Sajid, Noman’s performance exposed many faces: M Hafeez

Former Pakistani captain Mohammad Hafeez has congratulated the team on their victory in the Test series against England but has also posted a controversial message.

The former Test player congratulated the Pakistani team for winning a home series after more than three years. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “The impressive performances of Sajid Khan and Noman Ali played a crucial role in Pakistan’s victory over England in the home series after more than three years. More importantly, their performances have exposed many faces.”

After the first Test loss to England, Mohammad Hafeez had heavily criticized the national team, saying they were searching for a win on home ground.

However, following the series win, Hafeez wrote on social media, “Credit goes to the new selectors who took the responsibility of making tough decisions, well done.”

In another tweet, Mohammad Hafeez wrote, “Special note: Noman Ali, Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel, Kamran Ghulam, and Shan Masood are all top performers at the domestic level.”

Pakistan defeated England 2-1 in the three-match Test series, winning the third Test by nine wickets.

‘I was genuinely heartbroken’: Madiha Imam opens up about trolling on marriage

Actress Madiha Imam has opened up about the hurtful trolling she experienced online, revealing how it affected her deeply.

Talking on Faysal Quraishi’s podcast, she discussed how she was trolled on social media.

The host asked, “Whose trolling hurt you on social media?”

Madiha replied, “It was during my wedding, I was heavily trolled, and I was genuinely heartbroken because I am usually not trolled much, as I keep to myself. But after my wedding, there was trolling about my husband being from India, about his religion. People linked it to his religion as if there’s only one religion in that country. I didn’t know that people here thought there was only one religion over there, when in fact, there are even more Muslims there than here.”

The Dil -e- Momin actress recalled how people made fun of her Nikkah ceremony, prompting her to share clarifications.

“When they made fun of my Nikkah, I shared pictures to clarify, and even then, I was humiliated. I realized that I shouldn’t have had to clarify, but I did it anyway because I have people who love me, who sometimes end up fighting with each other online. Out of the 1,200 comments, over 1,100 were negative, which was the first time I had experienced something like that in my life. It was ver.y embarrassing, and I thought, what I have done to deserve this,” Imam added.

She expressed her frustration over the personal attack saying, “Some people went as far as making fun of my facial features and belittling the sacred bond of Nikkah. But certain things are just not right. So, eventually, I decided to ignore it all. I thought, why bother clarifying, I tried very hard, but in the end, I was like, ‘To hell with it, man.’ Now, I just turn off my comments because it’s my personal life. You can’t disrespect any country, ethnicity, caste, or anyone’s appearance.”

The Beyhadh actress also discussed about how people are always watching her appearance closely.

Madiha said, “People would even mock my weight, saying, ‘she’s gained weight, maybe she’s pregnant!’ They’d go on about when I’d have a baby, and then they’d criticize that too. There’s no end to it. My mother would laugh and say, ‘Don’t feel the need to clarify. We know, your father knows, your family knows, and your friends know; let that be enough.’ But sometimes I still feel bad about what people say.”
Madiha Imam and Moji Basar tied the knot on 4 May 2023.

Netizens unhappy with remarks by outgoing CJP Qazi Faez Isa

As the outgoing Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa visited the monuments of the Supreme Court on October 25, he was surrounded by a plethora of reporters when he remarked: “You should be thankful to live in a country where you can say these things.”

Netizens, however, are not happy with the former CJP’s statement, calling it “problematic and highly condemnable.” In a Reddit post, a user posted the link to journalist Matiullah Jan’s recent video in which the former CJP could be seen walking around outside the Supreme Court yesterday when he passed these remarks in answer to journalists’ constant questions.

“Why does a now former chief justice find a problem when journalists ask valid questions? What did he mean by that? Even on his last day as a judge, he passes thug comments. How deplorable!” wrote the user in its post.

Another Reddit user commented: “He could have retired with grace and dignity. He sold his soul to the highest bidder and will face the consequence of his own actions.”

While another user commented: “Matiullah does know “Warna Kiya”. He faced contempt of court by a three member SC bench for tweets criticizing judges during Faez Isa case no less. Faez Isa wasn’t as trigger happy to use contempt as previous judges were.”

It should be noted that Supreme Court judges have been surrounded by infighting and controversy, especially regarding the government’s successful passing of the 26th Amendment, which was aimed at judicial reforms.

For instance, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah refused to attend Friday’s full court reference in honour of the outgoing Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Qazi Faez Isa.

The senior puisne judge Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, in a letter of refusal on the record of the reference proceedings, alleged that CJP Isa had not upheld the integrity of the judiciary during his tenure.

Full court reference is a long-standing tradition in legal systems and a ceremonial acknowledgement of the outgoing Chief Justice’s contributions and services to the judiciary, leadership and dedication to upholding the judiciary integrity.

In the strongly critical letter, Shah wrote: “To stand a Reference and celebrate such a tenure would send a message that a Chief Justice can betray his institution, erode its strength, act petty and low and still be celebrated as an honorable servant of justice. I am sorry, I in good conscience, cannot stand at a reference for such a Chief Justice.”

Syed Mansoor Ali Shah added, “Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, like an ostrich, with his head in the sand, remained complacent and indifferent to external influences and pressure on the judiciary.”

“His tenure will be defined by pettiness, vindictiveness, and a lowly approach to administrative matters, having no grace or humility,” he said to Qazi Faez Isa while concluding in a letter.

On Thursday night, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Ayesha Malik, and Justice Shahid Waheed, along with Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, remained absent at the reception of Qazi Faez Isa.

  • Is your childhood drama, CID, making a comeback on screen after six years?

Is your childhood drama, CID, making a comeback on screen after six years?

India’s CID was undoubtedly a top-rated drama watched avidly by many people in Pakistan.

The drama aired for 20 years before calling it a day in 2018 despite being very popular.

But the drama is returning to the small screen once again after a gap of six years.

Many old characters like ACP Pradyuman as well as Abhijeet and Daya are also returning.

However, the other actors who will be part of this drama again are unknown as yet.

Dinesh Phadnis, who played Fredericks, has already passed away.

The famed drama serial’s return was announced by the TV channel in a social media post.
According to the channel, an explosive promo will be released on October 26.

Over 20 years, 1547 episodes were aired.

Earlier, actor Sivaji Sattam, who played the lead role in ACP Pradyuman, shed light on the real reason behind the ending of the crime drama.

On this occasion, he shared, “Disagreements between the show’s producer and the broadcasting channel led to the closure of the show, which had been successfully running for 20 years.”

He further added, “Before the show went off-air, the channel changed its broadcast timing so that viewers would lose interest, or at least, that was the channel’s intention.”

  • Fawad Ch’s wife shuts up PTI’s Falak Javaid for dig at husband

Fawad Ch’s wife shuts up PTI’s Falak Javaid for dig at husband

A heated exchange of words occurred between Hiba Fawad Chaudhry, wife of former Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain and a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) worker Falak Javaid Khan on X (formerly Twitter).

The fiery exchange followed Chaudhary Fawad Hussain taking to X (formerly Twitter) to write: “What kind of leadership is this? Iss se acha tu establishment koi subedari officialy laga de.”

“Salman Akram Raja has been Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer from Panama until now. Who are the rest of these people?” Fawad Chaudhry asked, “The establishment has put us in jails and imposed its representatives on the party. As long as Imran Khan is in jail, they have a political life; when Imran Khan comes out from behind bars, they won’t even be visible.”

Responding to the post, Falak Javaid Khan critically replied, “Salman Akram Raja didn’t walk away like you; instead, he stood firm at a hard time, it’s our party matter, we’ll see to it, aap niklain shabash.”

Hussain’s wife Hiba Fawad Chaudhary, couldn’t hold back her anger and replied on X (formerly Twitter):

“Stop your nonsense and appear before the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), stay within your limit, Jummah Jummah aath din huway nahi.”

Meanwhile, in another post on X, Fawad Hussain accused Salman Akram Raja of making a fake money trail for former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in 2017, adding, “Those who facilitated the hiding of Nawaz Sharif’s multi-billion assets in Panama have now been imposed on Tehreek-e-Insaaf.”

Sharing a Dawn News previous report titled “Sharif family expresses full confidence on legal team” Ch Fawad Hussain wrote, “Politics ma raastay judaa hu saktay hain laiken jab ap jurram chupanay main madadgar hu aur Pakistan kay billions kay assets halaal karwa dain, kiya aap ko muaaf kiya jana chahiye.”

This development indicated the rift and clear divide between Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf leadership.

Earlier, Senator Faisal Vawda pointed out the formation of a forward bloc in PTI and disclosed that party members were not happy with the appointment of a forward bloc leader.

  • Israel attacks Iran’s military bases; Tehran claims ‘limited damage’

Israel attacks Iran’s military bases; Tehran claims ‘limited damage’

Israel said it conducted air strikes against Iran on Saturday that hit military bases and missile sites in retaliation for the Islamic Republic’s attacks, warning it would “pay a heavy price” if it responded.

The Israeli military said its strikes hit Iran’s missile manufacturing facilities, missile arrays and other systems in several regions.

Iran confirmed an Israeli attack had targeted military sites in the capital, Tehran, and other parts of the country but said it had caused “limited damage”.

Israel had vowed to hit back at Iran for its October 1 missile strike, the second-ever direct attack by the Islamic Republic on its arch-foe.

The rapid escalation of violence has heightened fears across the region and beyond of a wider war, pitting Israel against Iran and the allies it dubs the “axis of resistance” on multiple fronts.

“Based on intelligence, IAF (air force) aircraft struck missile manufacturing facilities used to produce the missiles that Iran fired at the State of Israel over the last year,” Israel’s military said in a statement.

“Simultaneously, the IDF (military) struck surface-to-air missile arrays and additional Iranian aerial capabilities,” the army said, adding that the “retaliatory strike has been completed and the mission was fulfilled”.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza, and since late last month, it has been at war with Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Both Hezbollah and Hamas are allies of Iran, as are armed groups in Yemen and Iraq and the government in Syria.

In a statement announcing the operation, the Israeli military said it was conducting “precise strikes on military targets in Iran”, in response to what it said were “months of continuous attacks from the regime in Iran”.

“The regime in Iran and its proxies in the region have been relentlessly attacking Israel since October 7th — on seven fronts — including direct attacks from Iranian soil,” the military said.

Iran to resume flights after Israel strikes, local media says

Iran will resume flights as normal from 9am (5:30am GMT), Reuters reports citing the semi-official news agency Tasnim, following a brief suspension after Israel struck military targets in the country.

Iran in April launched its first-ever direct assault on Israeli territory in retaliation for a deadly strike on Iran’s consular annex in Damascus.

    ‘Fully mobilised’

Israel’s genocide in Gaza has killed 42,847 people, the majority civilians, according to figures from the Gaza’s health ministry, which the United Nations considers reliable.

Israel has since broadened the scope of its operations to Lebanon, vowing to secure its northern border after nearly a year of attacks launched by Iran-backed Hezbollah in support of Hamas.

At least 1,580 people have been killed in Lebanon since September 23, according to an AFP tally of Lebanese health ministry figures.

Iran’s October 1 strike came after an Israeli air raid killed Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah and Revolutionary Guards general Abbas Nilforoushan in Lebanon on September 27.

The killing of Nasrallah, which dealt Hezbollah a seismic blow, followed the death of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh on July 31 in Iran in an attack widely blamed on Israel.

Iran’s air defence force confirmed an Israeli attack had targeted several military bases in Tehran and other areas.

“This fake regime (Israel) attacked parts of military centres in Tehran, Khuzestan and Ilam provinces,” it said in a statement, adding that the attack “caused limited damage” while being intercepted.

    US informed

Iran had in recent weeks warned that any attack on its infrastructure would provoke an “even stronger response”, while Revolutionary Guards general Rassul Sanairad said an attack on nuclear or energy sites would cross a red line.

US National Security Council spokesman Sean Savett said the “targeted strikes on military targets” are “an exercise of self-defence and in response to Iran’s ballistic missile attack against Israel on October 1.”

The United States was “informed beforehand and there is no US involvement,” a US defence official told AFP, on condition of anonymity.

The official did not say how far in advance the United States had been informed or what had been shared by Israel.

Syrian state news agency SANA said Israel conducted an air attack on Saturday from the occupied Golan Heights and Lebanon, targeting military positions in Syria.

Citing an unnamed military source, the agency said the attack at around 2:00 am (2300 GMT) had targeted positions in central and southern Syria.

The attack prompted Syria to activate its air defences, SANA said, as Israel announced it was launching “precision strikes” in neighbouring Iran.

Iran and Syria are allies in the so-called “axis of resistance” that also includes Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza.

“Our anti-aircraft defence is confronting hostile targets in the skies around Damascus,” state news agency SANA reported on Telegram.

SANA had previously reported the “sounds of explosions” in the vicinity of the Syrian capital.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a loose network of pro-Iran factions, claimed responsibility early Saturday for a drone attack against a “military target” in northern Israel, following the announcement of Israeli strikes on Iran.

Iraq suspended all air traffic Saturday at its airports until further notice after Israel its attack.

  • ‘We fooled English bowlers with false messages,’ reveals Sajid Khan

Pakistan off-spinner Sajid Khan has revealed that he fooled England’s bowlers with false messages in Urdu.

Mostly, he confuses them with his spin angles and flighted deliveries. But on Friday, he used another tactic: speaking Urdu to confuse the English bowlers Shoaib Bashir and Rehan Ahmed, who understand the language.

After the fourth ball of the 86th over, Saud Shakeel turned the strike over to Sajid. They discussed their strategy loudly in Urdu, not caring if the stump mic picked it up. Sajid was supposed to play out the last two balls, but instead, he charged down the pitch and hit Shoaib Bashir over midwicket for a six.

Sajid later explained, saying, “We speak loudly in Urdu to deceive Rehan Ahmed and Shoaib Bashir, who understand the language. We wanted the bowlers to think we were only looking for a single, which made them bring the field up and fly the ball. Saud then told me to go for big shots.”

Sajid followed the plan, hitting two sixes and a boundary in the next over, scoring 19 runs off it. Even though Rehan kept him quieter later, Sajid still managed to clear the boundary comfortably. By this time, England’s bowling effort was falling apart, and Pakistan’s lead was growing.

Rehan acknowledged Sajid’s good batting but dismissed his claims of fooling them. He laughed, saying, “He didn’t fool me at all; he just said it for the media. I didn’t even hear him. I knew he was going to try and scoop me, but it didn’t really work. He batted well and hit some big shots, but he didn’t fool me or Bash.”

Sajid scored 48 runs in the second innings of the second Test, hitting 4 sixes and two boundaries.
