  • After PCB refusal, Warwickshire County to support treatment of Hasan Ali’s elbow injury

After PCB refusal, Warwickshire County to support treatment of Hasan Ali’s elbow injury

England’s Warwickshire Cricket County has taken full responsibility for the treatment of cricketer Hasan Ali’s elbow after Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) refused to take the responsibility.

The bowler suffered an elbow injury while representing Warwickshire during county cricket this year, after which the pacer returned home without playing full matches.

According to Geo News, Hasan Ali had contacted PCB for treatment, after which the board asked Warwickshire County to treat him instead.

PCB is of the opinion that since Hasan Ali left the national team fully fit and healthy for county cricket, it is now the county’s responsibility to get him fully fit and healthy.

Warwickshire has accepted responsibility for all treatments. The fast bowler will likely go to England for treatment soon.

Neeraj Chopra, Manu Bhaker leave big names behind in brand value

India’s Olympic silver medalist javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra and bronze medalist Manu Bhaker have made a mark in their respective sports and left many big names behind in the race for net worth and brand value.

Neeraj has started to overtake Indian cricketers in contracts, while major companies are eyeing two-time Paris Olympics bronze medalist shooter Manu for contracts.

According to Indian media, the brand value of both has increased tremendously, up to 330 crore Indian rupees (More than 1,100 PKR).

Before the Olympics, Neeraj Chopra’s brand value was equal to that of Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, but now it is expected to skyrocket, potentially surpassing Pandya’s and making him the highest-valued non-cricketer athlete.

22-year-old Manu has attracted the attention of companies with extraordinary speed. She recently signed an ambassador contract with a beverage company for one and a half crore Indian rupees.

Before the Paris Olympics, her contract fee was 25 lakh per year, and her management company revealed that 40 brands wanted to sign contracts with the bronze medalist.

Despite not winning a medal, wrestler Vinesh Phogat’s brand value is increasing; his annual fee is now INR one crore, up from 25 lakh INR.

  • Jay Shah pressures Greg Barclay to step down from ICC: Reports

Jay Shah pressures Greg Barclay to step down from ICC: Reports

Australian newspaper ‘The Sydney Morning Herald’ has exposed an Indian plot to take over International Cricket Council (ICC), saying that Indian Cricket Board Secretary Jay Shah forced the current president, Greg Barclay, to resign to take over the ICC presidency.

Barclay has informed the Board of Directors that he is not interested in the position after the end of the term and will remain in office until November. Jay Shah will become the new president of the International Cricket Council.

In February 2024, the Secretary of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) entered the race to become the Chairman of the ICC.

Greg Barclay of New Zealand was elected in 2022. His term will expire in November 2024. Elections for the next Chairman will be held in November this year.

To be elected as the ICC Chairman, Jay Shah will have to resign from the responsibilities of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and BCCI because, according to the rules, the ICC Chairman cannot hold any other office.

However, this decision may also affect the scheduled Champions Trophy in Pakistan, set for February 2025. Pakistan will host the event, which will have a total of eight teams participating.

The top seven teams from the group stage of the ICC One Day Cricket World Cup 2023 have secured their positions for the tournament, while Pakistan qualified for it as the hosts.

Yesterday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) rejected media reports of the change in the dates and schedule of the ICC Champions Trophy, which will be held in Pakistan next year, as misleading.

PCB is fully committed to hosting the Champions Trophy 2025 at three iconic venues in Pakistan.

  • Mohsin Naqvi hints at possible change in Champion Trophy schedule

Mohsin Naqvi hints at possible change in Champion Trophy schedule

Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi has been clear that the Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan, however, the match schedules may be changed or tinkered with. PCB is in touch with the security agencies in this regard.

In a press conference in Lahore on Monday he said, “Four to five months will be difficult because the grounds are being built, but the work will be completed before the Champions Trophy. The initial work will be completed before the Trophy, and the remaining work will be completed after the Champions Trophy. We are in talks with the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. If they give us a stadium, we will also work on it. The stadium in New York was also completed in the last ten days.”

He pointed out that construction work is going on day and night. “Renovating the stadiums is a big challenge. Unlike the world’s stadiums, Pakistan’s stadiums are substandard and far behind the world.”

“A new stadium has been built in Islamabad. We are in touch with the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the renovation of the grounds. The renovation work was completed before the arrival of the ICC delegation for the Champions Trophy.”

The Champion Trophy is scheduled to be played in March 2025 in Pakistan, with Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi hosting the mega event.
