    Marathon world record holder Kelvin Kiptum dies in accident

    Marathon’s world record holder athlete Kelvin Kiptum has died in a car accident.

    According to foreign media, 24-year-old Kelvin Kiptum, Kenya’s marathon world record holder, was travelling in a car that met an accident in western Kenya, killing him on the spot.

    According to Geo, Kelvin Kiptum’s coach, Rwanda’s Gervais Hakizimana, was also killed in the accident, while a woman in the car was injured and shifted to the hospital.

    It is being reported that Kelvin Kiptum was driving the car which overturned after he lost control.

    It should be noted that Kelvin Kiptum set the marathon world record with 2 hours 35 seconds.

    Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab Mohsin Naqvi has been elected unopposed chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the next three years.

    On January 19, Zaka Ashraf resigned from the post of PCB chairman, after serving as chairman since July last year. He was initially appointed for four months and later, his tenure was extended by caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar till the ODI World Cup 2023.

    After accepting the resignation of former PCB Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf, Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar nominated Mohsin Naqvi as his candidate in the PCB Governing Body.

    Pakistan team returned to the pavilion by scoring only 155 runs in 40.4 overs. Shahzaib Khan scored 26 runs, Arfat Minhas 34 while Shamyl Husain and Ali Asfand scored 19 runs each.

    Chasing the target of 155 runs, the Bangladesh team bowled out for 150 runs in 35.5 overs. From Pakistan’s side, Ubiad Shah dismissed 5 players, Ali Raza took three wickets while Muhammad Zeshan took one but final wicket.

    ‘Hired a harasser’ PCB slammed for choosing Ali Zafar for PSL 9 anthem, calls for boycott

    Social media users are slamming the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for hiring Ali Zafar for the anthem of the ninth edition of Pakistan Super League.

    PSL released a video on social media with the caption “Ali Zafar is set to immerse his magic to the official HBL PSL anthem 2024”, making it clear that Ali Zafar will sing the anthem for PSL season 9. The last time he sang the anthem for PSL was in 2018.

    Just a few weeks ago, Ali revealed that he would not be performing the anthem for reasons he didn’t want to disclose.

    Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans is in the game with massive collaborations for PSL season 9. Multan has partnered with KTrade as an investment partner and Raiment 61 as official partner (Clothing Brand) for the ninth edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League.

    On Wednesday, KTrade, a leading stock trading platform, formerly known as KASB, joined Multan Sultans as the official investment partner for the HBL Pakistan Super League season 9.

    When asked, ‘tootay huay dil jaein kahan’, Babar responded, “Doctor kay pas”.

    Cricketer Muhammad Rizwan came to the space and asked him, “Shadi kab ho rahi hai” to which Babar said, “Murshid main aapko akelay mein bataun ga”. Rizwan and Babar started laughing and then Rizwan mentioned how his wife kept asking him daily when Babar would get married.

    Owner of Quetta Gladiators Nadeem Umar demands separate board for PSL

    Nadeem Umar, owner of PSL franchise Quetta Gladiators, has demanded that a separate board be formed for the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

    Regional Cricket Association President Nadeem Umar came to watch the final of the Inter-Department Cricket League, during which he awarded the captain of the winning team, Umar Associate, with a trophy and cash prize of Rs 200,000.

    Talking about PSL, Nadeem Umar said, “The chairman and setup of the Pakistan Super League should be completely different, their working method should also be different, and how the rights of the matches work and sell. It must be different”.

    He continued: “We sleep for 11 months of the year, there is no activity plan, and the setup of the exercise of the separate boards of other leagues like the Indian Premier League (IPL) and many other leagues has been going on for a long time.”

    Nadeem Umar emphasized that PSL is the most powerful brand in the country. “But we have to fight with the board for some improvement. Not representing Karachi and Lahore in the PCB Governing Board is unfair, who will be the chairman, and what will be the role of the game, the input of big cities is necessary for these challenges”.

    National cricket team’s leg-spinner Usama Mir has revealed that trolls verbally abused him through private messages for dropping David Warner’s catch in the ODI World Cup played in India in September last year.

    While talking to Geo Super, Usama Mir said “We could not give a good performance during the matches in India, which is a pity”.

    He continued: “I dropped David Warner’s catch, but it was one that anyone could catch. Later, people’s reaction was extremely bad. Some people used bad words for me on social media, and some used private messages and verbally abused me”.

    Usama said, “People make you Don Bradman with one performance but with a bad performance these same people make you fall. Pakistanis should support us because we are playing for our country, not for any other country.”

    During the 18th match of the World Cup, first Usama Mir and then Abdullah Shafiq dropped David Warner’s catch when the batsman was on 10 runs. Usama Mir caught Warner on Shaheen Afridi’s ball. Warner scored 163 runs off 124 balls with the help of 9 sixes and 14 fours and won the Player of the Match award.
