    Nauman Chaudhry defeats Arslan Ash in big upset at Gamer Galaxy

    The Gamer Galaxy E-Sports Festival became the site of a huge upset when Nauman Chaudhry defeated the uncrowned king of Tekken, Arslan Ash, on Friday night.

    A large number of qualified youths from all over the country participated in online games in the E-Sports Festival organized at Expo Center Lahore and won their favorite games like FIFA, Free Fighters, Tekken 8 and PUBG mobile.

    Punjab Sports Minister Faisal Khokhar, well-known boxer Aamir Khan and Fakhr e Alam took special part in the e-Sports Festival.

    All the champions of the event were given prize pool money and winning trophies.

    Musician Rehan Darabuk and Karachi’s famous rap stars Young Stunners performed at the event.

    Aamir Khan leaves Pakistan following closure of $100,000 Boxing Academy

    Pakistani-born British former boxer Aamir Khan has reportedly left Pakistan after his $100,000 academy got shut down. He was also disappointed at the lack of boxing competitions in Pakistan.

    Aamir Khan said in a video message, “I keep coming to Pakistan, earlier I had an academy here. Now children are messaging me that we have to train, have a boxing fight, why is there no boxing in Pakistan?”

    He said, “I spoke to the officials and the government but still nothing happened, my gym was completely new and very clean, but it was closed.”

    “I am very disappointed with the government’s lack of attention to other sports including boxing in Pakistan. I will be flying back to England tomorrow, very upset that over a hundred thousand dollars I spent on the gym are now ruined.”

    The Pakistani Cricket Board (PCB) has set up a five-member committee to evaluate the abilities of its level one to four coaches, and also evaluate the support staff under the chairmanship of Director Domestic Cricket Abdullah Khurram Niazi, who has played a few first-class matches but is not familiar with coaching, Express has reported.

    The surprising thing is that two former captains of the Pakistan team, Misbah-ul-Haq, Azhar Ali, former Test cricketer Asad Shafiq, former international cricketer and senior general manager of domestic cricket Junaid Zia will work under him as members of the National Cricket Academy in the evaluation committee.

    Director Nadeem Khan, head coach in charge of all coaches Haji Shahid Anwar and head of coach education department Shahid Mehboob were also not included.

    Misbah-ul-Haq is the former chief selector and coach of the Pakistan team, he is level three qualified in coaching. Azhar Ali has passed the level two coaching course from England, which was not recognized by PCB until a few years ago.

    Asad Shafiq has not taken any coaching course but has extensive experience in domestic and international cricket. On the other hand, Abdullah Khurram Niazi has been appointed to PCB on deputation from the bureaucracy. Fingers are being raised on the cricket board on the formation of the committee.

    The 17-year-old off-spinner made it even more special by achieving the feat on her international debut. Mongolian cricketers could not score any runs in three overs and two balls that Rohmalia bowled.

    She surpassed the previous record held by Netherlands fast bowler Frederik Overdijk, who took seven wickets for three runs against France in the T20 World Cup Europe Region Qualifier in 2021.

    ICC T20 World Cup trophy reaches Islamabad

    The International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 World Cup 2024 trophy has reached Islamabad.

    The trophy was unveiled on a double decker bus at various locations including D Chowk, Faisal Masjid and Pakistan Monument. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and ICC officials were also present on the occasion.

    A photo shoot of the trophy was also held at the Pakistan Monument, while a large number of citizens also took photos of the trophy.

    After Islamabad, the World T20 trophy will be taken to Abbottabad and Lahore, where the trophy will be unveiled at Gaddafi Stadium on the occasion of the fifth T20 between Pakistan and New Zealand cricket team.

    The trophy will go to India after completing the tour in Pakistan.

    Irfan Mehsood, the world record holder who made a century of Guinness World Records, has returned the prize check of five lacs rupees, displaying unhappiness with the behavior of the officials of the Sports Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

    Irfan was given a prize check of PKR five lac rupees in recognition of his services but the player returned the check to the office staff of the Sports Advisor.

    Irfan Mehsood told Geo News, “The behavior of the officials of the sports department was disgraceful. If the sports authorities cannot respect the players, then do not call them to their offices for some money.”

    He said that officials of the sports department were bargaining with him that two or three lacs would be enough.

    Sports officials have said that they are not aware of the check being returned.

    In the fourth T20 match, New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 4 runs in Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.

    Pakistan skipper Babar Azam won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat first.

    New Zealand inning:

    Batting first, New Zealand scored 178 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

    New Zealand’s Tim Robinson scored 51 runs and Dan Foxcroft scored 34 runs, while Tom Blundell scored 28 runs and Michael Bracewell scored 27 runs, Josh Clarkson was dismissed for zero.

    On behalf of Pakistan, Abbas Afridi dismissed 3 players, Usama Mir and Iftikhar Ahmed also got one wicket each.

    Pakistan inning:

    The national team managed to score 174 runs for 8 wickets in pursuit of the target of 179 runs.

    Fakhar Zaman scored 61 runs on behalf of Pakistan, Iftikhar Ahmed scored 23 runs, Saeem Ayub scored 20 runs and Usman Khan scored 16 runs. Imad Wasim was not out with 22 runs.

    Last match of this series will be played on April 27 in Gaddafi cricket stadium.

    Former captain of Pakistan women’s cricket team Bisma Maroof has announced her immediate retirement from cricket on her Instagram account.

    She wrote a statement on Instagram saying, “For 17 years, cricket has been not just a sport but a passion, a dream fulfilled, and a journey of growth beyond measure. With a mixture of emotions, I bid farewell to the incredible journey of representing Pakistan on the international stage.”

    “As I reflect on the timid girl who started on this journey, I am overwhelmed by the transformation and the milestones she achieved along the way. From those early days to now retiring after playing for almost 2 decades, I collected a treasure trove of beautiful memories.”

    “To the Pakistan Cricket Board, captains, coaches, teammates, support staff, friends, family, and my dear husband, I extend my deepest gratitude. And most importantly, my wonderful Baba and Ammi: Your guidance, encouragement, and support have been the pillars of my success.”

    “To the fans, whose unwavering passion fueled our spirits, thank you for rooting for us. I am available for League Cricket assignments. Wherever I go, I will continue to make my nation proud. With heartfelt gratitude and fond memories.”

    Bisma Maroof represented Pakistan in 276 international matches which is a national record, she scored 6262 runs and took 80 wickets in international cricket.

    Chairman PCB dissolves women cricket selections committee after West Indies white wash

    Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi has dissolved women cricket team selections committee after white wash from West Indies.

    The West Indies Women’s team clean swept the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team in the ODI series at the home ground.

    A new committee comprising of seven members has been formed, ARY has reported.

    Former cricketers Abdul Razzaq, Asad Shafiq, former women cricketers Asmavia Iqbal, Marina Iqbal are included in the new selection committee, while interim head coach women cricket Mohtsham Rasheed, women cricket team captain Nida Dar and former cricketer Batul Fatima are also included in the selection committee.

    According to PCB spokesperson, orders have been issued for the immediate selection of the best coach for the women’s cricket team, while the new selection committee has been instructed to take over the responsibilities immediately.

    Sources say that Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is unhappy with the performance of the national women’s cricket team and large-scale changes are expected in women’s cricket soon.

    During the previous board management period, there was a 4-member committee whose chairman was Saleem Jaffer while the members included Asmavia Iqbal, Marina Iqbal and Mohtsham Rashid.

    Iranian goal-keeper Syed Hussain Hussaini has been banned for one match for hugging a female fan, while a fine of $4500 has also been imposed on him.

    According to foreign media, the Iranian Football Federation (IFF) has said that women should be banned from entering the stadium in the city of Tabriz, located in the northwest of the country. It is not yet clear whether the ban will be in Tabriz or across the country.
