    Shaheen should have been given a full chance as captain: Zaka Ashraf

    Former Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Zaka Ashraf has said that the decision to remove Shaheen Shah Afridi from the captaincy was taken hastily, Shaheen should have been given a full chance as captain.

    While talking to the media in Lahore, Zaka Ashraf said, “There are good wishes for the world class batsman Babar Azam. Shahid Afridi had not given me any advice to make Rizwan the captain.”

    Talking about the appointment of coaches for the team, former chairman PCB, “The coaches should be local or foreign, only for the betterment of the team.”

    On January 19, 2024 Zaka Ashraf had resigned as Chairman Management Committee and Member Board of Governors.

    India will not tour Pakistan for champions trophy: Indian sports minister Anurag Thakur

    Indian Cricket Team Sports Minister Anurag Thakur says that India will not visit Pakistan for upcoming champions trophy 2025.

    According to media reports, Indian cricket team’s Sports Minister Anurag Thakur was asked whether the Indian team will go to Pakistan for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy? To which he replied that the Indian Board (BCCI) will maintain the decision not to go to Pakistan.

    Making a political statement in the game, Indian minister Anurag Thakur said, “When I was the head of the BCCI, my position was clear that two things cannot go together. You spread terror in India, shoot, try to plant bombs and then talk about playing cricket, first stop shooting and stop terrorism then stadiums will be populated.”

    He stressed that the Indian cricket team should not go to Pakistan to play cricket.

    Last year, Pakistan jointly hosted the Asia Cup with Sri Lanka. Initially, Pakistan was supposed to host the event, but due to the refusal of the Indian team to play in Pakistan, the matches had to be held at an alternative venue.

    Now again India has started looking for excuses to not to visit Pakistan.

  • Women cricketers Bisma Maroof, Ghulam Fatima injured in car accident

    National women’s cricketers Bisma Maroof and Ghulam Fatima have been injured in a car accident on Friday night, sustaining minor injuries.

    Both are part of an ongoing camp in Karachi.

    A statement released by Pakistan Cricket Board said that both players underwent precautionary tests at a local hospital and were being looked after by the PCB’s medical panel.

    Sources say that the both players had left the hotel to drink tea with a fellow cricketer based in Karachi on Friday night when their car hit the footpath. Other players remained safe in the accident.

  • Emirates bans Usman Khan for five years

    The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) has imposed a five-year ban on top-order batsman Usman Khan for violating their contract.

    In a statement issued by the UAE Cricket Board, it was said that Usman Khan misrepresented to the ECB and took advantage of the facilities, he was bound to play for the UAE but now he is not doing so.

    ECB had also given an annual contract to Usman Khan while he played as a local player of the Emirates in the recent ILT Twenty20.

    According to the ECB, Usman Khan violated the contract with it, as a result of which he will not be able to participate in any event under the UAE Board for five years.

    Usman Khan represented Multan Sultans in the PSL as an overseas player, after which the Pakistan Cricket Board included Usman Khan in the camp of the Pakistan team.

    After coming to the Pakistan camp, Usman Khan sent a notice to the UAE to terminate the agreement.

    PCB Director Media and Communication Aliya Rashid resigns from her post

    Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Director Media and Communication Aliya Rashid has resigned from her post on Friday.

    Aliya was hired under the tenure of interim PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf in October 2023 as the director of media and communication. She had already worked with the board for a short period in 2009 under Umar Farooq Kalson.

    She was the first woman director to work as media head at PCB.

    PCB has announced the appointment of Sami ul Hasan Burney as the new Director of Media and Communication.

    Don’t test my patience, Shaheen Afridi shares Instagram story

    Pakistan cricket team’s former captain Shaheen Shah Afridi shared a story on Instagram which states “don’t test my patience”.

    Late at night, Shaheen shared a video story with the words, “Don’t ever put me in a position where I have to show how cruel and merciless I can be! Don’t test my patience because I might be the kindest and sweetest person you’ve ever met, but once I reach my limit, you’ll see me do the unthinkable.”

    The former captain’s Instagram story hinting that all is not well between the players of the national team. Shaheen was only given the captaincy in the series against New Zealand, where the green shirts lost.

    During the ongoing training camp in Kakul, he was relieved of the captaincy while Babar Azam was once again given the responsibility of leadership while PCB also issued a press release in the name of Shaheen, on which the fast bowler strongly protested.

    The return of Babar Azam has fueled the news of grouping in the team before the T20 World Cup.

    After the poor performance of the national team in the 50 overs World Cup in India last year, Babar Azam left the leadership of all three formats. Later the board assigned Test captain Shan Masood and Shaheen the responsibility of T20 format while the captain for ODIs was not announced.

    Pakistani international golfer Hamna Amjad and professional golfer Syed Raza Ali have gotten married.

    The wedding ceremony took place in Lahore yesterday, with relatives of the bride and groom attending the ceremony, while the valima will be organized after Eid-ul-Fitr.

    Hamna can be seen in a golden dress in pictures on social media, with light makeup and jewelry while the groom Raza Ali is wearing a cream colored sherwani.

  • South African footballer killed during robbery

    South African professional footballer Luke Flores has been shot dead during a car robbery incident.

    According to foreign media reports, local police officials said that a tragic incident took place at a petrol station in the suburbs of Johannesburg on Wednesday night when 24-year-old national football player Luke Flores was shot dead by suspects during a car robbery.

    Police spokesperson Lt. Col. Mawela Masondo told local media that the suspects pointed a firearm at him and pulled him out of his vehicle, later shooting him.

    The club said the police are handling the matter and more details will be communicated in due course.

    Flores joined the Kaizer Chiefs club last year and previously played for Supersport United. He also represented South Africa in Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

    Luke Flores started his career in 2013 at the Ubuntu Cape Town Academy.

  • Case filed against Delhi Capital’s Prithvi Shaw for molesting actress

    A case has been filed against Prithvi Shaw for molesting and assaulting Bhojpuri actress Sapna Gill. Shaw is currently representing Dehli Capitals in Indian Premier League.

    According to media reports, the actress has filed a complaint under sections 354, 324 and 509 against the cricketer and his friend Ashish Yadav for molestation. A local court in Mumbai has ordered Shaw to submit a report to the police by June 19, 2023.

    The incident allegedly took place last year in a pub in Mumbai’s Andheri area, where the police arrested Bhojpuri actress Sapna Gill for assaulting Shaw.

    A video of Sapna Gill and her friend Shobit Thakur also went viral on social media last year, in which they were seen attacking the cricketer’s car with a baseball bat. Prithvi Shaw was declared innocent in the initial investigation by the police.

    Now the actress has recorded a statement in court that Prithvi Shah hit her on the arm and chest on that occassion. Prithvi was reportedly with seven or eight of his friends. She said that after this incident Prithvi Shah requests her not to complain to the police and then apologized and left.

    Police has again started an investigation.

    PCB buys entire building near Gaddafi Stadium

    Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has bought a multi-storied building near Gaddafi Stadium Lahore to solve the long-standing problem of accommodation for local and international cricketers.

    According to details, a multi-storied building was constructed very close to the Gaddafi Stadium. PCB objected to its construction due to security concerns. Legal disputes led to halts in construction work.

    The builder had also taken money from people for the flats when he was stopped after which he offered to sell the building to PCB. There was progress on the project in the recent tenure of Zaka Ashraf as chairman of the board, but sources say that PCB has now officially bought the building for Rs four billion.

    The building is currently in unfinished condition as an apartment complex so they will need to renovate it to turn it into a hotel.
    The project will cost more funds but once it reaches the completion stage, it will solve a major problem of accommodation for foreign and local cricketers.

    At present, the teams stay in local five-star hotels which cost the PCB millions of rupees. However, due to security reasons, the roads leading from the hotel to the stadium are closed due to which the people are facing problems.
