Khan denies contacting Malik Riaz to patch up with Asif Zardari

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan denied contacting property tycoon Malik Riaz for reconciliation with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

Khan’s comments come in relevance to an alleged telephonic conversation that was leaked on social media. In the audio conversation, Malik Riaz can be heard saying that Khan wants a patch up with Zardari. Riaz said, “Aaj usnay bohot hee message kiye hain mujhe. [He sent many texts to me today.]” Zardari responds that it is “impossible” now.

Khan’s denial came while speaking to digital journalists in Peshawar.

    Pressure to recognise Israel

Khan revealed that when he was in power, there was “a lot of pressure” on his government to accept Isreal as a sovereign state.

“We were sent a message that you should think about your country but at this time, I cannot reveal who had sent the message to us,” said Khan.

Khan criticised the government and alleged that it was going to recognise Israel after a Pakistani expatriate delegation living in the United States (US) visited Israel.

No need for PTI MNAs to verify their resignations

On the matter of PTI members of the National Assembly’s (MNAs) resignations, Khan said they have resigned from their posts, and there was no need for them to verify their resignations.

“We had announced in front of the National Assembly’s speaker that we have resigned. There is no need for a member to verify their resignation individually […] the day we come back to the assembly, it will mean that we have accepted this imported government,” said Khan.

Only the army and the PTI can keep Pakistan intact

Speaking about the appointment of the army chief, Khan said he did not know about the candidates nor did he think about the procedure. He claimed there were “individuals within institutions” who had “opinions on certain issues”. However, he did not name the individuals.

“Only the army and the PTI can keep Pakistan intact,” he said.

‘Never offered him drugs, he lied’: Ananya Pandey slams Aryan Khan at Narcotics Bureau

Bollywood star Ananya Pandey, in a detailed reply to the Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB), said that Aryan Khan has lied about her giving him weed. In her statement, she spoke at length about her friendship with actor Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan and the WhatsApp chats between them in 2019.

Aryan, in his statement to the NCB, had alleged that Ananya gave him weed after taking it from her younger sister. However, the Gehraiyaan diva called Aryan’s statement false and said, “I am unaware as to why he is lying about this.”

Whatsapp Chats Reveal That Ananya Pandey Agrees To Buy Drugs For Aryan And Much More!

Aryan had said in his statement to NCB last year, “Ananya has a younger sister who was caught by Ananya with weed. She was about 15-16 years old at the time. She was not a regular smoker and was misled. When Ananya found out, she did not want their parents to know, so she gave me the weed to dispose of, and I did.”

Pandey said that she and Aryan had been friends since childhood as their parents had been friends too. She said, “We were close friends until 2019, but after that, we both got involved in our work and drifted apart. However, we are still in touch and talk occasionally.”

“I want to state that I have never given any drug/contraband to anyone. I have never offered to give drugs/contraband to anyone. I have never even offered to pay anyone for drugs or contraband. I am not in the business of drug delivery or peddling. I do not know any drug dealer,” she said in her statement.

She added that her sister was into smoking loose tobacco until 2020. However, she is not into drugs. Ananya added that her sister does visit a psychologist for her eating disorder and such issues.

Aryan was taken to the NCB office after a cruise party was raided. On Sunday, the star kid was sent into custody in October 2021.

Energy crisis worsens, electricity gap surpasses 7,000 megawatts

The demand for electricity in Pakistan has risen to 28,200 megawatts due to the hot weather, while the supply is only 21,200 megawatts, resulting in a power shortfall of nearly 7,000 megawatts.

According to well-placed sources, the country currently gets 4,635 megawatts of energy from hydropower, 1,060 megawatts from government thermal power plants, and 9,677 megawatts from IPPs. Additionally, due to a lack of oil, gas, and coal, numerous factories have been shut down.

Several areas of the country are experiencing daily loadshedding of 10 to 12 hours due to the expanding shortfall, which is exacerbated by the hot heat.

However, in locations with significant line losses, loadshedding lasts longer than 12 hours.

The scheduled loadshedding technique is not being used due to the lack of data, according to the sources. In Karachi, K-Electric, the city’s sole electricity distribution provider, is imposing daily loadshedding of 9 to 10 hours.

As per reports, the loadshedding will be resolved within the next several months.

  • 40-50 per cent hike expected in gas tariff

40-50 per cent hike expected in gas tariff

The government plans to hike the system gas tariff by up to 50 per cent as part of its efforts to gain access to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout.

The Ministry of Energy anticipates the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) determining the revenue requirement for the coming fiscal year in June. As per The News, which cited sources, the tariff increase will take effect on July 1, 2022.

Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), according to an Energy Ministry official, have suffered massive combined losses of Rs550 billion in recent years.

Both are losing money since the system gas rate has not been raised in a long time. SNGPL is expected to lose Rs350 billion, while SSGC is expected to lose roughly Rs200 billion.

OGRA will now calculate the system gas tariff under the modified OGRA statute. The IMF has encouraged the government to ensure that gas firms do not lose money as a result of the gas tariff’s stagnation, as well as to follow the modified OGRA law in its entirety.

It’s worth noting that the government raised the price of petroleum goods by Rs30 per liter last week after the IMF stated that the bailout package would not be resumed unless the country ended petroleum product subsidies.

    May 28 2022 – Saturday

    Good morning,*|MERGE1|*

Fuel prices increased last week, and all I can think about these days are the ways to control my fuel consumption. By getting on a bicycle, you will not only save your money but help the planet too. However, if you are a woman then good luck with all the cat calling you will have to face, unless you are a foreigner visiting Pakistan. Sadly, Pakistan’s public transportation system is not up tp the mark but if you have the option of using it, do it. Car parking kay malse se bhi jaan chot jae gi. The idea which I like the most is car polling. Recruit some coworkers and try car pooling. Paise bhi bachein ge aur workplace gossip kay lie baar baar cigarette break bhi nahi leni pare ga. Otherwise, lock yourself up in your room and only watch Pakistani content..aahh the Pakistani content Actor Adnan Siddiqui wants all of us to watch. Talking about Pakistani content, have you seen the clip from Pakistani drama Kaise teri Khud Garzi? That went viral on social media? What is the story line? Why are they romanticizing a man abusing a woman? What’s so romantic about non-consensual intimacy? I hope we learn to show romance in a non-problematic way. These kind of dramas are big No for me but I’m  eagerly waiting for one Pakistani drama: season two of Midsummer Chaos. The writer shared the news of the upcoming second season in a tweet. The drama serial got a lot of attention last year, with most people making fun of the the actors. But I think it was a great attempt by a young filmmaker. At least, they tried to portray sensitive issues in a sensible manner, which is far better than showing abusive men getting turned on by listening to their name. How can I forgot to mention Joyland? The movie  won the Jury Prize in the “Un Certain Regard” at Cannes, which is a first for not only Pakistan but for the sub-continent also. It has made us all proud. Noor had a conversation with the team of Joyland, and Uzair and I discussed the best look at Cannes.  And last week, Ashar went to try food from ‘De Meal,’ and he loved the food.

Have a good day! In the meantime, I hope the government announces a four day work week.

This week our former PM, Imran Khan wants elections in six days or he will come back to do a dharna in Islamabad. Our Prime Minister made his first address to the nation and announced a relief package. Anchor Shahzeb Khanzada said that Khan’s march to Islamabad, which happened earlier last week and was bombarded with tear gas and shelling, wasn’t successful because people just didn’t show up. And according to the anchor, some PTI leaders are saying it’s because Khan didn’t give them enough time to prepare for the dharna. Also, a leaked Malik Riaz audio, speaking with PPP’s Zardari made it to TV screens. Riaz is telling Zardari that Khan wants to make up with Zardari. Zardari says no chance bro. So, the game is definitely on. The coming week, Khan’s six day deadline will expire on Wednesday. Let’s see what Khan will do next.

What inflation? I find it amusing how Pakistani consumers grumble about skyrocketing vehicle prices while continuing to purchase top-end vehicles they fancy.

In case you missed it, Honda Atlas Cars Limited made a profit after tax of Rs2.50 billion in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2022 (FY2022), compared to a profit of Rs1.79 billion in the same period last year. This represents a 40 per cent increase over the previous year.
Let’s talk Apple! iPhones have once again become the best-selling smartphones globally in the first quarter of 2022. The iPhone 13 was the most popular smartphone in Q1 2022, followed by the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max listed in the top five.

This comes as a surprise since I wasn’t expecting Apple to report such impressive sales figures considering their hefty prices.

There are no Samsung flagships among the top five, but the company’s budget phones have risen to the top. The Samsung Galaxy A32 was ranked fifth, while the Galaxy A12 was ranked third in the world.
