    ‘Should be proud of such shows’: Ahmad Butt blasts ‘Ministry of Religious Affairs’ for suggesting ban on game shows

    Actor Ahmed Ali Butt shared his stance against the The Ministry of Religious Affairs for their appeal of a ban on game shows and their time slots during the month of Ramadan.

    The Jawani Phir Nahi Aani star said that the Ministry should focus on real problems instead of putting a ban on game shows. He also suggested a ban on fake news and propaganda.

    Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony Noor-ul-Haq Qadri on Sunday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan, requesting to put a ban on game shows during the month of Ramadan.

    In a letter shared by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony on Twitter, Noor-ul-Haq mentioned six guiding principles of Ramadan broadcasting on the complaints issued by the public.

    The letter said that the promotion of religious and professional harmony during the holy month should be the top priority of the Ramadan broadcast. It further said that “controversial issues and professional topics should be avoided.”

    The letter also stated that the show hosts should be equipped with the necessary knowledge, adding that the dress code of the hosts and guests should be in accordance with the holy month.

    It further said that “respect for holy figures and adherents of different sects should be kept in mind.” Moreover, broadcasting game shows and frivolous programmes during Sehr and Iftar should be avoided. 

    It added that immoral and inappropriate advertisements should be banned during the month.

    The letter also stated that the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) should issue appropriate instructions to TV channels in this regard.

    Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan took a jibe at dissident party MNAs who had “sought refuge” at the Sindh House and said, “You will not be able to attend public gatherings and no one will marry your children when they grow up.”

    “Your children will be made fun of at their school,” added PM Khan.

     “We all make mistakes. Allah also forgives his slaves. I am just like a father figure to you all.”

    “But for God’s sake, don’t make such a big mistake by joining hands with the corrupt Opposition. Think about your children’s future,” said PM Khan.

    Twitterati reacted to PM Khan’s words. Some Twitter users called PM Khan a “bully”, while many had hilarious replies to his speech.

    For the unversed, the Bangtan Boys have lately been in the news for their recent three-day concert which kicked off on March 10 and ended on the 13th. The show was a massive hit even though there were strict guidelines issued by the government in the wake of COVID 19. In the most recent turn of events, their managing company, Big Hit recently announced a fresh live show schedule which is expected to happen in Los Angeles right after their Grammys performance.

    In a recent short clip doing the rounds on Instagram, BTS’ J-Hope and V can be seen playing Holi on a green field. The original clip was taken from an episode of Bon Voyage where the two members randomly started playing with water guns and balloons while the rest of the group was chilling indoors.

    In this Holi clip of BTS, an Indian ARMY has added the popular song Balam Pichkari from the Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. In the first frame, Taehyung aka V can be seen running around behind J Hope to get him drenched in water. Hobi’s revenge is also clearly sweet as he smashes the opponent with a bunch of water balloons.

    Former Cricketer and coach, Javed Miandad have officially inducted into the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Hall of Fame on Saturday. The Chief Executive of PCB, Faisal Hasnain presented a commemorative cap and plaque to him at his residence.

    Miandad thanked the board for appreciation and said, “I feel humbled and honoured to have been inducted into the PCB Hall of Fame.”

    He continued, “It is appropriate that these inductions are taking place when an international cricketer is at the helm of Pakistan cricket affairs as he understands better than anyone else the hard work and sacrifices a cricketer makes to reach the top pedestal. Every time I stepped onto the field of play, I wanted to contribute to my team and country through my performance.”

    While congratulating Miandad on his contribution to cricket, Faisal Hasnain said, “On behalf of the Pakistan Cricket Board, I want to congratulate Javed Miandad on his induction into the PCB Hall of Fame. This small gesture is a reward and recognition of his immense services towards Pakistan cricket and for providing unprecedented happiness to cricket fans all over the world.”

    Javed Miandad,67, has played cricket for Pakistan from 1975 to1996. He has scored 16,213 international runs with 31 centuries in 357 matches.

    He has played the first cricket world cup in 1975 when he was only 18 years old. He has played in six world cups in total. He was also a part of the team in the 1992 World cup which Pakistan unexpectedly win under Imran Khan’s captaincy. He has scored 1,083 runs at an average of 43 overs in 33 world cup matches.

    Javed Miandad has made his test debut in 1976 in Lahore against New Zealand in which he scored a century (163). He has scored 8,832 runs in his Test career.

    Miandad hit a memorable six on the last ball bowled by Indian player Chetan Sharma and contributed to a historic win against India in the finals of the Austral-Asia Cup in Sharjah. In this match, he played a match-winning innings by scoring 116 runs.

    Asia Cup to be held in Sri Lanka in August-September

    The 2022 edition of the Asia Cup, is set to be held in Sri Lanka between August 27 and September 11, the Asian Cricket Council announced on Saturday.

    The tournament will be played in T20 format this year. Asia Cup 2022 will have six teams – India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and a Qualifier. The sixth team to join the tournament will be one of UAE, Kuwait, Singapore and Hong Kong.

    The Asia Cup tournament is held every two years, but the tournament’s governing body, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), cancelled the 2020 edition due to Covid-19 and its restrictions. The Council then considered the June 2021 window for the tournament, which was scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka, but the pandemic once again denied the organisers.

    The tournament was last played in 2018 and won by India. The upcoming Asia Cup will be the 15th edition of the competition, which began in Sharjah in 1984

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) disgruntled Jahangir Khan Tareen (JKT) group leader Aun Chaudhry claimed that Defense Minister Pervez Khattak contacted him last night (Friday) and urged Chaudhry not to take decisions immediately as the government will soon update them regarding the latest developments.

    According to Geo News, Tareen group leaders announced that they wouldn’t meet the ruling party’s members after which Governor Sindh Imran Ismail tried to contact Jahangir Tareen but he was unable to get in touch with him.

    However, the disgruntled group is holding meetings with the Opposition.

    Recently, Minister for Water Resources and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q)’s leader Moonis Elahi went to London, where both Tareen and Nawaz Sharif are currently residing.

    Earlier this month, Tareen was discharged from a private clinic. To convey his best wishes, Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif sent him a bouquet.

    Previously, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s old friend Aleem Khan joined the JKT group. Later, he visited Tareen and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif.

    CJP Bandial to hear petition seeking SC’s involvement to prevent ‘anarchic situation’ ahead of no-trust vote

    The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) will shortly begin hearing a petition filed by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), urging the court to direct a peaceful execution of proceedings for the no-confidence vote in the National Assembly against Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan.

    A two-judge bench comprising Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Munib Akhtar are scheduled to start hearing the petition at 1pm on Saturday.

    The plea filed by SCBA with the Supreme Court on Thursday said that circumstances involving a confrontation between the government and the opposition could trigger an “anarchic situation” in the country.

    “It is evident from the political history of our country that preventing the constitutional process from taking its course has produced dire consequence for democracy and rule of law,”said the petition.

    The SCBA sought the court’s directions for all state functionaries “to act strictly in accordance with the Constitution and the law and they be restrained from acting in any manner detrimental to and unwarranted by the Constitution and the law”.

    Pakistan has ranked 121 out of 146 countries on the list of World Happiness Report published by United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network. released on Friday. India stands on 136, which makes Pakistan a happier country than India.

    The list is topped by Finland as the happiest country in the world and Afghanistan is the least happiest country and stands on 146.

    The report stated that, “The World Happiness Report 2022 reveals a bright light in dark times. As we battle the ills of disease and war, it is essential to remember the universal desire for happiness and the capacity of individuals to rally to each other’s support in times of great need.”

    The World Happiness Report ranks countries based on several factors such as real GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity and perceptions of corruption.

    44% say Khan should resign before no-confidence motion: survey

    According to a survey conducted by Ipsos, 44 per cent of respondents are of the view that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan should resign ahead of the no-confidence motion while 33 per cent think he should fight it, reports Geo News.

    42 per cent of respondents are of the opinion that the no-trust motion would succeed against PM Khan while 26 per cent say the government would successfully defeat the motion and 31 per cent say that they are unsure about the outcome.

    To a question that if the no-confidence motion becomes successful, 27 per cent think Leader of the Opposition and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif should be the PM until new elections, 17 per cent say PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto and 6 per cent prefer PML-N’s Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as the new premier.

    However, after the general elections, 18 per cent want PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif to become PM, 16 per cent voted for Imran Khan, and 14 per cent for Shehbaz Sharif.

    According to the survey, a significant number of 48 per cent think that PTI’s allies should support the party’s rival, while only 27 per cent of the respondents said that the PTI coalition partners should come back to Khan.
