    Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan to be honoured with a museum, music institute

    A museum and music institute will be set up in Faisalabad in memory of late musical legend Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

    Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, while speaking to a local media outlet, said that the building, which will be constructed in his hometown Faisalabad, will take three to four months to be completed.

    Rahat added that the building will serve as a music academy and a museum.

    Khan, popularly referred to as the ‘King of Qawwali’ died at the age of 48 on August 16, 1997 leaving a legacy of over 125 albums.

    Nusrat was born on October 13, 1948 in Faisalabad and hailed from a family of qawwals.

    The great musical legend had his first public performance at the age of 16, at his father’s chehlum and went on to gather world renown with his unmatched voice and musical credentials.

    Popularly known as Shahenshah-e-Qawwali meaning ‘The King of Qawwali’, Nusrat is widely credited with introducing qawwali music to international audiences.

    During his lifetime, Nusrat collaborated with several foreign artists, including Eddie Vedder, Peter Gabriel, Jeff Buckley, Michael Brook. He was also included in the Guinness Book of World Records.

    Most of Nusrat’s songs including, Allah Hoo Allah Hoo and Yeh Jo Halka Halka Suroor Hai have been remixed and produced again. However, his vocals remain unmatched.

    Ahsan Khan, who is hosting a Ramzan Transmission on Pakistan Television (PTV), was in for a surprise when a caller on his show turned out to be his mother. The actor’s mother surprised him with a call on Mother’s Day.

    In the video that is doing the rounds on social media, Ahsan instantly recognises his mother’s voice when she spoke and greeted him. She did not even have to introduce herself.

    During the call, Khan’s mother sending prayers to everyone on set and those watching despite Ahsan’s pleas for her to stop. His co-host Rabia Anum also greeted her as it was Mother’s Day and recalled an incident when she had a lovely conversation with the actor’s mother on a flight from Karachi to Lahore.

    Israelis dance as third holiest mosque attacked

    Israelis were seen dancing and singing in front of the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem while a fire blazed on.

    More than twenty people including nine children and a Hamas commander were killed in Gaza Strip overnight – making it one of the bloodiest days of fighting in several years.

    While Israel continues to bomb Gaza and kill childern, this bloodbath has been the reality of Palestinians under apartheid.

    The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned escalating Israeli aggression and attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque. The meeting of the OIC Permanent Representatives was convened upon the request of the State of Palestine. During the meeting, Pakistan’s permanent representative at the UN also strongly condemned the Israeli aggression.

    Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday strongly condemned the attack on innocent Palestinians by the Israeli forces during the month of Ramzan.

    Last month Human Rights Watch (HRW) released a report on how Israel is an apartheid state.

    The report says: International criminal law has developed two crimes against humanity for situations of systematic discrimination and repression: apartheid and persecution. Crimes against humanity stand among the most odious crimes in international law.

    Tensions in Jerusalem have flared since Israeli riot police attacked Palestinian worshippers on the last Friday of Ramazan in the city’s worst disturbances since 2017.

    Nightly unrest since then at the Al-Aqsa compound has left hundreds of Palestinians wounded, drawing international calls for de-escalation and sharp rebukes from across the Muslim world. Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site of Islam.

    A 19-year-old Pakistani, Shehroze Kashif has become the youngest person to summit the world’s highest mountain above sea level, Mount Everest.

    As per reports, Kashif hoisted the Pakistani flag on an 8,849-metre high mountain peak. He climbed Mount Everest at 5:05 am this morning.

    Kashif is the fifth Pakistani to summit the peak and has also won the title of the world’s youngest climber.

    Earlier, Kashif has also climbed Broad Peak before which is the world’s 12th highest mountain with 8,051 metre high.

    People including celebrities on social media are celebrating his achievement.

    PM’s surprise visit to PIMS Hospital’s Covid ward

    Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday night paid a surprise visit to the coronavirus ward of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad, to review the conditions there. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Khan met with the patients and inquired about their health.

    The premier particularly inquired about the facilities being provided to COVID-19 patients at the hospital, particularly the availability of oxygen and medicines.

    Addressing the staff at the hospital, the PM said that since healthcare workers are the country’s frontline fighters, they should also take care of themselves apart from taking care of the patients.

    The premier also inquired from doctors and the staff if all of them have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

    He said that the third wave of the coronavirus is more lethal than the previous two ones, adding that people should follow the SOPs to protect themselves from the virus

    The virus has so far claimed 19,106 lives in Pakistan, while the number of total cases in the country has reached 864,557.

    Feroze Khan has expressed disappointment over those judging Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to Saudi Arabia. Feroze’s comments came after Chairman People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari criticised the premier for asking for loans from other countires.

    “I feel sad for those judging [PM] Imran Khan’s visit to Mecca and Medina” said Feroze.

    PM Imran recently went on a three-day tour to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia .Speaking about PM’s recent trip to Saudi Arabia, Bilawal said it was unfortunate how the same prime minister, who used to talk about not obtaining loans from other countries, was carrying the “begging bowl” with him everywhere in the world.

    Meanwhile, during, the official visit, the premier performed Umrah in Mecca, along with his wife Bushra Bibi.

    Pictures of PM Imran publicly expressing his affection for his wife went viral on social media and while some adored the pictures, some took it as an opportunity to raise baseless criticism over the public display of affection.

    PM Imran was warmly welcomed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his three-day visit. The Saudi Crown Prince is now expected to visit Pakistan after Eid.

    Vasay Chaudhry has subtly mocked the Ruet-e-Hilal committee over their Eid announcement process.

    Responding to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ARY Digital Network Jerjees (JJ) Seja, who questioned why the committee needs a prolonged live press conference, Chaudhry said: “JJ bhai. Some people get to be on TV just twice a year and only for 30 minutes each.”

    “Not everyone is as lucky as Badami,” he added cheekily. “So let them have some limelight as well yaar.”

    Later, replying to Vasay’s comments, Seja said: “Then some people should start doing what Waseem Badami does and limelight will automatically be their way.”

    “Till then please footage zaya na karein,” he added.

    Badami, who is currently hosting Shaan-e-Ramzan on ARY Digital, is one of Pakistan’s most renowned television hosts.

    Meanwhile, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan is the department which announces the sighting of the new moon and Eid, twice a year.

    It’s head is now Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad assisted by 150 observatories of the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

Responding to a question by senior anchorperson Asma Shiraz, Mahmood said: “The kind of language these children are using on Twitter, I think it is a collective failure of the government, teachers and parents.     Babar Azam makes history, sweeps Zimbabwe Test series

    Babar Azam has become the first Pakistan captain to win his first four Tests as skipper as they swept the series against Zimbabwe 2-0 in Harare Sports Club on Monday.

    Azam lauded his players after they completed a successful southern Africa tour with a second straight innings victory over Zimbabwe then looked ahead to his team’s planned tour of the West Indies in July.

    It took Pakistan five overs to take the remaining Zimbabwe wicket to seal a win by an innings and 147 runs on the fourth day of the second Test. With the win, Azam also became the first Pakistan captain to win his first four Tests as skipper.

    Shaheen Shah Afridi had Luke Jongwe caught behind for 37 to complete a five-wicket haul. He took five for 52.

    Speaking at the post-match presentation, Babar said his players had shown character and he was particularly pleased with the performance of the batsmen, especially man-of-the-match Abid Ali, who scored 215 not out in Pakistan’s only innings.

    Abid, with his unbeaten double ton, received the Player of the Match award.

    Hassan Ali bagged Player of the Series award, after taking 14 wickets at an average of just 8.92.

    “The partnership between Abid and Azhar Ali was crucial,” he said. Azhar scored 126 in a second-wicket stand of 236.

    “The confidence of our batsmen will be high and we have an important series in the West Indies coming up,” said Babar.

    Meanwhile, Azam has been declared Player of the Month by the International Cricket Council (ICC) following his stunning performance in the ODI series against South Africa.

    Pakistan is due to play three Tests and three T20 Internationals (T20Is) in the Caribbean.
