  • Govt will complete its term: CM Punjab

Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Usman Buzdar on Wednesday said that the government will definitely complete five years and the next general elections will be held in 2023. Talking to Punjab cabinet members and Punjab Assembly parliamentarians, CM Punjab said that Punjab is significantly ahead of all other provinces. Buzdar said that the politics of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is over. He added that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is spending money on backward areas as well, and not just Lahore. “People only want development and prosperity, the PTI government is pursuing equal development of every city,” added Buzdar.

Is ‘Bennifer’ back after seventeen years?

Jennifer Lopez, who recently called off her engagement with Alex Rodriguez after four years together, was spotted hanging out with ex-beau Ben Affleck. Lopez and Affleck dated from 2002 to 2004 and their relationship also ended with a broken engagement.

According to reports, the couple formerly known as ‘Bennifer,’ spent an entire week in Los Angeles. Despite having split up for more than seventeen years, the duo was spotted spending time together at Lopez’s LA mansion. The Oscar winner was photographed multiple times going to J Lo’s California home during the day after having been picked up in a white Escalade SUV that allegedly belongs to Lopez.

While the pair have not been spotted together, Page Six reported that “security picks him [Affleck] up at a nearby location and drops him off after spending a few hours at her house.”

“They have spent time together in L.A. over the past week,” reported People Magazine. “They have a lot of love for each other. They have always admired each other.”

Meanwhile, an insider reportedly shut down rumours of a rekindling romance, saying that the duo have “always been friends and they have seen each other through the years.”

Affleck and Lopez were engaged in 2002 but they postponed their wedding in 2003. They split months later in January 2004. Lopez called her breakup with Affleck “probably my first big heartbreak.”

It has also been reported that J Lo has been seeing famous friends after her breakup with Rodriguez. She allegedly also met up with another ex Marc Anthony.

‘We are all the same’: Barcelona church opens doors to Ramzan dinners

With COVID-19 limitations holding Barcelona’s Islamic population from celebrating Ramadan at the usual indoor venues, a Catholic church has opened its open-air cloisters for Muslims to eat and pray together.

As per details, every evening almost 50 to 60 Muslims, many of them homeless, walk into the centuries-old stone passages of the Santa Anna church where they are offered with home-cooked food by the volunteers.

“We are all the same… If you are Catholic or of another religion and I am Muslim, that’s fine,” said Hafid Oubrahim, a 27-year old Moroccan of Berber descent who attends the dinners.

“We are all like brothers and we must help each other too.”

“People are very happy that Muslims can do Iftar in a Catholic church, because religions serve to unite us, not to separate us,” said Chati.

Sanchez looked on as a man intoned the Muslim evening call to prayer beneath the orange trees of the church’s central courtyard, illuminated by the flames of gas heaters.

“Even with different cultures, different languages, different religions, we are more capable of sitting down and talking than some politicians,” said the rector.

The police on Tuesday arrested a man in Faisalabad for throwing his four children into a canal at Sheikhupura Road.

According to details, the man had an argument with his wife four days ago over not having new Eid clothes for their children.

  • Meghan Markle is writing a book on Harry & Archie’s relationship

Meghan Markle is writing a book on Harry & Archie’s relationship

Meghan Markle is about to become a published author. The Duchess of Sussex on Tuesday announced that she will be publishing a children’s book next month titled The Bench about the relationship between a father and son based on her husband Prince Harry and the couple’s child Archie. It will highlight family dynamics between a father and son through the eyes of a mother.

The book is the latest venture by Meghan and Harry, Queen Elizabeth’s grandson, since they stepped down from royal duties and moved to Los Angeles last year with Archie, who celebrates his second birthday later this week.

Illustrated by artist Christian Robinson, The Bench will hit shelves on June 8, with Meghan narrating an audiobook version, publisher Random House Children’s Books said.

The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father’s Day, the month after Archie was born. That poem became this story,” the duchess said in a statement. “My hope is that The Bench resonates with every family, no matter the makeup, as much as it does with mine.”

The cover art features a bench beneath a large tress with chickens all around. Robinson explains the concept behind it by describing Meghan as “a mother, wife, feminist, and activist” who “currently resides in her home state of California with her family, two dogs, and a growing flock of rescue chickens.”

An illustration also features a father wearing a military uniform which is Meghan’s way of honouring Harry’s tenure as a captain in the British Army.

Another illustration showcases a father sitting with his son under a tree.

Meanwhile, Meghan, who is pregnant with the couple’s second child, is not the first royal to venture into the world of children’s literature.

Heir-to-the-throne Prince Charles wrote The Old Man of Lochnagar based on stories he used to tell his young brothers, while Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, has also penned a number of children’s stories.

Meghan and Harry have rarely been out of the media spotlight since they gave an explosive interview to Oprah Winfrey in February, accusing one unnamed royal of making a racist remark and ignoring her pleas for help when she felt suicidal.

Harry returned to Britain for the first time since that interview for the funeral of his grandfather Prince Philip last month.

  • How electoral reforms will affect you

How electoral reforms will affect you

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday said the federal cabinet had approved two ordinances pertaining to the reforms in the country’s electoral system. The said electoral reforms consist of four parts; electronic voting machines (EVMs), e-voting for overseas Pakistanis, use of biometric authentication, and legislation,” the minister informed.

    https://twitter.com/FawadPTIUpdates/status/1389548245496500229

Out of the approved ordinances, one is in relevance to the electronic voting, whereas the other aims to facilitate overseas Pakistani voters. The ordinance authorizes the Election Commission to use the EVM machine. However, Fawad Chaudhry added, PML-N and PPP are reluctant on providing this EVM facility to the overseas Pakistanis.

He emphasized that the government has fulfilled its responsibility regarding legislation on the subject. “Technological work is to be done on biometric and e-voting,” Fawad added.

Fawad said that after the ordinance, it is up to the ECP to include overseas Pakistanis in the voting process.

The move comes after PPP’s NA-249 by-election victory, which was declared a “stolen” election by the PML-N.

It also comes after PM extended an invitation to Opposition parties to sit down with the government and work on electoral reforms so elections can be made fair and transparent for all.

Mashal Khan requests people to stop pulling her into Ali Ansari, Saboor Aly’s engagement

Mashal Khan has requested people to stop pulling her into Ali Ansari and Saboor Aly’s engagement, which took place a few days back.

Soon after the couple announced the news, people start sharing clips of Aamir Liaquat’s Jeeway Pakistan where Liaquat was teasing Ali with Mashal’s name. Later, netizens also shared old pictures of Mashal and Ali making memes on them and trolling them.

While Ali and Saboor continued to ignore them, Mashal has stood up and requested fans to stop dragging her into the entire situation.

“It is so sad that a moment which is supposed to be of so much happiness for a couple has been turned into idle gossip,” said Khan. “It has come to my knowledge that several attempts are being made to pull me into Ali Ansari and Saboor Aly’s engagement announcement.”

Congratulating the newly engaged couple, Mashal said: “Let’s not try to ruin someone’s moment, shall we?”

Meanwhile, Ali recently shared an emotional photo with Saboor from their engagement ceremony in which both him and Saboor were teary-eyed.

“For everyone out there, value, respect and spend time with your loved ones. Here is to new beginnings and all kinds of emotions. I got you,” he wrote.

Following the post, Saboor commented saying how her late mother would have been very happy had she been here while expressing her gratitude towards Ali.

Honda increases bike prices for the fourth time in 2021

Honda has increased the prices of its motorcycles for the fourth time this year bringing the new CD70 (cash deposit) to Rs84,500.

Furthermore, the famous Honda CG-125 has seen a price hike of Rs3,000 as it will now cost Rs139,500 against the old price of Rs 136,500. The price for CD70-Dream has jumped to Rs 90,500 after an increase of Rs2,600.

New price list for Honda bikes after price increase

The new price of CG-125 (self starter) is now 167,500, while the price of a CB-125F is Rs200,500. CB-150F is for Rs255,500 after an increase of Rs3,000.

Earlier in April 2021, the motorbikes manufacturing company increased the prices up to Rs1,600 of Honda CD70, CD dream and Honda Pridor. The Honda CG125, CG 125F, Honda CG 125s, and Honda CB 150F each witnessed a price jump of Rs1,600.

The increase in the prices is happening now for the fourth time in 2021. First, the company increased the prices on New Year’s Eve. One month later, the company announced another price increase on February 1.

Honda Atlas has not provided any reason for price inflation. The value of the rupee had strengthened against the dollar and the general public was naturally expecting a decrease in the price, but Honda has lambasted people with four consecutive price hikes.

Lastly, Honda Atlas is famous for monotony in technology and design. Since the 1990s, Honda hasn’t brought any technical or aesthetical innovation to its bikes. In an insult to injury, the general sentiment is that the quality of bikes has further deteriorated.

How would you rate this attitude of Honda? Let us know in the comment section.
