    Pakistan vs New Zealand’s T20 series trophy unveiled

    The trophy for the five T20 match series between Pakistan and New Zealand has been unveiled.

    Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi and Kiwi captain Kane Williamson participated in unveiling of the T20 series trophy.

    In the first T20, the Pakistani team will enter the field under the leadership of Shaheen Afridi with four fast bowlers. Apart from Shaheen Afridi, the other fast bowlers will be Amir Jamal along with Haris Rauf and Zaman Khan, according to Geo News.

    Sources say that Muhammad Nawaz will be preferred over leg-break googly bowler Usama Mir in the first T20I, while Saim Ayub will open the innings with wicketkeeper-batsman Muhammad Rizwan.

    Former captain Babar Azam will play at number three while the aggressive Fakhar Zaman has agreed to play at number four.

    Azam Khan will play as a wicketkeeper if he joins the eleven-member team.

    The first match of the five-match T20 series between Pakistan and New Zealand will be held in Auckland on Friday, January 12. Shaheen Afridi will lead the national team for the first time.

    A-Sports has bought the TV rights of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9 for six billion and 30 crore rupees, Samaa has reported.

    According to the details, A-Sports bid six billion and 30 crore rupees, Ten Sports made a bid of 5 billion and 28 crore rupees, while PTV tried to get PSL rights for 5 billion and 25 crore rupees.

    A-Sports will now own TV rights for two years.

    The bid for TV rights of PSL started at four billion rupees. Blitz has acquired digital PSL rights with a bid worth 1 billion and 90 crores.

    Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans has partnered with clothing brand Gym ArmourPK for PSL season 9.

    Gym Armour will manufacture the playing (home and away), training, and travel apparel for Multan Sultans and will also be the official merchandise distributors.

    In a press release, Multan Sultans General Manager Hijab Zahid said, “We are delighted to be signing Gym Armour as our official merchandise partner. It is only befitting that the leading brands of the two industries have come together.

    “Our home and away kits, training gear, and travel equipment are in the final stage of production and I am very much confident that the fans of Multan Sultans and HBL PSL will love them.”

    Gym Armour Director Muhammad Hassan Sattar said “It gives us immense pleasure to be partnering with the most successful franchise of the HBL PSL.

    Team India’s star fast bowler Muhammad Shami has been given the Arjuna Award, the 9th Indian male cricketer to receive the coveted honour. Shami’s performance in World Cup 2023 was outstanding, with the most wickets in the tournament, 24 scalps in seven matches.

    President Droupadi Murmu presented the Arjuna Award to Mohammad Shami.

    Talking to ANI, the bowler said, “This award is like a dream for me. Life goes by and people don’t win this award. I am happy that I got it. Receiving this award is like a dream come true for me as I have seen many people getting this award in my life”.

    For Mohammad Shami, World Cup 2023 was nothing short of a dream come true. Shami wreaked havoc with the ball and was the highest wicket-taker in the tournament.

    Heinrich Klaasen is retiring from Test cricket

    South African wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen announced on Monday that he is retiring from Test cricket.

    According to a report by the International Cricket Council (ICC), South African wicketkeeper-batsman Klaasen will remain available for white-ball formats.

    Klaasen played four Tests during his career, making his debut against India in Ranchi in 2019 and last representing his team against West Indies in 2023.

    He scored 104 runs at an average of 13 in his four matches, with his highest score being 35 against Australia in Sydney.

    In a statement, Klaasen said, “After a lot of thought as to whether I am making the right decision I have decided to retire from Red Ball Cricket, it is a difficult decision that I have taken as it is by far my favorite format of the game. It’s been a great journey and I’m happy that I could represent my country, my Test cap is the most valuable ever.”

    Former Pakistan bowling great Wasim Akram has slammed a Pakistani user on Instagram for a personal comment on his post.

    Wasim Akram is having a fun-filled trip to Australia where he also commented during the Pakistan Test Series. After being part of a critically acclaimed show shot in a Pakistani studio during the 2023 ODI World Cup, the former captain of Pakistan provided commentary for Pakistan’s three-match Test series against Australia while he was there with his wife Sheneira. He keeps posting happy shots on social media.

    His latest photo is a selfie in a sleeveless shirt during a walk. A user posted an odd remark on Akram’s photo, taking a dig at the legend’s personal appearance. Akram, seen in other photos with Waugh, Ravi Shastri, and Michael Vaughan, was quick to shut down the troll.

    Returning it to the Pakistani user, the legend from Pakistan wrote: “Idiots in my country are talking about armpit hair, but the world has reached the moon.”

    ICC Under-19 World Cup’s schedule announced

    The schedule for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Under-19 World Cup has been released.

    The U-19 World Cup was scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka but has been shifted to South Africa due to the suspension of the island nation as an ICC member. The tournament will start on January 19, while the final will be played on February 11.

    Here is the complete schedule of under-19 cricket World Cup:

    The 41 matches of the tournament will be played at five venues in South Africa. A total of 16 teams are participating in the mega event, divided into four Groups.

    Group A of the U-19 World Cup includes India, Bangladesh, Ireland, and the USA, and Group B includes England, South Africa, West Indies, and Scotland. Australia, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, and Namibia are in Group C while Afghanistan, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Nepal are in Group D.

    Pakistan U-19 cricket team will play their first match against Afghanistan on January 20, while they will take on Nepal on January 24 and New Zealand on January 27.

    Pakistan’s Kishmala Talat has qualified for shooting competitions in this year’s Paris Olympics.

    Kishmala Talat qualified for the final by scoring 575 points in the first round of women’s 10-meter air pistol at the Asian Shooting Championship in Jakarta.

    The Asian Games bronze medalist also put up an impressive performance in the final, where she battled India’s Ayesha Singh for the gold medal.

    Kushmala won the silver medal and secured a place in the Paris Olympics for Pakistan.

    Secretary of Pakistan Shooting Federation Razi Ahmad Khan has confirmed that Kishmala has secured a place for the Paris Olympics 2024 by getting an Olympics quota place, making her the third Pakistani shooter to qualify for the Paris Olympics after Gulfam Joseph and GM Bashir.

    Arshad Nadeem has also secured a place in the Olympics in athletics while equestrian Usman Khan’s qualification position is considered strong too.

    Shakib al Hasan becomes Member of Parliament after winning seat in Bangladesh elections

    Former Bangladesh cricket team captain Shakib-ul-Hasan has become a Member of Parliament after winning a seat in the country’s parliamentary elections on Sunday.

    Bangladesh’s famous all-rounder and former captain defeated his opponent in the Magura constituency by a margin of more than 150,000 votes.

    Shakib al Hasan participated in the election on the ticket of Awami League, the ruling party of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid.

    According to reports, Hasina Wajid has also won for the 8th time from her native constituency, in an election mired by controversies and allegations of rigging.

    All the opposition parties of Bangladesh, including the BNP, completely boycotted the election based on the government’s reprisals, arrests, and punishments.

    Before the election, Shakib al Hasan expressed concern about participating in the election, saying that he could play a balanced role in cricket and politics. Shakib al Hasan has not yet retired from the sport.

    He is the only cricketer to hold the International Cricket Council (ICC) number-one all rounder ranking in all three cricket formats simultaneously.

    National team coach Grant Bradburn parts ways with Pakistan cricket

    National cricket team coach Grant Bradburn, who worked with the Pakistan team in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s Cricket World Cup played in India, has parted ways with Pakistan cricket.

    In a post on ‘X’, Grant Bradburn announced his resignation, stating, “Time to close the amazing chapter that has been Pakistan Cricket. 3 roles over 5 years, I’m proud of what’s been achieved & and grateful to have worked with so many outstanding players, coaches & and staff. Wishing the teams, staff & and everyone at Pakistan Cricket continued success & and growth.”

    Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s former management appointed Bradburn as the team’s coach for two years in May and he was asked to report to the National Cricket Academy.

    Grand Bradburn will soon take over the coaching of Glamorgan County.

    The former batting coach of the Pakistan Cricket Team, Andrew Puttick, had also parted ways with the PCB and joined the Afghanistan cricket team without informing the Board.
