Aamir Khan’s team denies littering village while shooting ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’

After coming under fire for allegedly littering in Ladakh while shooting Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir Khan’s production house has issued an official statement debunking the allegations.

In a statement released on Aamir Khan Productions’ (AKP) official Instagram handle, the makers of the film stated that none of the accusations against the actor and his crew are true and that they are taking utmost care about keeping the environment clean.

The statement read, “To whomsoever, it may concern, AKP would like to clarify that as a company we follow strict protocols for cleanliness in and around our shooting spaces. We have a team that makes sure that the location is kept trash-free at all times. At the end of the day, there`s a recheck of the entire location. At the end of the entire schedule, we make sure that when we leave a location, we leave it as clean or cleaner than we found it.”

“We believe that there are some rumours/allegations about our location not being kept clean. We strongly deny such claims. Our location is always open to relevant local authorities to carry out checks anytime they like,” concluded the statement released by Khan’s production house.

A social media user by the username Jigmat Ladakhi had earlier shared a video on Twitter, showing the entire area littered with used plastic bottles. He criticised the “gift” Khan’s film had “left for the villagers of Wakha in Ladakh”.

He even pointed out that the actor propounds environmental cleanliness on his social awareness show Satyamev Jayate. The user wrote, “This is the gift Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s upcoming movie Laal Singh Chaddha has left for the villagers of Wakha in Ladakh. Aamir Khan himself talks big about environmental cleanliness at Satyamev Jayate but this is what happens when it comes to himself.” The film reunites Aamir and Kareena Kapoor Khan, who last worked together in 3 Idiots.

Meanwhile, it was reported earlier that Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan will also appear in cameo roles in the upcoming film. Being the most anticipated release of this year, the movie is slated to hit the big screens at Christmas.

The shoot of the film was halted in March as the main lead, Aamir, got infected with Covid-19. After his recovery and control of the second wave in India, the shoot has started again.

  • Here’s everything you need to know about the Delta variant

At least 40 cases of the Delta variant — a highly virulent Covid-19 strain — have been recorded in the country in the last few days. Heath experts also suspect the presence of the Delta variant in Lahore.

With increasing number of cases of this deadly variant, here is everything you need to know about the Delta variant.

    What is the Delta variant?

The Delta variant, also known as B.1.617.2, can spread more easily, according to Web MD. The strain has mutations on the spike protein that make it easier for it to infect human cells, which means people may be more contagious if they contract the virus and spread it more easily to others.

    Why should we be worried?

As per the New York Times, Delta variant is believed to be the most transmissible variant yet, and it can cause more severe illness. One study found that people infected by the Delta variant were roughly twice as likely to be hospitalised as those infected with the Alpha Variant.

Does vaccines work against Delta variant?

Data suggests that several widely used shots — including those made by Pfizer, BioNtech, Moderna, Johnson and Johnson and AstraZenca — appear to retain most of their effectiveness against Delta.

How does the Delta Variant spread more rapidly inside the body?

A recent study explains why the Delta variant grows more rapidly in the body. Delta variant grows more rapidly inside people’s respiratory tracts and to much higher levels, researchers at the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported.

On average, people infected with the delta variant had about 1,000 times more copies of the virus in their respiratory tracts than those infected with the original strain of the coronavirus, the study reported.

After someone catches the Delta variant, the person likely becomes infectious sooner. On average, it took about four days for the Delta variant to reach detectable levels inside a person, compared to six days for the original coronavirus variant.

In the past 24 hours, Pakistan has recorded 2,327 cases of Covid-19 with a positivity rate of 6.1 per cent.

His family says that initially, Purkharam slept for over 7 to 8 days at a go but the symptoms worsened as time passed. Now he sleeps for 20 to 25 days in one go.

He was diagnosed with this rare condition 23 years ago, which has affected his life in such a way that his family members have to bathe and feed him while he is asleep.

Axis Hypersomnia can be described as a chronic neurological sleep disorder that leads to daytime sleepiness and/or long sleep hours (more than 9-10 hours in 24-hours).

PM Khan assures Chinese counterpart about thorough investigation in Dasu incident

Prime Minister Imran Khan has assured Chinese Premier Li Keqiang of making every effort into the Dasu bus incident, in which 12 people were killed, including nine Chinese nationals, reports Geo News.

In a telephonic conversation, PM Khan offered his condolences over the death of the Chinese nationals.

“All efforts will be made to investigate the incident,” PM said.

He further added that the security and protection of Chinese citizens in Pakistan is the government’s top priority.

Beijing, meanwhile, reacted sharply to the incident by postponing a meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) scheduled for Friday. The meeting was to be held through a video link, reported Dawn.

CPEC Authority Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Asim Bajwa announced the postponement of the meeting on Twitter. “JCC-10 meeting on #CPEC which was scheduled to be held on 16th July 21, has been postponed to a later date after Eid. The fresh date will be shared as finalized. Meanwhile, preparations continue,” he said.

On Thursday, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry took to Twitter and said, “Initial investigations into Dassu incident have now confirmed traces of explosives, terrorism cannot be ruled out,” contradicting the statement by his party’s Foreign Minister.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan is personally supervising all developments, in this regard Govt is in close coordination with the Chinese embassy we are committed to fighting the menace of terrorism together,” tweeted Fawad.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, on behalf of the government and the people of Pakistan, had expressed sincere condolences to the Chinese side over the heavy Chinese casualties. He said that the preliminary investigation shows that the incident was “an accident and no background of terrorist attacks has been found”.

  • ‘What’ve we won before or after 2017 CT?’: Kamran Akmal slams Pakistan’s cricketing policies after whitewash by England

‘What’ve we won before or after 2017 CT?’: Kamran Akmal slams Pakistan’s cricketing policies after whitewash by England

Wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal has slammed the former coaches for the present scenario of the Pakistan cricket team. His statement came after Babar Azam-led Pakistan was whitewashed after losing the last match to England by 7 wickets.

Ben Stokes-led England, which featured mostly inexperienced players as the regulars were isolated due to the Covid-19 outbreak, trashed the visiting party in all the three ODIs. After the humiliating series loss, the Pakistan team has been receiving flak from several former cricketers of the country for getting hammered by a second-string team.

In a conversation with paktv.tv, Akmal heaped praise on England’s cricketing system for setting up an example of how to form a team in adverse conditions.

“The biggest plus point of England cricket is their system. The players they selected for the series didn’t show a single sign of nervousness, neither did they hit the panic button. They didn’t even complain about the absence of regulars who were in isolation, because they have that kind of confidence,” Akmal said.

“All the players have played in domestic cricket hence; they handled the pressure well and played with planning. They passed a message to the world how a cricket team should be made and what should be the selection criteria,” he added.

Akmal further pointed out that the damage was done to the team during the tenure of former coaches and the same old policies of the governing body has hampered Pakistan’s cricketing environment.

“If you have two coaches of similar types, then that will cause problems. Coaches have the biggest role in constituting a team. Did the last two Pakistan coaches improve the team? They started all this and now the current management is facing flak.

“The players need to play cricket more and more. They need to spend more time on the ground. They need to focus on every format but unfortunately, T20 is getting more attention. Their lies the problem,” Akmal said.

“Vicky Bhai [Waqar Younis] was the head coach earlier and then there was Mickey Arthur. What have we won after or before the 2017 Champions Trophy? We were number one in T20Is and in Tests just for a month. But what about India who has been on the top for five years?” he added.

Pakistan will take on England in a three-match T20I series starting from today (Friday).
