Renowned director Syed Noor is not just a master of storytelling but also is also a romantic at heart.

Recently, Syed Noor appeared as a guest on ‘Coffee with Samaa’ hosted by Naeem Hanif and Bushra Khan.

During the conversation, Noor said, “I went to pick Saima up from her home for a shoot, and we were chatting when I held her hand. As soon as I did, she looked at me and said, ‘Now that you’ve held my hand, never let it go.’ I knew right then that I wanted to spend the rest of my life making her happy.”

The two tied the knot in July 2005, choosing to keep the relationship secret for several years.

“My first wife, Rukhsana, was a very brave woman. She was quite worried after I told her about my decision to marry Saima, but later she realized that I was true in my love. She gave me permission to marry Saima and allowed her to have all legal rights as my wife. I patiently waited to announce my second marriage until I had Rukhsana’s permission,” Noor added.

When it comes to his children’s reactions to his second marriage, Noor said, “After Rukhsana’s death, my elder daughters married early and left the country; they did not accept Saima. • France bids farewell to screen legend Alain Delon

France bids farewell to screen legend Alain Delon

As tributes for film legend Alain Delon poured in from around the globe following his death at 88, France was preparing on Monday its farewell to one of its greatest stars.

No national tribute has been planned, as Delon had made it clear he did not want one. He said he wanted to be buried near his dogs on his property in Douchy in central France where he died.He had already started sounding out the local authorities there, Christophe Hurault, the sub-prefect of Loiret, told AFP. The prefecture “had given its agreement in principle”.His three children, Anthony, Anouchka and Alain-Fabien, having squabbled bitterly for months over his medical treatment, spoke in a unified voice Sunday when they announced their father’s death. Now they have to manage the funeral of the screen icon, deciding whether to limit it to close family or extend it to the cinema world.Delon, naturally, dominated the front pages of France’s newspapers Monday, many of them featuring full-page portraits of the actor in his prime.”The Last Samurai”, wrote Le Figaro for its front-page headline, a reference to one of his most famous roles, as the enigmatic assassin in Jean-Pierre Melville’s 1967 thriller “Le Samourai”.

    – End of an era –

Delon’s performances in some of the greatest films of the 1960s and 70s were widely praised, his charisma on screen impossible to ignore. He was one of the last living legends of a golden era for French cinema in the 1960s.Fellow 60s star Brigitte Bardot, 89, told AFP Delon “leaves a huge void that nothing, nobody, can fill”.French President Emmanuel Macron called him a “French monument” who “played legendary roles and made the world dream”.His death was covered by newspapers around the world, with the New York Times, Washington Post and New York Post all publishing lengthy obituaries. The Washington Post described him as the “angel-faced tough guy of international cinema”, while The Hollywood Reporter said he was the “seductive star of European cinema”.”Mesmeric and beautiful, Alain Delon was one of cinema’s most mysterious stars,” The Guardian critic Peter Bradshaw wrote.Germany’s Spiegel called him “Europe’s James Dean”, while Sueddeutsche Zeitung said the “aura of the handsome angel of death made him a legend”.Italy, where he spent much of his career, also gave extensive coverage to his passing. “There will never be another actor like Delon, unique and immortal”, wrote Il Corriere della Sera.La Stampa and La Repubblica bid “adieu to the legend of French cinema”.”For me, he was a legend,” 26-year-old moviegoer Victor Roussel told AFP before a showing of his 1963 film “The Leopard” at a Paris cinema Sunday.”Alain Delon really represents French cinema with a capital ‘C’”.

    – Controversial views –

While he had legions of fans around the world, his personal life and political opinions divided opinion.Delon’s relationship with women caused controversy. His sons accused him of domestic violence, which Delon denied while admitting slapping women during quarrels.Delon also drew criticism for supporting Jean-Marie Le Pen, leader of the far-right National Front, who was in favour of the death penalty and spoke against same-sex relationships.Feminists were also appalled by the lifetime achievement award the Cannes Film Festival gave him in 2019.He lived his later years largely as a recluse, though his personal life kept him in the headlines. In 2023, his three children filed a complaint against his live-in assistant Hiromi Rollin, accusing her of harassment and threatening behaviour. The siblings went on to wage a public battle in the media and the courts, arguing over his health, which worsened after a stroke in 2019.Delon lived out his final years in the small village of Douchy, surrounded by high walls, where he planned to be buried not far from his dogs.Outside the entrance to his home, dozens of fans placed flowers to pay their respects.”In our minds we believe that these icons are eternal,” said Marie Arnold, laying white flowers with her sister Michele.”It’s a part of our youth that is gone, it’s very sad.”

Rubina Ashraf is better at saving money than we are

Rubina Ashraf is not just one of the most talented actresses to have ever graced Pakistani silver screens but also one of the smartest.
The veteran star has revealed her financial acumen in a recent interview and all we can say is, she is so much better at saving than we are.

‘Hasna Mana Hai’ host Tabish Hashmi asked Ashraf on a recent episode, “So those who earn money through acting, we often see that our actors are very wealthy during their prime, with big cars and large mansions, but then suddenly there’s a decline and they’re struggling to find money for medical treatment. So, do you manage your finances wisely? Do you invest the money you earn or spend it?”

Rubina replied, “When I earn 100 rupees, I make sure to spend only 25 rupees, but due to inflation however, I save 50 percent of what I earn. I’ve been diligent about financial planning and believe in saving for the future. This has been my approach since the beginning of my career.”

We wish we had that type of discipline.

Currently Rubina Ashraf is starring in ‘Kia hai drama’ where she reviews Pakistani serials.

The heated debate  between  actress Resham and veteran director Syed Noor has gone into the fifty gear as both icons share their perspectives on their professional relationship.

Syed Noor appeared as guest on Dr Affan Qaiser’s podcast,

where he said, “Resham is an intelligent person. Unfortunately, she dislikes me as her teacher, despite the fact that I introduced her to the film industry. She considers Ayub Khawar and a select group of people as her teachers. I’m glad I introduced, launched, and groomed her and that I put effort into her appearance. I have no complaints about her.”

“I don’t know why she isn’t getting work or why others aren’t casting her, but right now, I don’t have a role for her. If I do find a role that suits her, I will offer it to her. I’ve shared my thoughts, but she never acknowledges me. She should show me the work her other teachers have done for her. As I said, I’m not upset with her,” Noor added.

  • Punjabi boys just want to have fun: Wild Wild Punjab review

Punjabi boys just want to have fun: Wild Wild Punjab review

I recently watched ‘Wild Wild Punjab’ on Netflix and thoroughly enjoyed it. The film is  the story of a group of friends who embark on a riotous journey to crash their buddy’s ex-girlfriend’s wedding. Determined to seek closure and declare, “I am over you,” they set off on a mission to Pathankot, fueled by heartbreak and a few drinks. The cast, including Varun Sharma, Sunny Singh, Jassie Gill, and Manjot Singh, deliver impressive performances in this comedy. The film’s writers and directors, Luv Ranjan and Simarpreet Singh, deserve credit for giving new faces a chance to shine in roles that fit their characters perfectly.

The story is engaging, with the friends navigating their conflicting desires and misadventures, all while maintaining a light-hearted, comedic tone. The music in the film is exciting and enhances the film’s lively atmosphere. The film features upbeat tracks like ‘Meri Baggi Mera Ghoda’ and ‘Husn Irani,’ which add to the energetic vibe. The film’s message about the importance of friendship and adventure is valuable.

While the friends’ journey is entertaining, it also highlights the significance of embracing life’s chaos and unpredictability.

This could be a one-time watch film recommendation. ‘Wild Wild Punjab’ is a fun, colorful, and heartwarming film that you can enjoy with family but I will not recommend you to watch with family because of the slang language used in the film.

One drawback of the film, in my opinion, after the interval was becoming drag there were some extra scenes. The film can be a little short instead of dragging it.
