    Shahid Afridi appointed Ambassador for T20 World Cup

    Former national cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has been appointed as the ambassador of the International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 World Cup starting next month.

    ICC has announced the inclusion of Shahid Afridi in the list of tournament ambassadors keeping in mind that he was a member of the T20 World Cup winning team and the player of the tournament in 2009.

    Apart from Shahid Afridi, ICC has also appointed Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, West Indies’ Chris Gayle and world’s fastest athlete Usain Bolt as ambassadors.

The secretary of the Federation has stated that the reason for this extreme action against the Indian team is not giving powers to the elected body of the Kabaddi Federation.

    Secretary Asian Kabaddi Federation Sarwar Rana said in the meeting, “The Indian Kabaddi authorities were reminded several times in this regard but the elected body was not given powers.”

    According to the Asian Kabaddi Federation, the ban on the Indian team’s participation in international events will remain in place until powers are given to the selected body.

    Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has refused to coach the Indian cricket team, one of the most lucrative position in the game.

    The Indian Cricket Board, currently looking for a new coach, approached Ricky Ponting for coaching during the IPL.

    The former Australian cricketer confirmed the Indian cricket board’s contacts and said, “During the Indian Premier League (IPL), there have been small conversations about this, I would love to coach the national team but there is more to life.”

    “I want to spend time at home with my family. If you are the coach of the Indian team, then you cannot be a coach in the IPL. Being the coach of the national team means a job spanning 10 or 11 months a year.”

    “It doesn’t suit my lifestyle right now, there is still much to enjoy in life, I know the names of Justin Langer, Stephen Fleming and Gautam Gambhir have also come up to coach the Indian team” said Ponting.

    Talking about India’s culture he said, “My family likes the cricket culture in India but at the moment, full-time coaching does not fit into my lifestyle.”

    Australia won the 2003 and 2007 cricket World Cups and 2006 and 2009 Champions Trophies under his captaincy. He was also a member of the 1999 World Cup winning team.

    The dreams of a few officials who wanted to visit America under the guise of the T20 World Cup have been dashed.

    Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials have banned unnecessary visits.

    According to Express sources, PCB officials will no longer be able to make unnecessary trips for free after Chairman Mohsin Naqvi banned the practice. This will be applied both internally and abroad.

    The board used to spend a lot of money on travel and stay and also had to bear losses in terms of allowances but when the matter came to the notice of the chairman, he took action.

    On the other hand, sources further claimed that the process of changes in PCB is not over yet but will start again soon. The Chairman now has an idea of the performance of most of the top officials and wants to make appointments based on merit.

    Some officials also came into light who do not work much but apparently it was done as if the board was running on their bill. Preparations have started to send such people home. Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises have also complained to the PCB.

    The International Cricket Council (ICC) has allotted the Nassau Cricket Stadium in New York to the Indian cricket team for the warm-up match against Bangladesh.

    The high voltage match of Pakistan and India is also scheduled to be played in this stadium on June 9.

    Fans expressed their disappointment on allotting the Nassau Cricket Stadium to India saying that the Indian team has been given a warm-up match on the ground to get used to the conditions so that they can see the pitch and formulate strategies against Pakistan.

    Top officials of ICC are leaning towards the Indian board.

    Former Pakistani star bowler Wasim Akram has been appointed as multicultural ambassador of Cricket Australia.

    A total of 54 ambassadors of Cricket Australia have been selected, including India’s Ravi Shastri, former Sri Lankan player Russell Arnold and Bangladesh’s Amin ul Islam.

    Australian Test opener Usman Khawaja, Fawad Ahmed, Scott Boland, former women’s captain Lisa Sthalekar and Mel Jones are also part of the ambassador program.

    These ambassadors have been appointed by Cricket Australia for a period of 2 years.

    The Ambassador Program aims to provide a clear pathway for cricket in Australia to players, spectators and coaches from the South Asian region.
