‘Men should lower their gaze’: Yashma Gill on rising sexual crimes against women

Actor Yashma Gill has blamed the “400 men” for the mob attack on Ayesha Akram at Minar-e-Pakistan.

The Pyar Ke Sadqay actor recently appeared on Gup Shup with FUCHSIA and talked about the increasing crimes against women in Pakistan, particularly Ayesha’s mob attack. “Why are we victim blaming the survivor? Those men had the free will to chose between right and wrong and they chose wrong,” stated the actor.

“She (Ayesha) may have planted some men but some might have the conscience not to do that,” added the Qurban actor.

She went on to say that some of her co-actresses said that Ayesha must have thought about her dressing before going there, “I stopped them right there and said that if women are to cover themselves then men should also lower their gaze according to Islam.”

The Alif star further said that nobody can say that she incited men to assault her, one should know whether somebody incites you, try not to be incited by that individual.

On the work front, Yashma can be seen currently in ARY’s Aazmaish opposite Fahad Sheikh, Furqan Qureshi and Kinza Hashmi.

It will be a little weird to see him as Chairman PCB after his long career as a cricket commentator. I wonder will he bid farewell to commentary? I hope he does.

It will be sunny today too! It’s been the longest summer, I swear.

Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi has advised girls to live their lives according to the principles of Islam.

According to a local news agency, this was said by the all-rounder as he visited the Bakhtawar Girls Cadet College in Nawabshah on Wednesday. Afridi was invited to visit the college by its principal Brigadier (Retd) Dr Muhammad Amin, reported Geo News.

Afridi was accompanied by members of the Tableeghi Jamaat as well during his trip to the college.

Speaking about his life as a cricketer, Afridi said at one point during his career, he thought about leaving the sport as certain captains wanted to end his career.

US launches drone attack, killing ‘ISIS-K planner’ in Afghanistan

The United States announced it carried out a drone attack in eastern Afghanistan against a “planner” of an Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant- Khorasan (ISIL/ISIS-K) group, after the attack outside Kabul’s airport that killed at least 175 Afghans and 13 US troops.

“US military forces conducted an over-the-horizon counterterrorism operation today against an ISIS-K planner,” Captain Bill Urban, spokesperson for the US Central Command, said in a statement.

“The unmanned airstrike occurred in the Nangarhar province of Afghanistan. Initial indications are that we killed the target. We know of no civilian casualties,” read the statement.

The announcement did not identify the targeted individual but indicated that this could be the first of many counter-attack at the ISIS-K targets for Thursday’s terrorist attacks at the Kabul airport.

The ISIS group had claimed responsibility for the attack, the group’s Amaq News Agency said on its Telegram channel.

US President Joe Biden vowed to retaliate against Thursday’s attack in Kabul, saying that he will hunt down those responsible and make them pay.

Biden confirmed in a speech from the White House that the bombings were carried out by the Islamic State in Khorasan Province, ISKP (ISIS-K), ISIL’s affiliate in Afghanistan.

“To those who carried out this attack, as well as anyone who wishes America harm, know this: We will not forgive; we will not forget,” Biden said.

“We will hunt you down and make you pay. I will defend our interests in our people with every measure at my command.”
