Afghanistan defeated Pakistan in the semi-final of the Asian Games in China, after winning the toss and inviting Pakistan to bat first.
The entire team returned to the pavilion after scoring only 115 runs, after which Afghanistan needed 116 runs to win, achieving the set target with a loss of 6 wickets in 17.5 overs.
Qasim Akram led the Pakistan team, while Umeer Bin Yusuf scored 24 runs. Arafat Minhas was unbeaten on 14 runs, Amir Jamal scored another 14 runs and Rohail Nazir scored 10 runs.
It should be noted that earlier India had won against Bangladesh in the semi-final. Afghanistan will face India in the final.
We know y’all were incredibly dissapointed by the lackluster effort that was ICC’s cricket anthem ‘Dil Jashne Bol’ but fear not, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is here to save the day with the absolute banger that is ‘Koi Nahi Like Us’ featuring Young Stunners, QB, HYDR and AHSAN. The verdict is out: cricket ka to pata nahin but we lead the race when it comes to good cricket anthems.
One user on Twitter wrote: “Whether we win or not, Anthem toh winner hai. You’re lying if you didn’t have a blast seeing all the cameos, especially the fan who danced to Atif’s anthem. A HUNDRED points for the cat cameo!”

“The chorus and beat are quite catchy! The video is absolutely amazing with stunning aesthetics, and the lyrics are so relevant! Far better than the song released by ICC,” another user wrote.

India will play their first match against Australia on October 8, however, there are reports that even before their first match in the World Cup, star batsman Shubman Gill has been infected with Dengue fever.
World number two batsman Shubman Gill has tested positive for dengue, due to which his participation in the World Cup match against Australia has become doubtful.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) landed itself in a hilarious predicament when on Thursday, in a bid to fill empty stadiums, it fraudulently gave tickets for the England-New Zealand while telling them they were for the Pakistan-India match.
Outside the Narendra Modi Stadium where England faced off with New Zealand in the first match of the ICC World Cup, the women told media that they had been given tickets by the BJP, adding that they had been promised food inside the stadium as well.
One woman told a journalist that they were at the stadium, “to watch the Pakistan -India match.” Upon being told that the match was between England and New Zealand, the woman said, “We were told it’s Pakistan Vs India, that’s why we were sent here.”
New Zealand has defeated England by an astonishing margin of nine wickets in the first match of the World Cup 2023 played in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
The Kiwis won the toss and decided to field against England in the opening match of the World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in a one-sided contest.
In the first inning, England scored 282 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs, with Joe Root scoring 77 runs and captain Jos Buttler scoring 43 runs.
New Zealand easily achieved the target of 283 runs given by England in the 37th over with the loss of just one wicket. Dion Conway scored 152 off 121 balls while young Richan Ravindra played an unbeaten innings of 123 runs on 96 balls.
The second match of the ICC Cricket World Cup will be played tomorrow between Pakistan and Netherlands.
The ICC Cricket World Cup has started today, but Indian authorities are yet to issue visas for Pakistani journalists. Indian visas are only issued for Pakistan Cricket team. Ramiz Raja and Zainab Abbas, who are joining as commentators, have been issued visas.
This will be the first World Cup since 1975 in which no Pakistani journalist will be present in the press gallery.
India has not yet issued a visa to any Pakistani journalist, while some Pakistani people who are associated with the ICC (International Cricket Council) have also not been issued visas. Pakistanis working in British media organizations are also not getting visas. It seems that until the Pakistan-India match on the 14th, Pakistani journalists will not get visas.
Social media users are questioning the decision by the ICC to let India host the World Cup when there is no opening ceremony and barely any spectators in the first match.
Interestingly, when the Asia Cup was being partially hosted by Pakistan, some Indians criticized the ‘empty stadium’ in Multan. Now, the tables have turned, India is the host, the first match is between New Zealand and England, finalists of the last World Cup, and the stadium is empty. There was no opening ceremony for ICC World Cup 2023 and honestly, we can’t see spectators either.
This one’s hilarious, to be honest, does this remind you of Asif Zardari too?

Osama highlighted multiple issues regarding the World Cup being hosted in India
Opening ceremony canceled, scheduled changed numerous times, ticketing issues, visa delays for participating team, warm up to be played behind closed doors due to security, completely empty stadium in the opening match, is India really the right venue to be hosting global event?
Trendulkar hopes that the stadium will fill up after office hours
Currently, the stadium in Ahmedabad looks empty for the World Cup opener. Hope it gets gradually filled up after office hours.pic.twitter.com/VsBCZahnwg
On Wednesday, a Delhi court granted Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan divorce from his wife Aesha Dhawan, on grounds of cruelty inflicted by his spouse. The couple married in 2012, and share a 10-year-old son.
According to NDTV, the family court judge accepted Mr Dhawan’s accusations of “mental torture’” inflicted by his wife, who was unable to prove the allegations to be false. The petition details multiple instances where Dhawan was exploited, put in mental agony after being refused to visit his son.
The petition said that the wife had promised to move to India to help with Dhawan’s career after he was unable to move to Australia. However, it reveals Aesha backtracked and refused to move back, claiming she would be forced to give up custody of her children.
“He (Dhawan) for no fault of his own had been through immense agony and anguish of living separately from his own son for years. Even though the wife denied the allegation, submitting that though she genuinely wanted to live in India with him, yet she did not choose to contest the claim. The respondent, by conducting herself in the manner, has inflicted such cruelty, agony and trauma on him, that it was impossible for the petitioner to save the marriage,” the statement from court said.
The next example given in the petition recalls how Aesha forced the cricketer to make her to owner of the three properties he bought in Australia, and had complete ownership of one home while joint custody on the other two. She did not provide her own funds to contribute in the purchase, forcing Dhawan to pay child support not only for their son, but also for two daughters from the wife’s first marriage for whom she was already receiving payments from her first husband.
“The respondent was required to prove that properties were purchased out of her fund as well or her name was included out of love and affection. Thus, Dhawan’s allegation that she compelled him to make her owner to some extent in all three properties or that she pocketed sale proceeds thereof has got to be believed as true,” it added.
The court granted mandatory visitation rights to Dhawan to meet his son in India and Australia, and demanded Aesha to bring their child back to the country.
Before the start of the ICC World Cup, a conference of the captains of all the cricket teams was held to let media interact with them.
During the session, an Indian journalist asked Rohit Sharma about England being declared successful in the final of the last World Cup, a match which first got tied, led to a super over, then got tied again. The journalist asked if both teams could have been declared joint winners.
At this question, Rohit Sharma said “What is the question, my friend, how should I answer it?”
People present at the conference includinb Pakistan team captain Babar Azam also laughed at Rohit Sharma’s reply. England captain Jos Buttler, who was sitting with Babar Azam, looked at Babar in a questioning manner and inquired about the meaning of Rohit’s words, on which Babar Azam translated what Rohit said to the Journalist.
Most of the questions were directed towards Babar Azam and Rohit Sharma.
At one point in the press conference, South African captain Temba Bavuma was seen sleeping, which he later denied and said that the camera angle was such that it looked like he was sleeping, but he was not.
The war between the top 10 teams of the world to win the Cricket World Cup 2023 trophy is starting on Thursday, October 5.
From 1975 to 2019, World Cup competitions were held 12 times, and 6 teams won the trophy, including Australia (5 times), West Indies (2 times), India (2 times), Pakistan (1) Sri Lanka (1) and England (1).
The World Cup trophy has a history as old as the event itself. This trophy has been changed many times.
The first 3 World Cups had the same trophy
From 1975 to 1983, all events were held in England. All three World Cup events were sponsored by a company called Prudential Insurance, which is why the trophy was named the Prudential Cup Trophy. It is a trophy similar to the Wimbledon trophy and is now housed at the Cricket Museum at Lord’s.
The trophy was changed for the first time in 1987
In 1987, this tournament was held in the subcontinent. Reliance Industries sponsored the World Cup and a gold-plated trophy, studded with diamonds, was made for the event and named the Reliance World Cup. The cost of this trophy was 6 lakh Indian rupees at that time which is equivalent to 80 lakh Indian rupees now.
1992 trophy
The 1992 trophy was one of the best and most unique ones. It is considered to be the most beautiful World Cup trophy ever designed. This trophy, a globe, was made of crystal, and was named after sponsor Benson & Hedges. GBP 8,000 were spent on its preparation. It is currently housed in the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.
1996 trophy
The tournament was again held in Pakistan and India but this time Sri Lanka was also playing host along while Wills Company sponsored the event. This was the reason the trophy was named Wills World Cup.
From 1999 till now
For the 1999 World Cup, the ICC decided that a single trophy should be created for all future events. The International Cricket Council (ICC) contacted the British company Jarrad & Co, which manufactured the trophy that is now in use.
The cup weighs around 11 kg and is 60 cm long, costing USD 30,000 to make. This trophy is made of silver and gold with a golden globe on top and 3 silver pillars that look like wickets. At the bottom of this World Cup trophy, the names of the teams that have won this event so far are listed, while there is also a space for writing the names of the teams that will win upcoming World Cup events in the future.
Now, the team that wins the event is awarded a replica trophy that is the same as the original but does not have the names of the previous champions at the bottom.
The actual trophy is kept at the ICC (International Cricket Council) head office in Dubai.
