    Former Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam left for Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah along with fellow Test cricketer Imam ul Haq.

    Azam left for Umrah immediately after the conclusion of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9, along with his brother, from Lahore Airport.

    In the ninth edition of PSL, Babar’s Peshawar Zalmi reached the play-off stage.

    Imad Wasim likely to take retirement back ahead of T20 World Cup

    Pakistan’s former all-rounder and PSL star performer Imad Wasim is likely to take retirement back for the T20 World Cup 2024, media reports have said.

    In a recent interview, he said ,”I am ready to return to the national team if called by the selectors. I made a name for myself playing for Pakistan and if my country needs me, I will be available, I don’t have a problem with it.”

    He said, “Shaheen called me after retiring but I told him that we will talk after PSL.”

    Former Australian captain Michael Clarke has commented on the absence of all-rounder Imad Wasim from the Pakistan team.

    Michael Clarke, who was part of the PSL commentary panel, said, “I don’t know who is winning. Imad is my most valuable player for the final, if he is not playing for Pakistan in the T20 World Cup, it is very wrong.”

    Imad quit his international career in November last year.

    Virat Kohli finds it ’embarrassing’ to be called King

    Indian batting great Virat Kohli has asked fans to stop calling him king, saying it embarrasses him.

    He participated in the Royal Challengers Bangalore event at the Chinnaswamy Stadium Bengaluru on 19 March.

    “Guys, we have to reach Chennai very soon and a chartered flight is also booked for that, but first you stop calling me this word (King).”

    He stressed, “I was telling Faf (Faf du Plessis) that when I am called King and react like that, I feel embarrassed everywhere. Please call me only Virat Kohli from now on. Don’t use that word, it causes me so much embarrassment.”

    Kohli appeared in front of fans and media after two months, after taking a break from cricket before the five-match Test series against England in January to be with his wife Anushka Sharma. During this time, a second child was born to the couple.

    Pakistani boxer Nisar Ahmad Achakzai from Qila Abdullah district of Balochistan won the ongoing World Muay Thai Championship 2024 International Boxing Tournament in Bangkok, Thailand.

    Nisar defeated the Indian player Bajar Singh in the final and knocked him out in the first round.

    Nisar Ahmad said, “There is an effort to keep the green crescent flag high in every field of the world, but less resources and motivation come in the way.”

    Famous Norwegian DJ and musician Alan Walker has teamed up with Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to create a special anthem ahead of the highly anticipated IPL season of 2024.

    The track titled ‘Team Side ft RCB’ was unveiled at their ‘Unbox’ event on Tuesday, March 19. Norwegian pop artist Sofiloud promises to deliver an electrifying experience for fans. The song tries to reflect the spirit of unity and celebration that cricket provides to millions of fans across India with a blend of electro-house beats and multilingual lyrics in Hindi, Kannada, and English.

    Expressing his enthusiasm, Alan Walker remarked, “I am thrilled to be working with RCB on this team track.     ICC launches T20 World Cup 2024 trophy tour

    The International Cricket Council (ICC) has launched the T20 World Cup Trophy Tour.

    The trophy tour has been launched at the Empire State Building in Manhattan, New York, with former West Indies captain Chris Gayle and American player Ali Khan launching the tour.

    The ICC trophy will visit 15 countries. During the first month, the trophy will also be taken to Argentina, Brazil and Canada.

    The trophy will tour New York, Dallas and Houston from March 18 to 23. After America, the World Cup trophy will tour the West Indies.

    Shehla Raza elected first woman president of Pakistan Hockey Federation

    Senior leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Member National Assembly (MNA) Syeda Shehla Raza has been elected President of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).

    Secretary PHF Haider Hussain called a meeting of the PHF Congress in Karachi today.

    Representatives of National Bank and Pakistan Customs also participated in the PHF Congress meeting. 54 out of 64 members participated in the Congress meeting.

    Shehla Raza has been unanimously elected as the president in the PHF Congress meeting. Shehla Raza was earlier serving as the Vice President of PHF. Apart from them, Shuja Iqbal Pasha was elected as Finance Secretary.

    The meeting of the second group of Hockey Federation will be held in Islamabad on Thursday under the chairmanship of Rana Mujahid.

    Australia once again postpones Afghanistan series

    Cricket Australia has once again postponed a series against Afghanistan. The T20I series between the two teams was scheduled for August this year.

    Cricket Australia has said in a statement on their official webstie, “We are postponing the bilateral series against Afghanistan. We have been in contact with their government over the past 12 months regarding the situation in Afghanistan.”

    Cricket Australia said, “We will continue to support the participation of women and girls, will be in touch with the ICC and the Afghanistan Board, and will continue to work for the restoration of the series in the future.”

    The ODI series has been postponed due to the situation in Afghanistan related to the rights of women and girls.

    They had also postponed the previous ODI series which was to be held in 2023.

    A picture of Islamabad United all rounder Imad Wasim went viral in which he can be seen smoking in the dressing room during the final match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) against Multan Sultans on Monday.

    The incident happened when Wasim ended a brilliant spell of bowling by claiming five wickets. Wasim then left the field after completing his bowling spell in the 17th over. Initially thought to be taking a break, he was seen smoking on camera.

    Imad took five wicket to become the first bowler to take a five wickets haul in a PSL final. He was also player of the match in three consecutive knockout matches including the final.

    We will conduct 9000 matches in four months, says Mohsin Naqvi

    The chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi has said that we will conduct nine thousand matches in next four months.

    Talking to a press conference at National Stadium Karachi, the Chairman of PCB said, “Last year we conducted 2700 domestic matches, our target is to conduct 9000 matches in next four months. Promotion of school cricket is among our priorities.”

    Talking about Champion Trophy 2025 he said, “The Champions Trophy 2025 will be held in Pakistan, we are fully prepared, we hope to Allah that this event will be held in Pakistan. We are not thinking that the Trophy will be held in any other country instead of Pakistan or under a hybrid model.”

    “We are preparing pitches by ordering soil from England and Australia.”

    In responce to a question about captaincy of the national cricket team, Mohsin said, “Team captaincy will be decided by the selection committee. I want to make the selection committee powerful so that they are accountable and will not interfere in their work.”

    He said that he had a meeting with the secretary of the Indian board Jay Shah at ICC. “The talks were held in a pleasant atmosphere, but at present I do not want to bring these things forward.”

    Talking about Haris Rauf he said, “Losing and winning are part of the game but the team should be seen fighting on the field, Haris Rauf is a good player but there will be no compromise on the priority of the team. This is the policy for those who will not play for the country. Haris’s case is with the appeal committee to decide.”

    The ninth edition of ICC Champion Trophy will be held in Pakistan in February and March next year.
