    Another PTI MNA resigns from core committee after Omar Ayub’s resignation

    After Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Omar Ayub, another lawmaker has resigned from party’s core committee, ARY News reported on Saturday.

    Member National Assembly (MNA) Junaid Akbar resigned from the party’s core commitee, articulating that he is not part of any group and will never be.

    The MNA criticized mystery individuals without naming them, stating that some people are using the party for their personal benefits, adding that only these folks can approach incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

    “These individuals meet Imran Khan, and they don’t let us meet him,” Akbar added.

    Juniad Akbar also said that party leadership is not ready to listen to his concerns and they don’t involve him in decision-making.

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Rauf Hassan has said that former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and ex-Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair is interested in joining PTI, ARY News reported on Thursday.

    Rauf claimed that former president Arif Alvi had sent a message that Muhammad Zubair wanted to join the party.

    “If Muhammad Zubair is interested in joining PTI, Imran Khan will take the final decision,” saidRauf Hassan. However, he also stated that PTI will not accept those who left the party in difficult times.

    Rauf Hassan also confirmed that there is no possibility of a forward bloc in the party.

    “The PTI is a big party, and there might be groups of people,” Rauf Hassan added.

    Imran Khan alleges intelligence agency officials interfere in prison affairs

    Founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Thursday filed a petition in Islamabad High Court (IHC), emphasizing the crucial need for the court’s intervention in the matter of intelligence officials interfering in prison affairs.

    In the petition filed through his counsel Shoaib Shaheen, Khan made the startling revelation that the prison is effectively under the control of two intelligence officials.

    He also stated that despite IHC’s orders, the superintendent of Adiala Jail didn’t allow him to meet with party members.

    “This whole process has been dealt with by the colonel and major of ISI who create interference and indulgence in the civil administration due to having a mala fide intention against the petitioner and due to their interference the petitioner is unable to consult with party leadership and his fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution are not protected,” said Khan in his petition.

    He also said that Nawaz Sharif, when he was imprisoned, was allowed to meet with more than 15 people a day without any interruptions.

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat has demanded Senator Shibli Faraz’s resignation, claiming it is the only way to liberate PTI from the “Qabza Mafia.”    

    Sher Afzal Marwat wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter): “If Shibli will resign, I promise, the party will rise as per the need of the hour”.

    Marwat’s demand came after PTI leader Omar Ayub resigned as the party’s Secretary General on Thursday.

    Marwat had refused to work with Shibli Faraz and Omar Ayub, alleging that they don’t allow him to meet incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

    The maverick PTI lawmaker is angry for multiple reasons, as the party revoked his nomination last month for the position of National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman.

    PTI also removed Marwat from the party’s core and political committees for violating the party’s code of conduct.

    Former Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi met his cousin and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) chief Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain in a bid to improve family relations, putting aside the decision to choose a different political path.

    During the meeting between the two, both confirmed that family relations between the cousins have been reestablished.

    “Reconciliation was achieved between the Chaudhry brothers and family relations have been restored,” sources confirmed.

    The politicians who were also present at the meeting between the Chaudhry brothers disclosed that both cousins agreed to keep their political paths separate, adding that Chaudhry Shujaat invited Parvez Elahi to rejoin PML-Q.

    Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has offered talks to incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan to resolve political differences.

    During his address to the National Assembly (NA), the PM emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation in leading the country towards economic growth and political stability.

    “In my first speech, I stressed the importance of the Charter of Democracy. Now, it is imperative that we agree on a Charter of Economy,” said PM Shehbaz.

    “If their [PTI] founder is facing troubles [in jail], then I reiterate: come, let’s sit down and talk,” Shehbaz Sharif said during his speech in the National Assembly (NA).

    Talking about the February 8 polls, PM Shehbaz said: “We joined the parliament despite the [rigged] polls. The sort of slogans that were raised during my first speech will always be remembered as a dark chapter in the history books.”

    A district and sessions court in Islamabad will announce its reserved decision today in incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi’s petition to suspend their sentence in the Iddat case.

    A district magistrate has convicted Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan on February 3 and imprisoned them for seven years in an iddat case on a plea filed by Bushra Bibi’s former husband, Khawar Maneka.  

    However, additional district and session court judge Afzal Majoka will announce the verdict on Bushra Bibi’s petition today.

    Imran Khan is serving his sentence in the Toshakhana case, the £190 million reference case and the Iddat case.

    If Imran Khan gets relief in Iddat case today, he will be released from the jail, as courts have already suspended Khan’s sentences in Toshakhana case and £190 million corruption case.

    The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered on Wednesday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) lawmaker Zartaj Gul’s name be removed from Exit Control List (ECL).

    Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri heard a petition filed by Zartaj Gul to remove her name from ECL.

    The Assistant Attorney General (AAG) and the PTI leader showed up before the court for the hearing.

    The court ordered the AAG to remove the MNA’s name from the ECL and present a report within a week.

    US Congress calls for probe into February 8 election rigging allegations

    The United States House of Representatives on Wednesday overwhelmingly voted in favour of an impartial investigation into claims of election rigging in Pakistan following the February 8 polls.

    Pakistan’s general elections were marred by a nationwide mobile internet shutdown on election day, delays in results, leading to accusations that the elections were manipulated.

    The US house voted 368-7 over a resolution calling for “full and independent investigation of claims of interference or irregularities in Pakistan’s February 2024 election.”

    Furthermore, it also condemned “attempts to suppress the people of Pakistan’s participation in their democracy, including through harassment, intimidation, violence, arbitrary detention, restrictions on access to the Internet and telecommunications, or any violation of their human, civil, or political rights.”

    Michael Kugelman, Director of South Asia Institute at The Wilson Center in Washington, said the vote margin was significant.

    In a social media post, he wrote, “85 per cent of House members voted on it, and 98 per cent voted in favour of the resolution.”

    PTI leader Shehbaz Gill also took to twitter to express his thoughts on the matter.

    Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Sanaullah has said on Tuesday that the federal government has a plan to file new cases against incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan to delay his release from Adiala jail.

    Imran Khan was ousted from his office in April 2022 through the opposition’s no-confidence motion and is currently in Adiala jail facing multiple cases.

    Former Prime Minister Imran Khan will stay behind bars in the iddat case even after getting relief in £190 million reference and Toshakhana.

    “Imran Khan’s main agenda is to destabilise the country and spread chaos and anarchy in the country that’s why the government will certainly try to keep him behind bars as long as possible,” Rana Sanaullah said while talking on Geo News programme’ Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath’.

    He also stated that the government will file new cases against Khan to keep him in jail for a long time as courts have granted relief to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder in several cases.
