    Additional Deputy Commissioner Lahore, Dr Atiya Sultan has assured full security to the Aurat March Lahore. “After the disposal of our petition, we had an excellent meeting with ADC Dr Atiya Sultan who assured us of full security for the March in Lahore. We are grateful for women in public office who pave the way and understand our movement and its importance,” a tweet from the official Twitter account of Aurat March Lahore, read.

    It is pertinent to mention here that, Aurat March Lahore filed a writ petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) asking the court to protect its right to hold a women’s march petition in Lahore High Court (LHC). Earlier today, LHC observed that the administration has not stopped the Aurat march.

    Aurat March Lahore, in a statement on Sunday, said that on March 4, Lahore’s additional deputy commissioner issued directions to Civil Lines SSP to hold a meeting with the organizers and ask them not to take out the march.

    Russia blocks Facebook, restricts Twitter access

    The Russian government has officially blocked Facebook and has restricted Twitter in the country.

    The regulator, Roskomnadzor, said there had been 26 cases of discrimination against Russian media by Facebook since October 2020, including restrictions in recent days on state-backed channels like RT and the RIA news agency, Reuters has reported.

    Meta’s head of global affairs Nick Clegg said the company would continue to do everything it could to restore its services.

    “Soon millions of ordinary Russian will find themselves cut off from reliable information, deprived of their everyday ways of connecting with family and friends and silenced from speaking out,” he said, in a statement posted on Twitter.

    Meta in a blog said it was working to keep its services available “to the greatest extent possible” but it had stopped showing ads to users in Russia and barred Russian advertisers from running ads anywhere in the world “due to the difficulties of operating in Russia at this time.”

    Suspects involved in Peshawar blast identified: Sheikh Rasheed

    Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed, in a video message, has revealed that all three suspects involved in the suicide blast inside an Imam Bargah in Peshawar have been identified by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police and investigation agencies.

    He said the police and agencies are closing in on the suspects and they would be arrested in the next two to three days.

    Earlier, the minister hinted at the involvement of foreign forces in the attack.

    A suicide bomb attack hit Peshawar resulting in 63 deaths on Friday.

    According to CCTV footage of the attack, a man dressed in a traditional shalwar kameez shot two policemen as he entered the mosque.

    AFP reported that the militant Islamic State group had claimed the suicide bombing. According to reports, the investigators are checking the biometric data of people who had recently entered Pakistan from Afghanistan.

    Pakistani A-listers Saba Qamar and Naumaan Ijaz are set to feature in the latest Zindagi original series “Mrs & Mr Shameem”. Touted to be an “unconventional love story”, the show will premiere globally on ZEE5 on March 11.

    The series is directed by filmmaker Kashif Nisar, who has helmed dramas like Raqeeb Se and O Rangreza.

    Stellar performances

    Both Saba and Naumaan have gotten into the skin of their characters, essaying their roles to perfection. A special mention to Naumaan for not making his character a caricature with over the top nuances or dramatic body language. Even supporting cast members are impactful and promising going by the trailer.

    Theme

    The theme of the series is a trailblazer for Pakistan, the male protagonist is an effeminate man, supposedly from the Queer community who has been presented as colourful and brave rather than a victim. Also their is an angle of an illegitimate child which has been dealt with maturity.

    Shailja Kejriwal, Chief Creative Officer, Special Projects, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. said “Mrs & Mr Shameem” aims at “redefining the meaning of true love” and challenges society’s preconceived gender biases.

    “It is an uncommon bond of two people based on nothing superficial,” she added.

    According to director Kashif, the show follows the story of Shameem, who “embodies effeminate traits” while Umaina, played by Qamar, is “outspoken and bold in her ways”.

    “Despite their significant personality differences, there develops a beautiful bond between them of love, respect and companionship”.

    It is written by Sajjad Gul (Saji), who said the series is a “contemporary story” which traces the journey of Umaina and Shameem discovering love in its “unusual ways”.

    “The show challenges the gender barriers that exist in society. We hope that the audience connects with the story as it presents a fresh perspective on love,” the writer added.

    Punjab PPP General Secretary Syed Hassan Murtaza said, “Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s sherwani (the dress traditionally worn by politicians on formal occasions) is ready. He will soon take oath as the Punjab chief minister. Just wait for the final announcement.”

    “The government’s allies are in contact with the PPP. The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will soon be dented, like those claiming the government as theirs will not be with it,” said Murtaza.

    Murtaza also dared PM Khan to come into public space without protocol to know his ‘real popularity’ among the people of Punjab.

    The PPP general secretary further added that the future of Imran Khan was bleak, with his allies ready to give him ‘a big surprise’. The PTI was not a party, but a group of people who had gathered for their personal interests, he claimed.

    A video of an Indian TV debate on Ukraine went viral after the host berated a guest live on air for more than a minute before realising he was shouting at the wrong person.

    The clip shows Rahul Shivshankar, Indian television anchor for the Indian news channel Times Now, scolding Bohdan Nahaylo, the chief editor of Ukraine’s English-language newspaper Kyiv Post.

    In the video, Shivshankar confuses Nahaylo with Daniel McAdams, the executive director of the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity, who was the other panellist on his show.

    The viral clip shows Shivshankar telling “Daniel McAdams” to “just take a bit of a chill pill”, before launching into his rebuke and telling him to “relax”. Nahaylo hits back by saying he doesn’t want to because “my country is at war”. The Indian anchor goes on a tirade for a few minutes and is finally told loud and clear by the guest Daniel McAdams that the anchor is yelling at the wrong person

    Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called Israel a “potential ally” of Riyadh, in an interview with a United States (US) monthly magazine, The Atlantic.

    “But we have to solve some issues before we get to that,” he added.

    “We don’t look at Israel as an enemy, we look to them as a potential ally, with many interests that we can pursue together,” the prince said. Talking about the Palestine-Israel issue, he said that Riyadh hopes that the conflict between them is solved.

    Interestingly, the prince also opened up about Iran, he said, “They are neighbours. Neighbours forever. We cannot get rid of them, and they can’t get rid of us.”

    “Hopefully, we can reach a position that’s good for both countries and is going to create a brighter future for them and Iran,” he added.

    About the assassination of Saudi journalist, Jamal Khashoggi, the prince said that he was unfairly blamed for it.

    “Why would I do it?” he asked, saying that accusations that he ordered the killing “hurt me a lot”. He claimed that he never read a Khashoggi article in his life.

    “In any case, if that’s the way we did things, Khashoggi would not even be among the top 1,000 people on the list,” added the prince.

    A first information report (FIR ) has been registered against Imaan Zainab Mazari-Hazir, daughter of Federal Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari. Imaan, who is a lawyer and a human rights activist, participated in Baloch students’ protest in Islamabad. In addition, Member of National Assembly (MNA) Mohsin Dawar and Baloch students have also been booked for “rebellion, rioting, and raising of anti-state slogans”, sources revealed to Geo News.

    A case has been registered at Kohsar police station.

    Imaan Hazir-Mazari tweeted: “In response to the FIR that has been registered against me: #ReleaseHafeezBaloch #EndEnforcedDisappearancesNOW #StopHarassingBalochStudents

    Mohsin Dawar, while reacting to the FIR against him, said: “Instead of filing cases against the rouge elements involved in enforced disappearances, the state chooses to file fake cases against those who protest against enforced disappearances. Such as is the way of the martial law regime in Pakistan. We stand with the Baloch students.”

    Why are Baloch students protesting?

    The students are protesting over the mysterious disappearance of one of their colleagues, Hafeez Baloch, three weeks ago from Khuzdar.

    Senator Sherry Rehman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has also extended her support for protesting students. “Our young people need political solutions to their problems, not repression,” Rehman wrote in a tweet,.
