    Indian women athletes return medals to govt in protest against sexual harassment

    A number of female athletes, including female wrestlers, have returned their medals to the Indian government in protest against sexual harassment.

    India’s famous female wrestler Vinesh Phogat left two valuable awards on the roadside after not being allowed to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

    Phogat and several other female wrestlers have accused former Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexually harassing female wrestlers for years. Vinesh Phogat won medals in the World Championships, Commonwealth Games, and Asian Games.

    A large number of athletes, including female wrestlers, also protested, but they were lathi-charged by the police and several people were arrested.

    Australian cricket team opener David Warner has announced his retirement from One Day International (ODI) cricket after bidding farewell to Test cricket.

    Warner, the opening batsman of the Australian team, said in a press conference “I am taking retirement minutes from ODI cricket as well, I will be available to Australia in the T20 format.”

    Warner, star of many of Australia’s stellar victories, will play the last Test of his career against Pakistan in Sydney.

    Junaid Khan is new bowling coach of Pakistan Under-19 team

    Former fast bowler Junaid Khan has been appointed as bowling coach of the Pakistan Under-19 cricket team.

    According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Junaid Khan will be the bowling coach of the team in the U-19 World Cup, while current coach Rehan Riaz was not available for the tournament due to family commitments.

    34-year-old Junaid Khan recently coached Islamabad region. Islamabad won the Hanif Muhammad Trophy under Junaid Khan’s coaching.

    Junaid Khan took 189 wickets in 107 international matches.

    President Pakistan Olympic Association Lieutenant General (R) Arif Hasan resigned

    Pakistan Olympic Association (PAO) President Lieutenant General (retired) Arif Hasan resigned from his post after 19 years.

    Lt Gen Retd Arif Hasan wrote in a letter to the Executive Committee of the Pakistan Olympics Association members that he is resigning as President of POA on January 1, 2024.

    He further wrote that the decision was not easy but due to ill health, he needed help to continue the responsibility of heading such an important organization.

    Arif Hasan is currently living in America where he confirmed his resignation when contacted by Geo News, while Secretary POA Khalid Mahmood has also confirmed Arif Hasan’s resignation.

    Arif Hassan was appointed as the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the South Asian Games in 2002, after which he remained active in Pakistan Sports, in 2004 he became the first President of the Pakistan Olympic Association and was then elected for four consecutive terms.

    After the resignation of Arif Hasan, the executive committee of the POA will temporarily decide on the acting president until the next elections.

    The Pakistan team management has decided to debut the aggressive young batsman Saim Ayub in place of Imam ul Haq in the Sydney Test.

    The team management has decided to debut the aggressive young batsman Saim Ayub in place of Imam ul Haq in the Sydney Test. Saim Ayub will open the innings with Abdullah Shafiq in the third Test.

    Nepali cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane found guilty in rape case

    Nepali cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has been found guilty of raping a girl.

    According to Nepali media reports, Judge Shashar Raj of the single bench of the Kathmandu District Court delivered the verdict on Friday.

    In the court decision, Sandeep Lamichhane, the former captain of the Nepali cricket team, was declared guilty of raping the girl. According to the court, the girl was not a minor at the time of the rape. Sandeep Lamichane will be sentenced at the next hearing.

    In September last year, a 17-year-old girl filed a complaint against Sandeep, alleging that the cricketer raped her in a hotel room in Kathmandu.

    An arrest warrant was issued leading to the sportsman’s arrest at the airport on his return to the country.

    On January 12 this year, on a review petition filed by Lamichhane, the High Court ordered the release of the cricketer on a surety bond of Rs 20 lacs. He is currently on bail.

    Sandeep Lamichane has also played in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), representing Lahore Qalandars.

    National team Test captain Shan Masood has equaled former captain and legend player Imran Khan’s 40-year-old record of two consecutive fifties against Australia in both innings of a Test match.

    Masood created the record by scoring half-centuries in two consecutive innings in Australia, scoring 54 runs in the first one and 60 runs in the second one of the second Test match against Australia.

    His performance in both innings marked a milestone, making him the first Pakistani captain since Imran Khan to score half-centuries in both innings of a Test match in Australia.

    In 1983, Imran Khan scored 83 and then an unbeaten 72 runs. In 1964, Hanif Muhammad scored 104 and 93 runs in a single test match against Australia.

    Australia defeated Pakistan by 79 runs in the second Test match in Melbourne on Friday.

    Chasing a target of 317 runs set by Australia, the Pakistani team was bowled out for 237 runs in the second innings and the Green Caps lost the match by 79 runs.

    In the second inning, Pakistan did not start well and Abdullah Shafiq was dismissed for four runs while Imam ul Haq also returned to the pavilion with an individual score of 12. The third player to be dismissed was Shan Masood who was dismissed for 60 runs.

    Babar Azam scored 41 runs and was clean bowled by Josh Hazlewood while Saud Shakeel scored 24 runs and was caught out behind the wickets on Starc’s ball. Muhammad Rizwan also scored 35 runs and was dismissed by Pat Cummins while Pat Cummins also dismissed Aamir Jamal for no run.

    Salman Ali Agha played an innings of 50 runs while Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mir Hamza were also dismissed for zero.

    On behalf of Australia, Pat Cummins bowled brilliantly and dismissed five players while Mitchell Starc took four, and Josh Hazlewood dismissed one player.

    Australia has taken a decisive lead in the series with 2-0.

    The batting maestro fulfilled a child’s dream by taking a picture with him in Melbourne.

    During the ongoing test match between Australia and Pakistan, a child in the stands became emotional upon seeing Azam.

    The child can be seen in the video telling Babar Azam that he watches every inning and is also a fan of his cover drives, adding that he wanted to take a picture with him. The former captain first shook hands with the child and then granted his wish.

    After the picture was taken, the child jumped in the air in joy.
