  • Former diplomat’s daughter killed and then beheaded in Islamabad

    The daughter of a former diplomat was killed yesterday in the capital. According to details, the police said the victim was slaughtered after being shot. Another person was also injured in the incident, Dawn News has reported.

    “A friend of the girl had been arrested over his alleged involvement in the murder,” police said, “the alleged killer is a son of leading businessman.”

    “A man named Zahir Jaffer, who was allegedly involved in the murder, was arrested on the spot and taken to the police station,” the Islamabad police tweeted.

    According to The Current’s sources, the alleged murderer, Zahir Jaffer was working in his family business and had been left alone in the city during the Eid holidays. A college dropout, Zahir’s friends have suggested that he was an active drug user.

    People on social media are demanding justice by using the hashtag #JusticeForNoor, with her friends lamenting the death of a person who seems to be “one of kindest humans….compassionate, smiling, offering her little unique gestures of kindness”.

  • Exciting shows to watch during the Eid holidays on Geo Entertainment

    The occasion of Eid ul Azha is finally here and the leading entertainment channels are all set to broadcast various dramas and telefilms during all three days of Eid festivities. Geo Entertainment is always in the lead with its superhit dramas, movies and special telefilms.

    Geo has got something special lined up for us on each day of Eid, so let’s take a detailed look at their Eid line-up for all three days:

    Eid Day 1

    On the first day of Eid, Geo Entertainment has got us all covered with feature films, special telefilms, and drama serials. Geo will be kicking off Eid celebrations with a signature feature film, Heer Maan Ja, which will go on-air at 10:30am. The film features Ali Rehman Khan and Hareem Farooq in lead roles and covers their exciting journey of how they parted ways and then met years later only for their lives to turn upside down and turning into a rollercoaster ride where Heer falls into danger and needs Kabeer’s help.

    Up next, they’ve got the perfect animated film to keep the children busy, which is The Donkey King, which will air at 2pm.     At next at 8pm, they’ve got the super hit drama serial by 7th Sky entertainment, which is Fitoor. Starring Faysal Qureshi, Hiba Bukhari and Wahaj Ali in pivotal roles, this drama serial is a must watch! Produced by the media moguls of the entertainment industry, Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi, the drama narrates a love story that transcends above all and how a person in love is bound to forget his worries of the past and the uncertainty of the future.

    Finally, at 9pm they’ve got an all-new rom-com telefilm, perfect to watch with your family members, Romantic Razia. Another ace production by 7th Sky production, the telefilm features Hina Altaf and Azfar Rehman in lead roles. Hina, who plays the role of Razia dreams of going to the northern areas for her honeymoon and Rameez, played by Azfar, crosses paths with Hina. However, a misunderstanding happens between the two and so their families try to resolve it as they try to bring the two together. A great watch during the Eid holidays and something to look forward to for sure!

    To conclude day one, Dil Tera Hogaya will go on-air at 11pm. Starring Feroze Khan and Zara Noor Abbas, this is another great telefilm produced under the banner of 7th Sky Entertainment. The story follows two families who are divided by familial relationships but united by hearts. The perfect end to Eid day one!

    Eid Day 2

    Just like the first day of Eid, Geo has got some pretty interesting picks for the second day as well. Kickstarting the day at 10:30am with a hilarious film, Wrong No starring Danish Taimoor, Javed Sheikh, Sohai Ali Abro, and Danish Nawaz, this film will definitely get you in a great mood at the start of Eid day two.

    Up next is 7th Sky Entertainment’s hit telefilm, Teri Meri Kahani at 2pm. This romantic telefilm starring Haroon Kadwani and Seher Khan is the perfect watch!

    Followed with another Mega Episode of Kurulus Osman at 5pm, another new episode of Bechari Qudsia at 7pm, and then an all-new episode of the drama serial Fitoor at 8pm.

    Keeping the tradition and spirit of Eid alive, an all-new telefilm by the maestro production house, 7th Sky Entertainment, Dadi Ka Damad will go on-air at 9pm. The telefilm, produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi, stars the lovely duo of Affan Waheed and Madiha Imam and centres on familial ties and two families reuniting. The trailers of the telefilm have already created a lot of buzz amongst fans and it’ll no doubt be a great watch with the family during the Eid festivities.

    Eid day two comes to an end with another must-watch telefilm, Zoya ne haan kardi, which goes on-air at 11pm. This story is about a young couple starring Agha Ali and Hiba Bukhari who are bound by their families, struggle to get into a relationship with each other. This light-hearted telefilm is the perfect end to a perfect Eid day two.

    Eid Day 3

    Just like Eid day one and two, Eid day three also has a great, entertaining lineup for us all. Geo entertainment will be starting us off with a revenge thriller film, Wajood at 10:30am starring Javed Sheikh, Danish Taimoor, Nadeem Baig, and Saeeda Imtiaz.     Government blames Nawaz Sharif for PM Khan’s phone hacking

    Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Farrukh Habib, said that when Prime Minister Imran Khan’s phone was being hacked through Pegasus spyware, it was Nawaz Sharif’s government.

    Farrukh made this statement after The Guardian reported that the Indian government targeted Prime Minister Imran Khan’s phone for surveillance.

    Farrukh further added that while Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was busy hacking the phones of his Opposition, who knows, Nawaz Sharif might have sought Modi’s help for some other purposes as well.

    “We will not allow them [Nawaz Sharif and Narendra Modi] to remain silent on these issues,” added Farrukh.

    Special Assistant to Prime Minister Dr Shahbaz Gill tweeted, “Maryam Safdar kept speaking against Imran Khan. Today, the international media has once again exposed the nexus between her [Maryam Nawaz’s] father and Israel.”

    “He [Nawaz Sharif] was working with Israel to hack the phones of Imran Khan and other government officials,” added Gill.

    
    
  • NCOC Eid ul Azha guidelines: Sacrifice is not allowed at home

    The National Command Operation Centre (NCOC) has announced numerous guidelines for Eid ul Azha, which will be celebrated tomorrow, Wednesday, in Pakistan. The NCOC has recommended that no Qurbani should be allowed at home/residential areas, reported Samaa.

    The government has requested the public to follow all the precautionary measures as the country is heading towards the fourth wave of coronavirus.

    The Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding Qurbani include:

    Provinces to initiate awareness campaigns to educate people on the spread of the virus during meat distribution.

    Religious leaders told to encourage collective Qurbani.

    The skin of sacrificed animals will not be given to banned organisations.

    Minimum persons to be allowed at the Qurbani site.

    Last week, Special Assistant to the PM on Health, Dr Faisal Sultan stated that it is mandatory to wear masks and maintain distance from the crowds even for unvaccinated individuals.

    Following the outbreak of the Delta variant in Karachi, more restrictions have been imposed in various parts of the country. The positivity rate on July 20 remains at 5.25 percent.

    Activist and Wasim Akram’s better half, Shaneira Akram schooled actress Minal Khan for not wearing a seat belt. Shaneira shared a screenshot from Minal Khan’s recent video in which she can be seen travelling without wearing a seat belt wrote with her beau Ahsan Mohsin Ikram, the Australian diva captioned her post as, “Come on guys you are famous, and have millions of followers, is it too hard to be a little more responsible?”

    She added, “Put your seat belt and eyes on the road, I’m sorry to say but that song won’t be as cute if she is singing it in hospital.”

    To which Ahsan Mohsin replied indirectly by posting on his social media handles. The Pyar Ke Sadqay actor posted a picture of himself with a cryptic caption on Instagram stating, ‘Live the life you want to live and never let others dictate how you should live your life.     The Lahore Se Aagay diva Ayesha Omar took notice of the matter and lauded Shaniera’s stance on the issue by also citing her own personal tragic incidence. She also encouraged the use of a seat belt.

    Murderer, rapist of seven-year-old girl turns out to be her own brother

    The brother of a 7-year-old girl who was strangled to death after being sexually assaulted has turned out to be her murderer.

    As per reports, the suspect was allegedly sexually abusing his sister for several months.

    The 14-year-old boy confessed to murdering his sister for fear of being caught by family members.

    District Police Officer (DPO) Bilal Iftikhar Kayani appreciated the police officers and gave cash rewards to personnel for tracing and arresting the suspect.

    Almost a  month ago, the police took action after a labourer, Abdul Ghafoor filed a complaint at Bada Ghar police station that his 7-year-old daughter had gone missing from the house.

    Bachiki In-charge police, Anjum Rizwan Cheema was directed to investigate the missing girl incident.

    He along with other police officers and personnel conducted a search operation for the missing girl in the village and nearby areas. Initially, the police could not find the minor girl.

    The next day after she was reported missing, the body of the girl was found in a field near the village. Initial investigations suggested she had been strangled to death after being raped.

    As soon as the incident was reported, DPO Kiani, Bada Ghar DSP Circle Mian Khalid Mehmood, SHO Muhammad Botha Dogar, and Bachiki in charge, collected proof after checking the scene.

    Police arrested the suspect after a search operation. Reportedly, the DNA sample of the victim’s brother had matched, indicating his involvement in the crime.

    The suspect has confessed to the crime during an investigation.

    Police officials added that Saqlain also confessed to sexually assaulting his little sister for several months.

    The juvenile suspect also stated that he had sexually assaulted animals.

    DPO Kiani remarked that this rape-cum-murder incident had reflected the moral decay of society. we need to revive our values to avoid such heinous crimes, he added.

    The DPO  said that he along with his team will organise awareness lectures in all educational institutions so that children can be told about their values. He appealed to the citizens to come forward and play their role in preventing such incidents. “We must provide our children with education as well as training.”
