  • Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar reprimands women writers

    Pakistani writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar reprimanded women writers for humiliating relationships in dramas.

    In an interview when Khalil-ur-Rehman was asked what was the reason that people in showbiz are so afraid of him, he said: “People are afraid of me because I am honest with my work. They will be afraid of dishonesty.”

    He added: “Female writers have stigmatised relationships like that of a sister-in-law, mother-in-law and brother-in-law.” He said that there are 99.9 per cent women who are writing in the industry but they only write about family politics and stigmatise sacred relationships.

    The Mere Paas Tum Ho writer spoke on a variety of topics. While giving his opinion on the friendship between males and females, he said that there is no such thing as a friendship between a girl and a boy. “This is the biggest lie in the world.”

    Qamar has been involved in many controversies including a debate on Aurat March slogans with Marvi Sirmed. He said to Ms Sirmed that “no one would even spit on your body” and that she was a “cheap woman” who should “shut up”. He was criticised by politicians and prominent figures, while Geo TV suspended his contract. He said, he did not interrupt her but she interrupted him when he was talking.

    Mahira Khan’s quarantine is all about glorious skies, candles and Noor Jehan

    Mahira Khan, who is currently in quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19, has revealed how she has been keeping herself busy during this time.

    “I have listened to old songs, read lots, written and written and written, watched some amazing films, smiled while thinking of life and cried too, lit candles and then re-lit some more every night,” shared the actor.

    She further said that she missed her son and loved ones dearly but “in my moments of pain and discomfort..I could only thank the universe for the life I have lived and continue to live. Every little thing – all the tender mercies and blessings.”

    Concluding her note, she said, “Here I am, sitting on top of a roof.. watching the sky in all its glory. Added Madam Noor Jehan’s Chaandni Raatein to it.”

    “‘We only truly die when we are forgotten’ – She lives every day and forever,” wrote Mahira. Noor Jehan’s 20th death anniversary was observed on December 23.

    Meanwhile, Ahmed Ali Butt shared a picture of himself with his grandmother on social media to remember her on her death anniversary.

    “Always in our hearts,” wrote Ahmed in the caption.

    Madam’s granddaughter, Natasha Ali Lakhani also gave tribute to her grandmother by dressing up like her in a white silk saree and similar makeup. She also shared a video of her mother and aunts talking about their late mother.

    Music streaming platform Patari has revealed the top songs and artists for the year 2020, among other stats.

    According to their lists, Ali Sethi, Shamoon Ismail and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan are among the most streamed artists in Pakistan.

    Shamoon Ismail’s song Rung was the most streamed song followed by Bilal Saeed and Momina Mustehsan’s Baari.

    Meanwhile, Strings was the most-streamed band in 2020, while Teri Tasveer by Bayaan was the most streamed album this year. Hadiqa Kianai was the most streamed female artist in 2020.

    Did you know Ali Abbas and Ramsha Khan are cousins?

    Ali Abbas and Ramsha Khan, who are currently sharing the screen opposite each other in Ghissi Piti Mohabbat, are cousins in real-life.

    In a recent interview, Ali revealed that Ramsha is his first cousin.

    “I don’t think a lot of people know this but Ramsha is my first cousin. She is my aunt’s daughter,” shared Ali. “Since childhood, we hung out – all the cousins – and she used to call me Ali Bhai.”

    “Now there we were holding hands and we had to look into each other’s eyes and deliver all these lines [in Ghissi Piti Mohabbat],” he added.

    Abbas further shared that he had to tell director Ahmad Bhatti that they had this problem.

    “Then the ice broke, we sat down because we were destroying the scenes and we decided to put the cousinship aside and to focus on work,” he said further.

    Mahira Khan, who is celebrating her birthday in isolation after testing positive for COVID-19, has thanked her fans, friends and family for their good wishes and prayers.

    In an Instagram story, the actor wrote: “I’m going to try and reply to all the love and messages I have received in this time. And all the wonderful birthday messages, letters and videos too.”

    Mahira shared that is better and on her way to recovery.

    “Have no doubt in my heart that all of your prayers worked their magic. I felt the love, I felt it all. I love love you all,” added the actor.

    Mahira had revealed that she had tested positive for COVID-19 on December 13, days after wrapping up the shoot for her upcoming film Neelofar.

    Neelam Muneer Khan has recovered from the novel coronavirus after a two-week battle.

    In a video posted to Instagram, Neelam said: “I am doing fine after recovering from the virus. I will make another video soon to tell people about the diet I was on during the two weeks I remained in self-isolation.”

    She also thanked everyone for their prayers and encouragement.

    The actor had tested positive for the virus on December 9.

    “This has been one of the most challenging and difficult things that personally me and my family have ever had to endure,” Neelam had shared at the time.
