    Here’s how to maintain iPhone’s battery health and charge faster

    Although using a wall charger is the simplest way of charging a phone, there are a variety of other methods that might be either better or worse. The answer largely relies on the type of charger you use, the location where you charge it, and the settings and features you have enabled or disabled on your phone.

    These tips and methods will help you charge your iPhone effectively and efficiently so that it charges more quickly than previously. If you need to charge your iPhone faster and save your battery health, there are a few things you must know.

    How to charge faster

    A fast charger, which consists of a 20-watt power adapter and a USB-C to Lightning connector, is the quickest way to charge your iPhone. You can quickly charge your phone from zero to roughly 50 per cent battery in about 30 minutes if you have an iPhone 8 or later. You can fully charge it if you have an hour to spare.

    If you’re pressed for time, always use the fast charger since it can increase your battery by double digits with just 10 minutes of fast charging.

    Only the cable is now included when you purchase a new phone from Apple. However, you can still buy the company’s 20-watt power adapter from either Apple or online stores. Apple claims that other fast-charging power bricks are also compatible, although an iPhone 12 and later cannot be fast-charged without at least a 20-watt power brick.

    Another way to charge your iPhone is using Apple’s MagSafe charger and a 20-watt power supply, but in order to take advantage of the faster 15-watt wireless charging, you must possess either an iPhone 12 or an iPhone 13. If your iPhone is dead, wireless charging should restore it to roughly 30 per cent battery in about 30 minutes.

    How to maintain iPhone’s battery health

    Charge at cooler places

    Batteries made of lithium-ion material are vulnerable to high temperatures. Apple has also disclosed the acceptable temperature range for iOS devices’ comfort zones.

    The suggested operating range is from 32°F to 95°F (0°C to 35°C). However, it is not practically feasible because many locations have temperatures that are far higher than the acceptable operating range. Therefore, to keep your phone warm, you may either use thick cases or keep it out of the sun on a hot day.

    Additionally, because it raises room temperature, avoid leaving your iPhone in enclosed areas with little airflow, such as vehicles. Many individuals leave their phones in the glove box or other hot areas of their vehicles, which elevates the temperature of the device. 

    Simply said, heat kills batteries because it permanently reduces their capacity. Extreme cold momentarily compromises the health of the battery.

    Please make sure to charge your iPhone in “comfortable temperature zones” as charging in high ambient temperatures is not advised.

    Do not let iPhone overheat

    Heat destroys batteries, as was previously indicated. Consequently, watch out that your iPhone doesn’t get too hot while it’s charging. Apple claims that unlike extreme cold conditions, which only temporarily lowers battery capacity, heat permanently damages battery capacity.

    The chemicals in the battery’s interior structure may alter due to heat, which could further harm the voltage indication. A malfunctioning voltage indication won’t be able to regulate the current flow to prevent overcharging of the iPhone, which will lead to battery and iPhone damage.

    Use original or certified chargers only 

    The use of charging accessories that are not approved by Apple is one of the most frequent causes of poor iPhone battery health. Always check to see if the adapter and charging cord are MFi approved.

    Made for iPod, Made for iPhone, and Made for iPad are together referred to as MFi. Apple only allows businesses to use the MFi branding on their products once they pass the company’s strict device and facility tests. Therefore, be sure to carefully check the charging accessories for the MFi logo.

    A tiny authentication chip, for instance, is present in each lighting cable adaptor and notifies the iPhone when it is MFi approved. When iPhone discovers a cable that is not MFi approved, it otherwise displays a pop-up.

    Enable Optimised Battery Charging

    With iOS 13, optimized battery charging was added, extending the life of your battery and enhancing its overall health. It makes predictions about when your iPhone will need to be charged for a longer amount of time using machine learning to learn from your everyday charging habits.

    For instance, many people have the practice of overnight charging their iPhones. In order to ensure that the iPhone is fully charged by the time you wake up, the machine learning algorithm will use data from previous charging and unplugging operations. This is done by the algorithm to ensure that the iPhone charges more quickly.

    When the function is activated, the scheduled time by which the iPhone will be fully charged is displayed. To immediately charge it to 100 per cent, select “Charge Now” from the menu.

    The federal government placed the names of two of former Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s close aides — Mirza Shahzad Akbar and Ziaul Mustafa Naseem — on the no-fly list pertaining to a private housing scheme at the request of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

    According to media reports, the cabinet removed the 22 names from the Exit Control List (ECL) and added the names of 10 people to it.

    Both Akbar and Naseem are presently in the United Kingdom (UK). According to Dawn, as per practice, if a person whose name is placed on ECL is abroad, he is arrested on his return and handed over to the relevant law-enforcement agency.

    Akbar has served as an adviser on interior and accountability to former PM Khan. He left for Dubai on April 17, from where he flew to London five days later, five days after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended FIA orders placing his name on the stop list.

    Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah accused Akbar and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi of accepting Rs5 billion and hundreds of kanals from a housing developer in return for “providing protection” to the real estate firm in the same case during their term.

    Earlier this month, the coalition government reportedly decided to put the names of Khan and other PTI leaders on the no-fly list to prevent them from leaving the country.

    Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa was given United Arab Emirates (UAE’s) highest civil award.

    Pakistan’s army chief was conferred upon Order of the Union Medal by President of UAE for making significant contributions in furthering bilateral ties between both the countries.

    UAE President Mohammad bin Zayed presented the award to General Bajwa. The army chief is on an official visit to the Gulf state.

    The military media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said General Bajwa also called upon the President of UAE, H.H Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

    Matters of mutual interest, bilateral defence, security cooperation and regional security situation discussed. The leaders agreed that Pakistan and the UAE share a great history of cordial relations

    In June, Mohammed Bin Salman decorated COAS Bajwa with the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellent Class for making “significant contributions in defence cooperation” between Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

    The medal was named after Saudi Arabia’s founding King Abdulaziz Al Saud and is considered the highest civilian honour in KSA.

    Suzuki Swift’s price has decreased significantly by Rs199,000 compared to all other vehicles. The top Suzuki Swift GLX CVT variant will now be sold for Rs3.760 million as compared to its earlier price of Rs3.959 million.

    Attack on polio team: Two police officers martyred

    Two police officers were martyred in an armed attack on a polio squad in a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) district. Armed men opened fire on the polio team in Tank district.

    Constables Pir Rehman and Nisar were killed in the incident. They were both deputed on the security of the polio team.

    Following the incident, a contingent of police and security forces arrived in the area, collected evidence, and began the investigation by gathering eyewitness testimony.

    The current polio campaign will run until August 24.

    Earlier this year in June, one polio worker and three others were killed as a result of an attack on the polio team in North Waziristan.
    Pakistan has reported at least six cases of polio this year, As per the World Health Organisation (WHO), Pakistan and Afghanistan are the only two polio-endemic nations in the world.

    Apparently Aamir, as co-producer, has taken responsibility for the film’s failure and is working at partially compensating for the heavy losses incurred by distributors.

    Earlier this month trade Analyst Ali Zain shared on his Twitter handle that Khan has submitted his big-budget film, Laal Singh Chadda for NOC in Pakistan.

    Although Indian films are currently banned in Pakistan, this could have initiated a new wave of Bollywood mania in Pakistani cinema houses.

    On the recent boycott Twitter trend for his film, the Rang De Basanti star said, “Yes, I feel sad. Also, I feel sad that some of the people who are saying this, in their hearts, believe that I am someone who doesn’t like India. In their hearts, they believe, but it is untrue.     Earlier in an interview with News18, the actor opened on why he gave up alcohol. In the interview, he said that he used to down the entire bottle but later felt it was not okay.

    While speaking to the news portal, the Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak actor said, “I used to drink sometimes, but I don’t anymore. Some people take two pegs and they are sorted. But I was never one of those who drank regularly. I used to drink on occasions, but whenever I did sit down to drink, I would down the entire bottle. And I felt that that was not okay.”

    Did water come to earth by asteroids?

    Water may have been brought to Earth by asteroids from the outer edges of the solar system.

    A report in Deccan Herald (DH) suggests that scientists said this after analysing rare samples collected on a six-year Japanese space mission. Researchers scrutinised material brought back to earth in 2020 from the asteroid Ryugu.

    The 5.4 grams (0.2 ounces) of rocks and dust were gathered by a Japanese space probe, called Hayabusa-2, that landed on the celestial body and fired an impactor into its surface.

    In a new paper published in the journal Nature Astronomy, scientists said the Ryugu samples could give clues to the mystery of how oceans appeared on Earth billions of years ago.

    “Volatile and organic-rich C-type asteroids may have been one of the main sources of Earth’s water,” said a study by scientists from Japan and other countries.

    But the organic materials found “in Ryugu particles, identified in this study, probably represent one important source of volatiles”.

    In an interview to The Economist on Pakistan’s Independence Day, Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the root problems of the economic crisis gripping the nation nowadays.

    Titled “Pakistan’s prime minister on his drive to modernise the country“, PM Shehbaz mainly talked about critical structural flaws that hindered the state’s economy. According to him, the first reason is that Pakistan’s political environment has become increasingly polarised.

    “Instead of debating how to run Pakistan better and rid the country of poverty, political parties have been at each other’s throats,” he pointed out.

    “We have not invested enough in the nuts and bolts of development: education, health and infrastructure. This is in part due to an abysmally low tax take, but it also reflects our priorities in public spending.”

    PM Shehbaz further highlighted the fact that Pakistan has not enjoyed the benefits of globalisation.

    “Today, we hardly make anything that the world wants and our companies remain very comfortable only operating within our borders, often protected by barriers to competition,” he stressed.

    He pointed out that Pakistan’s exports are just 10 per cent. Shehbaz said that where “two out of every three people are below the age of 30 and full of aspirations and where every third person lives on less than $3.20 a day and less than a quarter of our women work outside the home,” it is a moment that merits “serious introspection”.

    ‘Pakistan was one of the biggest victims of state-sponsored terrorism’: PM Shehbaz

    In an interview with Newsweek’s senior foreign policy writer Tom O’Connor, PM Shehbaz said it was no secret that Pakistan was “one of the biggest victims of state-sponsored terrorism that is planned, supported and financed by hostile intelligence agencies”.

    He went on to say that terrorist attacks against Chinese nationals were “aided and abetted by forces inimical to the Pakistan-China strategic partnership”.

    Talking about friction between the US and China, the premier said: “While the Pakistan-China relationship is very special, Pakistan and the US have also maintained a long-standing historic bilateral relationship which covers all issues of mutual interest.”

    He was of the view that the world cannot afford to go back into another “era of Cold War or bloc politics”.

    The premier called for all parties to agree to the “minimum rules of the game in which the welfare of the people remains paramount”.

    “Systematic problems can be fixed through engagement and consultations among all political stakeholders. This course may take time, but is the only way forward for the system to become strong, resilient and efficient.”

    This year marks the 75th year of independence for Pakistan. To commemorate the occasion, 253 Pakistani citizens from all walks of life, as well as foreign nationals, were awarded the highest honours: the Pakistan Civil Awards by President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi, for showing excellent courage and remarkable achievements in their respective fields. A number of prominent Pakistani celebrities, belonging to the field of entertainment and sports were also conferred with the Civil Awards.

    The investiture ceremony of these awards will take place on Pakistan Day — March 23, 2023.

    14 athletes are also honoured with civil awards.

    Three athletes from the cricketing world have received the awards. Skipper Babar Azam was bestowed with Sitara-i-Imtiaz, women’s cricket team captain Bismah received Tamgha-i-Imtiaz and blind cricketer Masood Jan was honoured with the Pride of Performance award.

    Two kabbadi players Ch Shafay Hussain and Shafiq Ahmed Chishti were honoured with Sitara-i-Imtiaz, Tamgha-i-Imtiaz respectively.

    Ahsan Ramzan (Snooker), Amina Wali (Skiing), Abdul Karim (Mountaineer/Porter), Irfan Mehsood (Martial Arts) and Ms Shahida (Karate) athletes were also awarded with Pride of Performance.

    ‘I am an easy target’: Miftah Ismail reacts to criticism after another petroleum hike

    Finance Minister (FM) Miftah Ismail once again explained how the petrol prices are calculated after receiving criticism for the increase in petroleum prices.

    Responding to senior journalist Hamid Mir on Twitter, he said the government has not imposed any tax on petroleum products.

    Clarifying his position, the minister said that he did not say that the price will not be increased.

    “Mir sahib I said I will not add one penny of new taxes or levies to the price. And I have not. But you know Hamid sahib that the fuel price summary is moved by OGRA and sent to Finance division through the Petroleum division. We get it only a few hours before prices are set.”

    “I am an easy target. Which is fine. But this price change only reflects the change in PSO costs and doesn’t have any new taxes,” said Miftah Ismail.

    The finance minister added that people are welcome to critique or criticise him.

    “I know I am sincere to my country and have saved it from default and working to the best of my ability.”

    Zardari unhappy with govt’s decision to increase petrol prices

    Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari distanced himself from the recent increase in the petroleum prices by the government.

    Zardari said the PPP is a part of the government and supports it, but there must be consultations on such decisions.

    “We are all here in this government to give relief to the people and that should be our top priority. We are with the prime minister and will meet him soon and talk about the economic team,” he added.

    ‘I am not involved in this decision’: Nawaz Sharif leaves party meeting over increase in petrol prices

    Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz took to Twitter and said that PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif was unhappy with the government increasing the petrol prices and as a result left the meeting.

    “Mian Sahib strongly opposed this decision and even said that I cannot burden the people with one more penny. And if there is any compulsion of the government, I am not involved in this decision and he left the meeting,” tweeted Maryam.

    She further tweeted, “I stand with the people. Cannot support this decision.”

    The government increased the price of petrol by Rs6.72 per litre and decreased the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs0.51 and kerosene oil by Rs1.67 per litre.

    The price of light diesel oil (LDO) was raised by Rs0.43 per litre by the government.

    Prior to this, the coalition administration had decreased the cost of petrol and LDO starting on August 1 by Rs3.05 and Rs0.12, respectively.
