lakh for the national hockey team but later after meeting with CM Maryam Nawaz, the prize was increased to three crores.

In the Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament played in the city of Ipoh, Malaysia, the national team won three out of five matches while two were tied, but in the final match, they were defeated by Japan.
