Dhoop Ki Deewar’s trailer promises an engaging tale with the message of peace

After delivering super successful dramas together with Yaqeen Ka Safar and Yeh Dil Mera, Ahad Raza Mir and Sajal Aly are set to treat their fans in an engaging cross-border tale of love, hate and nationalism directed by Haseeb Hassan.

Sajal plays Sara from Pakistan and Ahad essays the role of Vishal from India. The trailer provides us an insight on how the militant attacks at the border from both the sides effect the normal people and their livelihood in a gruesome manner.

The series attempts at normalizing the similarities that Indians and Pakistanis share rather than clouting the differences between the two. It reflects on the similar family structure and values on both sides of the border. If a Pakistani gets hurt and affected by the militant strikes so does the Indians. It also ponders on the point in the fights of governments and militants, its the normal citizen which gets affected.

What makes the screenplay more gripping is the connection shared between Sara and Vishal who fall for each other through social media despite not meeting each other even once knowing the fact that their future is not in their hands and that their countries are at loggerheads. The two stand in front of their families to defend their lover and even try to improve the fabricated narrative about their partner’s community.

The background score adds to the intrigue of the screenplay whereas crisp editing works for the show’s mise-en-scene, making the narrative fast paced and engaging.

Dhoop Ki Deewar is an ensemble and stars Manzar Sehbai, Sawera Nadeem, Samiya Mumtaz, Zaib Rehman, Samina Ahmed, Zoya Nasir and child star Sami Khan in pivotal roles. It premieres on June 25 on Zee5.

The staff present at the vaccination centre stated that they could only administer the vaccine provided by the government which was not what the expats were demanding.

As a result of this, expats protested by holding placards and demanded that the prime minister should ensure the availability of Pfizer vaccine for them.

They maintained that Overseas Pakistanis are a source of billions of dollars coming into the country yet they are being humiliated over a vaccine. They demanded a date be announced for them so that they could get vaccinated.

Earlier, it had issued guidelines that only a limited amount of Pfizer vaccine was available in Pakistan, therefore, only Haj pilgrims and student and work visa holders for foreign countries would be immunised with it.

The Saraab star appeared on Geo News’ sports show, Jashan-e-Cricket hosted by Shahzad Iqbal. When the host asked Sonya about her opinion on Special Assistant to the Punjab Chief Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan’s slap incident with PPP MNA Qadir Khan Mandokhail,

She said: “When you appear on TV then you have some responsibility to behave well. If someone deserves it then it’s alright but one should not disrespect women, for instance Khalil Sahab disrespected women. When you are on a media platform then you should keep your personal views aside and talk responsibly.”

Khalil had earlier claimed that he never offered the role of the female lead in his blockbuster drama to Sonya, and nor did he ever want to cast her in the show as he believes she doesn’t have the caliber of being in his play. While the Aangan actress has claimed that she was offered Ayeza’s character in the play but she had turned it down because she can’t tolerate women being shown in a bad light in dramas.

Sonya revealed that Khalil did approach her in the past and still does. She added that he has no rights of casting as he is just a writer.

But Khalil refuted her claim and stated that Sonya was making a false claim on being offered the role. He further added that it was impossible to cast her in the play because he would have refused it outright.

The Kaaf kangana writer also indulged in a misogynist war of words with political commentator Marvi Sirmed in March 2020 which started a debate on his misconduct in the industry.

  • ‘We do not use the Sindh card’: PPP responds to Fawad Chaudhry

‘We do not use the Sindh card’: PPP responds to Fawad Chaudhry

In a hard-hitting press conference at the Governor House in Karachi, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry took a jibe at the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and the Sindh cabinet, blaming them for stealing Sindh’s water.

Fawad said Punjab was not stealing Sindh’s water but Bilawal and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and the provincial cabinet were guilty of the crime.

“The water never runs short when it comes to Zardari and his sister’s lands,” added Chaudhry. He said the Centre had increased the share for provinces in the federal budget and that Sindh would receive more than Rs750bn according to the National Finance Commission (NFC) award.

“If so much money is coming in (each year), where is it going?” he asked. “They [Sindh government] were unable to create a [competent] police force in the city. They have to seek help from the Sindh Rangers every time,” added the minister.

Turning his guns towards the PPP leadership, Chaudhry accused Zardari of limiting the chief minister and provincial assembly’s role.

“All decisions are taken by the Zardari family,” he said. “They appoint one person as a rubberstamp chief minister. The Zardari family runs the chief minister in accordance with their wishes,” added Chaudhry.

Sindh Minister for Information Nasir Hussain Shah responded at length to the allegations by Fawad Chaudhry against the Sindh government.

Shah claimed that Chaudhry used to conspire against Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar and now he is making statements against Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah based on “utter lies”.

“Murad Ali Shah has never done the kind of politics that he has been accused of. We do not use the Sindh card, rather we advocate for the Pakistan card,” Nasir said.

Nasir Hussain Shah added it was rather unfortunate that Chaudhry spoke out against the Sindh police, who have made countless sacrifices in ensuring law and order.

“Who do you think thwarted the attack on the stock exchange which had foreign intervention?” he asked. “We have a lot of respect for the Rangers and they have supported us a lot but the sacrifices made by Sindh Police have ensured our success.”

Shah said this propaganda that Sindh is not delivering is baseless. The reality, he said, is that the Sindh government is a thorn in the government’s side. “They themselves say that Sindh is not theirs. And they cannot digest the fact that the chief minister is performing.”

  • Hasan Ali’s personal issue resolved, available for rest of PSL 2021

Hasan Ali’s personal issue resolved, available for rest of PSL 2021

Islamabad United have received a boost in their challenge for the PSL title this season with the news that fast bowler Hasan Ali will, after all, be available for the rest of their campaign. Ali was due to fly back on Sunday evening to attend to a personal family situation in Pakistan but decided against it after the matter was resolved.

“I was going through a personal family issue, which has been resolved thanks to my wonderful wife,” Ali said in a statement. “She assured me she will take care of it and wants me to concentrate on my cricket and my career. Hats off to such a wonderful partner. She has always stood by me through the hardest times and after consulting with her, I have decided to stay on with Islamabad United for the remainder of the PSL 6.”

Two-time winners United moved to the top of the table on Sunday evening after a convincing win over Lahore Qalandars. United were 20 for 5 at one point before recovering to 152 for 7, thanks to 75 from Asif Ali and 49 from Iftikhar Ahmed. Their bowlers then blew apart Qalandars as Musa Khan, Shadab Khan and Fawad Ahmed induced a collapse from 86 for 2 to 100 for 9.

Despite missing a game, Ali is United’s top wicket-taker this season – and fifth in the league – with 10 wickets. His PSL returns have been in line with his performances since he returned to cricket this season after a series of injuries derailed his career.

Since Ali didn’t leave the bubble, he will not need to re-enter and undergo quarantine. United are scheduled to face defending champions Karachi Kings on Monday.
