Good morning, *|MERGE1|*, It’s May 20. Today, I came across a heartbreaking video of a traumatized Palestinian child, unable to close his eyes due to the fear of bombing. The video will haunt me forever. The children of Gaza do not deserve what is happening to them. Unarmed civilians do not deserve to go to sleep, thinking they might not wake up. No human deserves the mental trauma which Palestinians are going through. All we can do is raise our voices..

The weather today will be sunny.

  • Diana was tricked into giving explosive interview on marriage, reveals inquiry

Diana was tricked into giving explosive interview on marriage, reveals inquiry

Journalist Martin Bashir tricked princess Diana into giving an explosive BBC television interview in which she lifted the lid on her troubled marriage to Prince Charles, an independent investigation concluded on Thursday.

Read more – Prince William welcomes new investigation into Diana’s explosive BBC interview

Retired senior judge John Dyson said Bashir commissioned faked bank statements that falsely suggested some of Diana’s closest aides were being paid by the security services to keep tabs on her.

Bashir then showed them to Diana’s brother Charles Spencer, in a successful bid to convince him to arrange a meeting between himself and Diana and earn her trust.

Dyson said he was “satisfied” that Bashir showed fake bank statements “so as to deceive Earl Spencer and induce him to arrange the meeting with Princess Diana”.

“By behaving as described… Mr Bashir acted inappropriately and in serious breach” of the corporation’s own editorial guidelines on “straight dealing”, Dyson added.

Questions have long been asked about how Bashir convinced Diana to talk on the BBC’s flagship Panorama programme in November 1995, which was watched by a record 22.8 million people and won a string of television awards.

In it, she famously said, “there were three people” in her marriage — her, Charles and his long-time mistress and now wife, Camilla Parker-Bowles — and also admitted adultery.

Diana’s friend, Simone Simmons, told The Sun that the interview had “destroyed her pyschologically” and “made her paranoid”.

Bashir, now 58, was little-known at the time of the interview but went on to have a high-profile career on US television networks, and interviewed stars such as Michael Jackson.

He returned to work for the corporation as religion editor until he stepped down last week, citing ill health, just hours before Dyson’s report was submitted to BBC bosses.

Earlier, a 1996 internal inquiry by future BBC chief Tony Hall and another senior figure, Anne Sloman, cleared Bashir of wrong-doing.

But Dyson called that probe “flawed and woefully ineffective”.

Hall, now chair of the board of trustees at Britain’s National Gallery, admitted that the probe “fell well short of what was required”, and said he was “wrong to give Martin Bashir the benefit of the doubt”.

Meanwhile, BBC director-general Tim Davie said the corporation accepted Dyson’s findings completely and offered a “full and unconditional apology”.

The broadcaster also said it was handing back the awards the programme won for the interview.

Bashir also apologised, saying the faking of the bank statements was “a stupid thing do and was an action I deeply regret”.

But he maintained it had “no bearing whatsoever on the personal choice by Princess Diana to take part”, and he was still “immensely proud” of the interview.

Davie equally said the princess was “keen on the idea of an interview with the BBC”. Her estranged husband had spoken to commercial channel ITV in 1994, and also admitted adultery.

However, he added that “the BBC should have made greater effort to get to the bottom of what happened at the time and been more transparent about what it knew.”

Diana and Charles formally divorced in 1996. She died aged 36 in a high-speed car crash while being chased by paparazzi photographers in Paris the following year. Charles married Camilla in 2005.

  • Barack Obama reveals that UFOs exist

Barack Obama reveals that UFOs exist

Former U.S. President, Barack Obama, confessed that there are plenty of ‘footages and records’ of ‘unknown objects in the skies that people are trying to investigate’.

Obama, 59, made a recent appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden where he revealed that the US military has often been troubled due to the possibility of existence of UFOs with ultra-speed. He admitted seeing videos of UFOs harassing military targets and refused to comment further on the topic after saying that there are some things he refrains from disclosing ‘on air’.

‘What is true… is that there’s footage and records of objects in the skies that we don’t know exactly what they are,’ he told James Corden, ‘we can’t explain how they moved, their trajectory… they did not have an easily explainable pattern. So I think that people still take seriously trying to investigate and figure out what that is. But I have nothing to report to you today.’

Like everyone else, Obama was ‘curious’ about the rumours regarding U.S. government’s confidential records and labs about alien specimens. “Look, the truth is that when I came into office I asked. I was like, ‘all right, is there the lab somewhere where we’re keeping the alien specimens and spaceships?’” he said, ‘They did a little bit of research…. and the answer was no.’

There has been quite a talk about UFOs lately due to a video of U.S. stealth ship being buzzed by a UFO going viral. The 2019 video shows the UFO immersing into the water near San Diego.

Former US Navy Lieutenant (2015-2017), Ryan Graves, told the CBC’s 60 Minutes that Virginian pilots often spotted flying objects in restricted airspace.

“We’re not willing to actually look at the problem in the face. We’re happy to just ignore the fact that these are out there, watching us every day,” warned Graves.

Sania Mirza seeks help from Indian sports ministry for son’s UK visa

Indian tennis star Sania Mirza has sought help from the Indian Sports Ministry after her son, Izhaan Mirza-Malik, was denied a visa by United Kingdom (UK) authorities.

Mirza, who will be playing a couple of tournaments in the coming days in the UK, has been facing a dilemma after her two-year-old son and his caretaker were denied a visa, owing to travel restrictions imposed by the UK on Indian nationals.

The tennis sensation is scheduled to compete in the Nottingham Open (from June 6), Birmingham Open (from June 14), the Eastbourne Open (from June 20) and the Wimbledon (from June 28).

The sports ministry said it was approached by Mirza, who said she could not leave a two-year-old child behind to take part in a month-long tournament.

“Sania, who is a part of the Sports Ministry’s Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), approached the Ministry requesting help with the visa of her son and his caretaker. Sania stated that she cannot leave a two-year-old child behind as she travels for a month,” said the ministry in a statement.

The ministry said it dispatched a letter to the Ministry of External Affairs in India, asking it to take the matter up on an urgent basis with the UK authorities through the Indian embassy in London.

“The request was immediately taken up by the Sports Ministry and a letter has already been sent to MEA requesting them to take up the matter in the UK through the Indian Embassy in London,” stated the Indian ministry.

Indian Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju expressed the hope that the UK will allow Mirza to travel with her child.

Rijiju, in a statement, said, “I have approved the request and Sports Ministry officials have initiated the process with the MEA. We are hopeful that the UK Government will see merit in this case and allow the child to travel with Sania.”

“This is one such time when emotions have resonated and people are coming together and leaving aside borders and whatever the political scenario might have been, one or two years back,” he added.

“Except for cricket, we have friendship and I just hope that friendship is kept alive and maintained,” he said while talking about the relationship between both countries.

He continued by saying, “Today, the obstacles are more; I hope some obstacles get eradicated. I can just hope and pray that the distance and vacuum that has been created go away and we are able to co-exist in peace.”

Kanwal Shauzab’s speech went viral on social media with many people criticising her for her anti-semitic comments.

Zarrar Khuhro, who hosts a show on Dawn News TV, also explained discussed Kanwal’s speech, discussing how the actions of a man who conducted a mass genocide should not be used in a ‘positive way’.

In her speech, Kanwal said that Adolf Hitler had said that, “I spared some Jews to let the world know why I killed them,” but Zarrar pointed out that the quote was wrongly attributed to Hitler.

  • Maryam Nawaz: the next Prime Minister?

In a programme on ARY News, ‘The Reporters’, journalist Sabir Shakir said that PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz will succeed PM Imran Khan as Pakistan’s next prime minister.

“She [Maryam Nawaz] will become the next prime minister, in my opinion,” he said.

“She can,” agreed Chaudhry Ghulam Hussain, another senior journalist who has critised PML-N in the past and has spoken in favour of PM Imran Khan over the years.

Shakir said there will be a ‘break’ in the prime minister’s term, stating that he will lose the next general elections.

“This is his first innings, he is learning how to play,” said Shakir. “Hence, he will lose first and will then emerge again stronger the next time,” he added.

Another senior journalist, Arif Hameed Bhatti, said this was PM Imran Khan’s “first and last innings” as the prime minister of the country, adding that Maryam Nawaz can become the country’s next premier.

Journalist Sami Ibrahim said that ‘politics demands performance’ and that giving lectures like Ibn Khaldun was of no use until rulers did not have any realization of the hardships that masses were facing

Prominent journalists, who have been known for their pro-Imran Khan views over the past couple of years, think the prime minister will not be able to win the next general elections, making Maryam Nawaz a popular choice for Prime Minister.
