How did Juvaria Abbasi meet Adeel Haider?

Actress Juvaria Abbasi has embarked on a new journey in her life, finding love with Adeel Haider after her first marriage did not work out.

Adeel and Juvaria appeared as guests on Gup Shup with Fuchsia where both talked about their first meeting.

“We met over dinner at a common friend’s place and obviously, I had seen Juvaria first,” Adeel told host Rabia Mughni.

“So, it was nice. We had a good conversation, and it started well,”  Juvaria added.

“We spent a little extra time with each other to get to know each other better, because, obviously, it was difficult for her to decide, especially with the comments coming in and everything happening around us. So, naturally, there were concerns, you know, about how society perceives these things. Her daughter is growing up, and the time for her marriage is approaching.”

The host asked, “You didn’t know who she was when you met her?”

Haider said, “When we met for the first time, I had no idea who you were. I had no clue at all because I don’t watch TV or Pakistani dramas. No one around me even mentioned it to me. We never discussed what’s happening in the dramas. So, since I didn’t watch them, I never discussed it either. So, I knew her, but when we spoke, we had a lot of conversations, and I really found her to be a very interesting person. That was the starting point, I just wanted to know more about her. Then the entire night went by, and for the next two nights, I kept trying to find out on Google who she was. Then I realized, oh, she is someone.”

Juvaria Abbasi and Adeel Haider tied the knot on March 15, 2024.

  • Nadia Afgan thinks THIS one thing is crucial for marriage

Nadia Afgan thinks THIS one thing is crucial for marriage

Actress Nadia Afgan gave an interview to Zabardast hosted by Wasi Shah, where she talked about an important aspect of marriage.

“You can’t suffocate anyone; everyone has their own space, and as long as they are in that space, they will grow and flourish, and they will be happy too. If you start intruding into that space, whether it’s a personal boundary or any other, it creates discomfort. For example, in my home, I have a designated time where I spend time with my book, or I spend it in silence, or I spend it with my cup of tea. When someone interferes in that space, it bothers me. People then start to retaliate, and it turns into frustration. That’s when I’ve noticed that relationships begin to weaken. You have to give space, even to husbands and wives. I often talk about this and say, ‘Please, give each other space’,” the actress said.

Sharing her personal example about her husband, she commented:

“My husband Jawad really loves playing Call of Duty on PlayStation, he works the entire week. He goes to work in the morning and comes back at six in the evening. He works for PSO. Saturday is his only relaxed day. Everyone asks me, ‘Why don’t we get this kind of relaxation?’ So, on Saturdays, he has his gaming night.”

Pakistani band performs in Bangladesh; military called in to control massive crowds

A massive crowd forced the Bangladeshi army to intervene during Pakistani band Jal’s recent concert in Dhaka.

Jal returned to perform in Bangladesh after 14 years alongside local bands at the Legends of the Decade concert in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka on Saturday.

“Dhaka Arena was initially chosen for the concert, but due to rain, the venue was changed urgently and the concert was organized in a mall,” GEO reported.

According to the organisers, the emergency change of venue led to severe chaos at the concert.

Many fans forcibly entered the concert without purchasing tickets.

  • The missing paintings featured in ‘Kabhi Mein, Kabhi Tum’ have been returned to the artist

The missing paintings featured in ‘Kabhi Mein, Kabhi Tum’ have been returned to the artist

Safdar Ali Soomro, a talented artist from Daharki in Ghokti, Sindh, never imagined that his paintings would be featured in the smash hit drama Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum. He lost the paintings a long time ago.

Now, Ferrier Hall management has returned the paintings to the artist, who confirmed their discovery in a Facebook video.

“I was previously asked to collect my paintings on September 30, and I have now retrieved my paintings after many years.”

He demanded, “Over the past seven years, my paintings, which have earned crores of rupees by being displayed in various exhibitions, plays and cafes should also earn me royalty payments.”

He thanked the media for raising its voice, stating, “It was only due to media support that I was able to recover my paintings.”

Later, when the paintings were featured in the play Kabhi Mein, Kabhi Tum he raised the issue on social media, prompting the Sindh Culture Department to form a committee to investigate the matter.

The Inquiry Committee, in its report, claimed that Safdar Ali Soomro’s paintings were not stolen but remained in Ferrier Hall. The confusion arose because the paintings were frequently moved from one place to another for exhibitions, leading to the mistaken belief that they had been stolen.

  • Coldplay ticket scalping fiasco sparks backlash in India

Coldplay ticket scalping fiasco sparks backlash in India

British rock band Coldplay’s upcoming tour of India has triggered a police investigation and dismayed fans after scalpers bought up cheap tickets to resell online for more than $1,000 apiece.

Thousands of music fans tried and failed to buy tickets for three concerts scheduled in financial hub Mumbai next January, sold by popular Indian online ticket portal BookMyShow.

All three shows sold out in minutes, and those who missed out were infuriated when they saw $70 (6,000-rupee) tickets appear on resale websites at vastly inflated prices.

“The tickets are being sold at 10 times, 20 times, 30 times the price that is being sold on the website itself,” student Anna Abraham, 19, told AFP.

“I wouldn’t feel good about it myself if I knew that I paid for something 30 times more than what I could have paid for.”

Local media reports said BookMyShow’s chief operating officer was questioned by police Monday after a complaint brought by Mumbai lawyer Amit Vyas, who claimed the vendor was working with “black marketeers” to make an extra windfall on ticket sales.

“I checked with nearly 100 people who I know are regulars at concerts, none of them had gotten a ticket,” Vyas said, according to the Indian Express newspaper.

“This made me suspicious. I then decided to approach the police as I knew that something was amiss.”

BookMyShow issued a statement after the public backlash began last week, saying it had “no association” with unauthorised ticket selling.

“Scalping and black marketing of tickets is strictly condemned and punishable by law in India and BookMyShow vehemently opposes this practice,” the company said.

Controversies surrounding tickets for major international musical or sporting events are not new.

US megastar Taylor Swift lashed out at Ticketmaster in 2022 following fan anger over sales to concerts staged for her globe-spanning ‘The Eras Tour’.

The debacle sparked debate over the Ticketmaster’s privileged position in the industry amid fan complaints of hidden fees, rampant ticket scalping and limited tickets due to presales.

  • Indian poet stands with Palestinians, refuses American award

Indian poet stands with Palestinians, refuses American award

Indian poet Jacinta Kerketta has declined an award from an American organization as an act of protest against Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

Jacinta Kerketta was selected for the ‘Room to Read Young Author Award 2024’ by an Indian non-governmental organization in collaboration with USAID, for her children’s poetry collection Jirhul. However, she refused to accept the award, citing the USA’s involvement in the Gaza genocide.

“The local organization that selected me for the award works for children’s education, but it is funded by organizations like USAID, which do business with arms companies responsible for the massacre of children in Gaza,” she said.

She added, “How can the business of armaments and the care for children coexist when the world of children is being destroyed by these same weapons?”

She concluded, “Books are important for children, but thousands of children were killed in Palestine, and elders are unable to protect them.”

  • Nadeem Baig says awards have ‘no value’ after Arsalan Naseer wins against Naumaan Ijaz

Nadeem Baig says awards have ‘no value’ after Arsalan Naseer wins against Naumaan Ijaz

Director Nadeem Baig has raised concerns about the credibility of awards shows in the entertainment industry.

Recently, Baig appeared as a guest on Say It All with Iffat Omar, where he talked about how Arsalan Naseer won the Best Actor award, beating Naumaan Ijaz.

“For instance, in front of Naumaan Ijaz, Arsalan Naseer, who just entered the industry through YouTube, he gets an award for Best Actor. I’m sorry, this surprises me. Actually, such awards don’t exist in Pakistan. There is one award for fashion, and they have to include the film and TV category so that they have good attendance and good faces sitting in the front row. They give five awards each for film and TV. So it’s about the category. You cannot put Sajal Aly and Saba Hamid in the same category, it will be very unfair.”

Talking about the credibility of the current awards show, he categorically stated:

“I think the awards that are being given, they hold no value. I’m not saying this lightly, I mean, when something is so public, if you don’t acknowledge it, it diminishes your worth. The awards you give then lose their significance. It’s as if everyone just shows up today and gets one of these social media awards, including Lux, I don’t know what the format is, but when the public is voting, it can be hacked. You can hire 500 people to vote or do something else. At the end of the day, what happens is that you receive a surprise there that leaves you  stunned.”
