  • Hasan Raheem is tired of media asking personal questions

Hassan Raheem has finally revealed the reason he is reluctant to give interviews. While talking to Gloss Etc, the Joona singer said that he isn’t asked about his art; instead the media is only interested in his personal life.

“Personally for me, the media doesn’t highlight the musical aspect when talking about me, despite how emotionally connected we are to it. They are always interested in my personal life, which is stuff that I don’t want to talk about. Which is why when someone comes up to me I want them to ask me about my music,” Raheem said.

He also talked about the conversation on proper security and protection provided to women and families on concerts, after the Karachi Eat Festival debacle. Singer Kaifi Khalil, who had cancelled his session after the event was mismanaged, had taken to social media to criticize men for behaving badly by drinking, harassing women and even attending the festival without a ticket.

Raheem revealed that his fan base comprised mostly of young women, and some of them also attended his concerts with their families, and cared about the fact that they have a good time, because an artist’s true connection with a fan happens on stage.

“My fans are mostly young women, and then other people who come to my concerts bring along their families. When you see something like this happening from the stage it creates a lot of discomfort for me, and I don’t want to take the show forward until we resolve this issue… I hope that any one who listens to me in their bedrooms, should be able to attend my concerts because they feel safe. That fees like a dream come true and that’s what I want. An artist’s main connection with a fan happens on stage. I forget everything when I’m on stage for the next hour. When I climb the stage, I go into a different state, and I know that I have to sing for that fan who is here to listen to me. I know that when I look them in the eye and sing, I know that I’m having a lot of fun and so is that fan. We have this telepathic connection which takes me to some other place. So when this is happening in a safe environment then that’s even better for me.”

On how this matter could be resolved, the ‘Faltu Pyar’ singer said there should be separate circles for men and women in concerts to prevent harassment or accidents from taking place.

“We create separate circles for both men and women who come to attend concerts. And then we dictate to everyone who is coming to the show that how they should behave, and act in a civilized manner at a place where they’ve come to listen to a singer. Aside from having fun, remember to be mindful of your manners if you’re at a public space. This is something I feel people are beginning to understand, which is why my shows are getting such a high attendance rate. There is a revival in the show industry. I feel like step by step we would have to start taking initiatives to address this matter, so we can over come this.”

Elaborating further, Raheem said that the government should also get involved and provide resources for proper security at concerts.

“The government should also take some action to fix this problem…because as artists, usually, there is a limit to what we can do. At some point, a limit falls over our resources. And I don’t want us to be limited. I would like that we all come together as a community to get to the bottom of this and make sure it doesn’t happen again…It’s necessary that we establish a proper system so such incidents don’t keep happening over and over again.”

  • Shah Rukh Khan’s moving speech at a media event is the reason why he’s the King of Bollywood

Shah Rukh Khan’s grace and ability to demonstrate determination and hard work in the face of hate is the reason why he’s the last superstar of Bollywood.

Speaking at a press conference to mark the release of Pathaan, he opened up about the controversies surrounding the film. Pre-release, Pathaan was attacked for being anti-Hindu, with BJP politicians and activists repeatedly sending threats to the actor and rest of the crew. Despite this, Pathaan became a massive hit, with multiple screenings playing even past midnight in cinemas across India.

Addressing the attacks the film faced, Khan called himself, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham ‘Akbar, Amar and Anthony’ and said that the main purpose of cinema is to spread love rather than hate.
“This is what makes cinema: Amar, Akbar and Anthony. There are no differences that any of us have for anybody, any culture, any aspect of life. We love you that’s why we make films. We love you to give us love. We’re hungry for love.”
Khan also revealed that it didn’t matter how much money the film made or how many box office records it broke, what mattered was the love and appreciation they got from people, and wanted to keep inspiring audiences with their work.
“This person was saying a million times ‘100 crore’, ‘200 crore’ or ‘1000 crore’. Despite the millions, the love we receive from the fans, and the happiness they experience from watching our film, there is nothing that we want more than that. We have to maintain our culture, our old stories, all that has seeped from our beautiful country. We have to tell the stories in modern ways, in different ways, in no way we are deriding any body,” the superstar said.

Since then, fans have been showering praises on the Bollywood super star, and praised him for always standing for religious harmony and peace.

“You will not found a better speaker of love, humanity and hope than this man”, one user wrote.

    Another user wrote:

“That’s the quality he has. A quality to make people understand what love truly means and what it stands for. Duniya me kitni hai nafraratein, fir bhi dilon me hain chahatein, marr bhi jaayein pyaar wale, mitt bhi jaayein yaar wale, zinda rehti hai unki Mohabbatein.”

Mahira Khan set to star in Pakistani remake of Meena Kumari’s ‘Pakeezah’

Star-actor Mahira Khan is set to fill the shoes of Meena Kumari in a Pakistani remake of the 1972 blockbuster, Pakeezah. The film is all set to be produced by Hamid Hussain and his UAE-based production house, Action Consultancy is bank-rolling the project.

While Khan will be essaying the role of Kumari, many prominent names are in consideration for the upcoming project.

Mahira Khan to star as Meena Kumari in Pakistani remake of 'Pakeezah'

The source revealed, “Mahira is onboard, but she is one of many stars we are aiming for in the remake of this epic. There are some more famous artists that are in talks to be roped in the film.”

Action Consultancy manages leading stars from South Asia, including Humayun Saeed, who featured in The Crown and Ahad Raza Mir, who was in Resident Evil, including Aly, who is all set to star as Maymouna in Jemima Goldsmith’s What’s Love Got To Do With It?. The agency has recently expanded its portfolio and ventured into financing international content and packaging films and series.

Pakeezah is one of the most popular Bollywood projects ever. According to the Indian publication, Mid-Day, Pakeezah took 14 years of dedication. One of the people associated with the making of the film had shared that for director Kamal Amrohi, a day would be considered productive even if a single shot was completed.

Pakeezah was considered one of the most expensive films to have been made in the 70s. The project was made on a budget of between INR12.5 million (US$160,000) to INR15 million (US$190,000) and was released on February 4, 1972.

Pakeezah opened to mixed responses from critics. The magnum opus was criticised for its extravagance and plot. Nevertheless, it was the highest-grossing Indian film of the year, collecting INR60 million (US$750,000) after a theatrical run of over 50 weeks. Trade analysts said its popularity might have been caused by Kumari’s death a month after its release.

Kumari was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress and won a special award at the Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Awards; the film also received nominations for Best Film and Best Director (Amrohi) and won N B Kulkarni a trophy for Best Art Direction at Filmfare.

While Mahira is still riding high on the success of The Legend of Maula Jatt, she will also be seen with Fawad Khan in Neelofar.

  • Farhan Saeed, Imran Abbas, others express disappointment on Pakistani economy’s plight

Farhan Saeed, Imran Abbas, others express disappointment on Pakistani economy’s plight

Pakistan recently faced a nationwide power breakout, several parts of the country also battled severe gas shortage, and now with the rupee losing its value further against the dollar, netizens and celebrities are struggling to feel patriotic. Prominent Pakistani actors weighed in on the deteriorating conditions of the country’s economy and whether we, as a nation, have lost all hopes for betterment.

“How will we ever recover from this? Since I’ve been alive, I’ve never seen the Rupee strengthen against Dollar drastically,” Farhan Saeed wrote on Twitter on Saturday while reacting to the Pakistani rupee standing at an all-time low against the dollar.

Concerned about how non-serious people are taking the economic distress we’re in, he added, “But still we are either this party or that party, but not Pakistan. No one’s serious about where we are, have we lost hope?”

Actor Imran Abbas also made a cryptic post while sharing Finance Minsiter’s viral video.

Ushna Shah shared her two cents on the subject. Claiming that she loves Pakistan and its people, she added how it gets harder to feel love when you can’t live a hassle-free life due to the unavailability of basic resources.

“I love my country, I love my identity, and I love my fellow Pakistanis. But when there is no electricity and no gas at the same time, there is a shortage of petrol and UPS crashes due to overuse, and literally, no way to power the house when I need coffee, well, tarana gana thora mushkil hei. (it’s hard to sing the national anthem then)” she wrote.

Actor Aijaz Aslam questioned how productive political press conferences are if all that happens is leaders blaming each other while the civilians struggle to live.

“What’s the point of these press conferences? Leaders just blame each other and nothing else. No one ever discusses the strategies to bring stability to the country. The currency devaluation is unstoppable and basic commodities are unaffordable for a common man, Reham karo (Bless us)” read his tweet.

  • Sajal Aly cast as main lead in ‘Umrao Jan’ drama adaptation

Sajal Aly cast as main lead in ‘Umrao Jan’ drama adaptation

Sajal Aly has been cast as the main lead for the upcoming drama adaptation of the popular novel ‘Umrao Jan’, as per reports from Variety.

The drama is being produced by Dubai-based South Asian celebrity management agency Action Consultancy, while Hamid Hussain and Muhammad Yaqoub will also be serving as producers.

The Urdu language novel was written in1899 by Mirza Hadi Ruswa, which depicts India in the 19th century, particularly the lives of courtesans. It follows the life of Amiran, a little girl living in Faizabad by a man who later sells her to a brothel.

Speaking to Variety, Hussain promised that the adaptation will be unlike the previous films, because it relies “heavily on the original Urdu version of the novel, unlike the film adaptations that had taken creative liberties to fit the story into a film narrative,” further adding “there is a lot in the novel that has never been shown in an audiovisual project.”

Previously, the novel was adapted in the 1972 Pakistani film “Umrao Jaan Ada” which was directed by Hasan Tariq and cast Rani as the main lead. In 1981, Bollywood’s “Umrao Jaan” (1981) cast Rekha as the seductive courtesan, while Aishwarya Rai Bachchan then later took on the role in J.P Dutta’s 2006 ‘Umrao Jaan”.

  • SRK’s response to the haters? Never stop moving forward

SRK’s response to the haters? Never stop moving forward

Only two days after Shahrukh Khan’s Pathaan was released in cinemas across India, the film has broken all records to become one of the biggest box office hits by making INR 231 crore worldwide.
Fans and movie critics are calling it the perfect comeback for the King of Bollywood. After facing months of scrutiny and backlash such as the arrest of his son Aryan Khan in October 2021, after which the charges were dropped due to no evidence. The film’s release became a target for BJP politicians and religious clerics, who used the song ‘Besharam Rang’ as their rallying cry to boycott the film. A seer from Ayodhya even went on to threaten to burn Shah Rukh Khan alive were the film to release in cinemas. BJP activists referred to the scene where actress Deepika Padukone is wearing a saffron-colored bikini, and claimed that the scene was anti-Hindu after which they called for a boycott over the film.
However, these threats and bribes as an attempt to dismantle King Khan proved to be unsuccessful because three days later, theaters continue to be jam packed with thousands of devoted fans coming back for multiple screenings of ‘Pathaan’, and gushing about the brilliance of the film. Reports are arriving that unusual show timings like midnight or even 6 am in the morning have been added due to the popularity of the film.
With all this praise, Shah Rukh Khan reached out to his fans on Twitter to give them an important lesson to remember that even surrounded with hurdles and endless criticism, we must never stop moving forward.

Fans of Shah Rukh Khan were deeply moved by this advice.

“Stars and celebs don’t need me rooting for them, but I totally love this gentleman, the kind of grace and courage he showed, as a father, when he and his family were bullied and judged and punished, I really want him to win! Go, Shah Rukh Khan!” one user wrote.

“Timely advice for many of us who feel stuck, or are living our own versions groundhog day’esque monotony,” another user wrote.
