Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan paid a surprise visit to different areas of Islamabad and interacted with the general public, specifically with small vendors on the streets.
According to the statement issued by the PM Office, “PM Imran Khan drove to public places in Islamabad without any security and protocol. The PM visited G-11 Markaz and talked to vendors.”
On his visit, he asked about the condition of business amid the COVID-19 pandemic. He instructed them (vendors) to follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the government to curb the spread of COVID-19.
In addition, PM drove the car in the capital because he also wanted to see the arrangements done by the local administration for Ramzan.
People expressed happiness on seeing the premiere among them without any protocol. Besides, PM visited the Sewerage Plant I-9 and Korang Cricket Ground in the federal capital.
Amid the pandemic, business activities and routine life is disrupted. The government of Punjab has also imposed a smart lockdown in all major cities of Punjab.
Pakistan reported 4,414 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s Covid-19 tally to 8,29,933.
The country’s death toll climbed to 18,070 after 113 more people succumbed to the deadly disease.

Just days after Maulana Tariq Jamil’s flagship store opened its doors in Karachi, news of the brand selling nara’s (drawstrings) at a price of more than Rs 500 started circulating on social media with some people criticizing the religious scholar for selling overpriced stuff.
However, according to a press release circulating on social media, the brand has denied the news of selling drawstrings.
“It has come to our notice that MTJ- Tariq Jamil is being accused of selling drawstrings (nara) for Rs.550 apiece,” reads the statement.
“We would like to clarify that the news is fake.”
“We do not manufacture drawstrings (nara) and our stores and website have never placed such article for sale,” the statement added.
“Please beware of spreading false news and help us report those who are involved in this malpractice.”
Maulana Tariq Jamil was criticized for starting his own clothing brand despite being a religious cleric after which he shared a video message on his social media accounts to explain the reason for launching his own brand.
“Since 2000, I had been thinking about starting a business for my religious activities, especially to run a madrassa. During COVID-19’s lockdown, I have the opportunity to put that idea into practice.”
“That was my intention [to make the madrassas self sufficient] and a few of my friends collaborated with me, after which we launched a brand with my name,” he added.
Former captain of the Pakistan Women Cricket Team Sana Mir has praised Punjab Minister for Health Dr Yasmin Rashid for her dedication towards her duty, despite being a cancer patient.

Dr Yasmin Rashid underwent breast cancer surgery at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital in December last year. As per reports, the surgery was successful and she is currently recovering from the disease.
After pictures of Dr Rashid looking weak and unwell recently went viral on social media, users are praising her for working tirelessly to deal with the COVID-19 emergency in Punjab and thanked her for her efforts. They also prayed for the minister’s swift recovery.

Pakistan is currently battling a deadly third wave of COVID-19. According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), Pakistan has recorded 151 deaths and 5480 positive cases in the last 24 hours with a positivity ratio of 9.61 percent.

Meanwhile, it is also being reported that cities with high positivity ratios would be put under complete lockdown to control the spread of the disease.

In a series of explosive revelations, former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General (DG) Bashir Memon has stepped forth with rather damning allegations against Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan and his team.
According to reports, he has claimed being told by the premier’s aide on accountability, Shahzad Akbar, to frame Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
“When we entered his [Akbar’s] room, we were told that a case was needed against Justice Isa,” reports quoted him as saying.
Judgeship of Supreme Court’s Justice Isa is hanging in balance over a presidential reference against him for concealing assets of his family. He has challenged the verdict of the apex court on the reference, arguing he could not be held answerable for the same.
While Memon alleged that the case against Justice Isa was a brainchild of the premier, he also claimed being mocked by PM Imran for not going after Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif.
“He said all he needed to do was to make a phone call to NAB [National Accountability Bureau], and the next day Shehbaz was arrested.”
Memon also quoted Imran as saying that look at Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s ways and see how things are done there so as to avoid talks about the constitution and law.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Health Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra under Sections 6 to 17 of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Epidemic Control and Emergency Relief Act 2020 for violating COVID-19 protocols, Dawn Newshas reported.

As per details, Minister Jhagra attended an iftar party at a local restaurant in Peshawar, where dine-in at restaurants has been banned by authorities amid a sharp surge in COVID cases in the province. In addition to that, no COVID-related SOPs were followed at the gathering.
The owner and manager have also been booked for hosting the aftar party on the premises.
Peshawar Assistant Commissioner Ehteshamul Haq while talking to Dawn said that the administration took timely action after pictures of the iftar were shared on social media.
“There will not be any kind of compromise on coronavirus SOPs. If SOPs are violated, the law will come into action,” added the official.
The restaurant was also sealed after the pictures of the iftar party went viral on social media.

The development comes as Pakistan continues to struggle in its war against COVID-19. Over 5,000 new cases with at least 145 death were reported in the past 24 hours alone. The infections tally stands past 0.8 million.

Former Prime Minister, Khaqan Abbasi was served a show cause notice on Wednesday for threatening to hit Speaker of the National Assembly, Asad Qaiser with a shoe during an assembly session. During the session Khaqan Abbasi and the Speaker got into an argument over Abbasi’s turn on speaking on the issue of banned TLP’s demand to expel the French Ambassador.
After the notice to apologise in seven days, Abbasi said that he only seeks forgiveness from Allah and no one else. On Thursday night, on GEO News’ programme Capital Talk, he told anchorperson Hamid Mir that if he wants to speak on the issue, he challenges the Speaker to stop him from speaking. If the Speaker tries to stop him, the same thing would happen again. When Mir stopped him to say that “you have been the Prime Minister, how can you say such a thing? Will you throw a shoe?” Abbasi replied, “It will be worse than throwing a shoe.” He said he is also nominated in two cases.

A Hindu woman hailing from Jacobabad District, Sindh has become the country’s first Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) after clearing the Sindh Public Service Commission exam.
Manisha Rupita, while talking to the media about her feat, said: “After the death of my father in 2007, we faced hardships but my mother refused to compromise on our education.”
Manisha credited her success to the support of her family especially her mother who did not let her give up on her dream. The 26-year old funded her education by giving private tuitions.
Manisha believes her success will encourage the girls of rural Sindh to break cultural barriers.
“I don’t look upon myself as a representative of Hindu women alone, rather I think I represent the rural women of Sindh,” said Manisha. “Conventionally and culturally, rural women whether Muslim or the Hindu are expected to stay at home and refrain from going out to realise their dreams.”
“My message to them is to break these barriers and try their luck in the world that is full of promise.”
Prime Minister Imran Khan’s official Instagram account on Tuesday became very interesting after a short clip from the Bollywood movie Inquilaab was posted on it leading to a social media meltdown.
Through the clip, PM Imran attempted to make a point about how political parties discredit their rival political parties in order to replace them.
“It is what has been planned against the PTI govt from day one by the corrupt mafias,” read the caption on the clip, which was deleted five hours after it was posted.
Speaking to BBC Urdu, Focal Person to the Prime Minister on Digital Media Dr Arsalan Khalid said that the clip was posted by a member of PM Khan’s social media team because the scenes “accurately reflected the current situation and the unrest of the opposition.”
Explaining the reason behind the deletion, Dr Arsalan said that a routine quality control check — that takes place after few hours — led to the deletion of the clip.
When asked if PM Khan personally makes these posts on social media, Dr Khalid said the premier mostly uses Twitter and that all tweets are posted by him, adding that PM Imran rarely uses Instagram and has a team to manage that.

In the clip shared on PM Khan’s account, Kader Khan and Utpal Dutt are seen planning a sinister move against the government.
“We have the right to form a government. In order to form a government, we need to win the elections. To win the elections, we need votes; in order to get these votes, we need people’s confidence. And how do we get the people’s confidence? We will need to take away people’s confidence from the government. Haha. And how do we do that? We will create an environment where we will make them think that this government is incompetent and inefficient. This way, the people will be forced to get rid of the government and bring another party in its place. For this we need to create chaos. We need riots, killings, dacoities in cities. We need religious disturbance, sectarian conflict, which renders government incapable of thinking and police is unable to do anything to control the crisis. When all this is happening, we will go out and take out rallies addressing crowds and present ourselves and our party as an option to control this mess.”
Responding to this, someone in the meeting says it is an excellent idea.
“We need money for this, which is why we have invited rich businessmen here today to raise it.”

Following the sugar inquiry commission report last year, the friendship between Jahangir Khan Tareen (JKT) and Imran Khan ended, with JKT leaving for London and then later returning. Although Imran Khan has not publicly talked about his relationship with his old friend and former Secretary General of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), it seems like they are calling each other again and are about to meet up.
PTI MNA Raja Riaz, who is part of what is called the ‘Jahangir Tareen group’, has revealed that the two ex-friends had spoken to each other.
Raja Riaz told Geo News that the JKT group was going to meet for iftar today (Wednesday) but it was postponed after they were told they were going to be meeting with the PM, and their issues would be resolved during that meeting. Riaz also said that it wasn’t confirmed whether JKT would be attending. “An iftar dinner scheduled to be held at Tareen’s residence has been postponed after we were told the prime minister will meet the PTI lawmakers.”
“We are confident that most of the issues will be resolved during the meeting,” he said.

There was confusion over whether JKT would be meeting the PM as well (along with the group of PTI lawmakers known as the JKT group), but JKT told the Express Tribune, “We have been assured that the premier is ready to meet us. However, [I want to make it clear that] we will only meet the prime minister and not a governmental committee…during the meeting, we will present our grievances with regard to the sugar inquiry commission and the FIA’s [Federal Investigation Agency] cases [filed against the JDW group owned by Tareen].”
Raja Riaz also said on Shahzeb Khanzada’s programme that they are of the view that JKT was being unfairly targeted and he said that “hopefully we will get a big relief when the prime minister comes to know about the facts.”
Last week, more than 30 lawmakers were known to have sided with JKT, some that were willing to resign, and had met with JKT in the public showing up at a dinner at JKT’s place in Lahore. After the public show of support by the PTI lawmakers, PM Khan had contacted JKT.
