Here’s where you can get petrol in Lahore

Following oil industry’s warning of possible petroleum product shortages in Punjab and neighbouring areas due to road and highway blockades, a number of petrol pumps in the city have been closed.

Majority of petrol pumps in Lahore have been shut, particularly in the Cantt, DHA, Gulberg, and Johar Town area. When asked, the majority of retailers refused to comment on when petroleum sales would resume.

We have, however, contacted multiple managers of prominent petrol pumps in Lahore and asked if they are currently selling fuel.

Here are a few filling stations in different parts of the city that are still selling fuel:

    1. Euro Oil petrol pump opposite Shahnawaz Mercedes-Benz Showroom Gulberg
    2. Total parco Mazang road, Mazang Chungi
    3. Hascol DHA phase 2 U Block, opposite DHA cinema
    4. PSO Chowk Thokar Niaz Baig , Multan Road

Earlier, Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) said that oil marketing companies are supplying fuel to retailers but the deliveries could be slowed owing to road blockages in Punjab’s major cities.

Pakistan Customs intensifies inspection at all international airports

Pakistan Customs has intensified goods inspection at all international airports to prohibit the smuggling of recently banned commodities. The federal government prohibited the items in SRO No. 598(I)/2022, issued May 19, 2022, by revising the Import Policy Order, 2022.

This 24-hour monitoring at international terminals to prevent smuggling has already resulted in multiple confiscation of these items disguised as legitimate passenger baggage.

Banned commodities like foodstuff, fruits, sanitary wares, used mobile phones, and branded shoes were found in commercial quantities during scanning and inspection at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on May 23, 2022.

The aforementioned items were detained/seized in accordance with Sector 168 of the Customs Act of 1969 for violating SRO No. 598(I)/2022 (Import Policy Order, 2022) and Sections 16 and 139 of the Customs Act of 1969.

While applauding Pakistan Customs’ efforts, the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reaffirmed the FBR’s unwavering determination to strengthen policing strategies at all airports, seaports, and land border stations to ensure the avoidance of trafficking of goods, including newly banned items.

Finance Minister Miftah Ismail and FBR Chairman, on the other hand, have issued instructions not to bother genuine passengers bringing in goods in non-commercial/small quantities for personal use, and to assist such passengers at airports to the greatest extent permitted by law.

People in Pakistan were outraged by the Customs move, particularly those who had been thoroughly scanned and shared their side of the story on social media.

Developed world should do more to reduce emissions: Sherry Rehman

Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Sherry Rehman has stated that the developed world is the largest emitter of greenhouse gases and that the developed world should do more to reduce emissions rather than putting pressure on the most vulnerable countries.

She made these views during a session titled “The Future of Democracy” at the World Economic Forum 2022 in Davos, which is held every year.

Sherry said big international companies causing more pollution should show more responsibility to avoid environmental hazards.

She said democracy is the only solution to the problems of a multicultural country like Pakistan as it represents and protects the weaker sections of society and involves consensus, transparency and accountability.

She said dictatorships receive more aid, but they are not based on consensus.

Sherry Rehman took charge of the Climate Change Ministry on April 20.

‘Can still hear you, Calibri queen’: Khaled Anam slams Maryam Nawaz for removing ARY’s mic

Senior actor Khaled Anam took to his Instagram stories to taunt the Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, Maryam Nawaz for removing ARY channel’s mic at a press interaction. She also referred to the channel as a blackmailing channel.

Earlier this month he grilled veteran cricketer Shahid Afridi for his recent statements regarding former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He sarcastically pointed out how Shahid at times used to get out with zero runs on the cricket field.

In a recent interview with his family, Afridi stated, “I’ve liked Shehbaz Sharif since the beginning. Show me an administrator like him in Pakistan, you can’t because there is none,” countered the cricketer.

“I didn’t congratulate an Israeli prime minister, I congratulated a Pakistani prime minister. No matter who it was, I’d congratulate them,” he argued. “In my congratulations to Shehbaz Sharif, there was a protest as well, a personal protest between me and Imran Bhai,” he said. In his tweet, he wrote, “Congratulations to Shehbaz Sharif on being elected the 23rd prime minister of Pakistan and I hope that he will be able to use his management skills to bring Pakistan out of the current economic and political crisis.”

Afridi said Imran has been a role model for him since 1989 or 1990. “I wanted to become like him,” he said. “When he entered politics, I supported him. When he set up Shaukat Khanum, I supported him. Until he was in government, I supported him. But, I, my family my children, the whole of Pakistan had a lot of hopes for him,” he said.

The cricketer revealed that the 2013 election was the first time he had ever voted in his life. “A lot of educated people were inspired by Imran Bhai to go vote,” he said.

“I said everything as a Pakistani citizen. I did not have any political motives. And I will continue to say what I want. We have the right to do this and we should remember that,” he said.

The cricketer said he knew he would be criticised for congratulations PM Shehbaz but there were no political motives behind his message. He reiterated that he would have congratulated whomever was the premier because the position itself deserves respect. “We must respect our leaders so the world respects us,” he said.

“But if Imran Bhai says the [Durood Sharif], so do we every day in our prayers. But the fact of the matter is, God gives and God takes away. God gave Imran Khan and then He took it away. And He took it away because Imran Bhai made a lot of mistakes. And he should accept those mistakes,” said Afridi.

“If he accepts those mistakes, he will be able to create a good political party and come back stronger. I’ve always thought Imran Khan’s vision has been superb. It’s the vision of a leader. But to implement a vision, you need a team and he doesn’t have that team,” he criticised.

“The people he had were sidelined. Why were they sidelined? What things happened that Imran Bhai could improve? I feel like you should never leave the ground and for him, the ground is parliament. He should never leave parliament. After leaving it, you’re again coming out on the streets and on top of containers. Why are you doing this, friend?” he asked.

Once the video of his comments was uploaded online, it went viral, inviting a lot of criticism and hate from supporters of the former premier.

Earlier the Yeh Na Thi Hamari Kismat star shared his take on the new government’s decision to rescind the 10% increase on paycheck. He took to Instagram to share his stance.

OCAC warns of petrol supply shortages due to roadblocks

Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) said that oil marketing companies are supplying fuel to retailers but the deliveries are being slowed owing to road blockages in Punjab’s major cities, which could affect deliveries to filling stations.

It warned provincial authorities in Punjab that the road blockades have severed connectivity between major cities and neighboring areas, affecting fuel supplies inside the province.

The Oil Companies Advisory Council affirmed that there are sufficient stockpiles of gasoline products throughout the country, including depots in Punjab.

It also highlighted fears about the current scenario of roadblocks and the rumoured assumption of minimal stocks spreading on numerous platforms and asked the public to refrain from panic buying. Despite the roadblocks, there are enough stockpiles of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) in Punjab, and OMCs are constantly working to restock retail outlets on time.

OCAC expressed its concerns to the Chief Secretary of Punjab, requesting the local administration’s assistance in ensuring the safe and secure transit of tankers from different depots to different petrol outlets across the province till the scenario stabilizes.

In November 2021, when she appeared on Naumaan Ijaz’s talk show, G Sarkar on which she got candid about her political views.

“We grew up in Zia-ul-Haq’s era and then even saw Pervez Musharraf’s regime, itnay buray halaat nahi thay”, both were much better in comparison and the economic situation wasn’t as worse as in Imran Khan’s regime.

“He lied, PM Imran showed us dreams and then just shattered them.”

She also stated that she will never become a politician, even if she gets offered as politicians lie a lot and she cannot do that.

The Dour diva revealed that netizens often troll her and say that she has received money from Mariyam Nawaz or PML-N leaders.

Earlier Iffat tweeted sarcastically about PM Imran Khan.
