Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal offers financial support to juice seller boy who topped in matric

A 16-year-old juice seller from Multan, Muhammad Huzaifa topped in his matriculation exam scoring 1050 marks out of 1100 last year.

Huzaifa is the only breadwinner of his family and had to work as a fruit juice seller to take care of his family. Reportedly, the boy was offered a scholarship at a private college but he could not leave his job at the time.

People on social media cannot stop praising Huzaifa for his efforts and hard work.

After the post went viral on social media, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal reached out to the boy and offered him financial support for his higher education and his family.

Managing Director of Bait-ul-Mal, Aon Abbas Buppi took to Twitter to announce that they would financially support the boy and his family so Pakistan doesn’t lose this bright student.

    Imran’s aides succumb to criticism

While Tania Aidrus has resigned amid criticism for holding dual nationality, Dr Zafar Mirza has stepped down over ‘negative discussion about the role of SAPMs’

Dr Zafar Mirza and Tania Aidrus, special assistants to the prime minister (SAPM) on health and e-governance, respectively, stepped down from their posts on Wednesday.

The resignations come days after the Cabinet Division made public the details of the assets and dual nationalities of 20 advisers and special assistants, rocking the country’s political landscape.

In a tweet, Aidrus, the head of the much-touted Digital Pakistan Vision initiative, cited recent criticism levelled against her and the government due to her dual nationality as the reason behind her decision to resign.

“[The] criticism levied towards the state as a consequence of my citizenship status is clouding the purpose of Digital Pakistan,” she said, adding that she was resigning “in the greater public interest”.

In the resignation letter, Aidrus stated that she had returned to Pakistan with the “singular intent to contribute and develop the vision of a Digital Pakistan”.

“I always was and shall be a Pakistani,” she wrote, adding that “it is unfortunate that a Pakistani’s desire to serve Pakistan is clouded by such [dual nationality] issues”.

While the letter points to criticism on Aidrus’ foreign nationality being the chief reason for her resignation, reports say that the former Google executive was in fact forced to resign.

Meanwhile, Mirza also took to Twitter to announce stepping down.

He said that he had come to Pakistan on the personal invitation of the premier after leaving the World Health Organization (WHO).

“I worked hard and honestly. It was a privilege to serve Pakistan. I am satisfied that I leave at a time when COVID-19 has declined in Pakistan as a result of a grand national effort,” Mirza said.

He added that he had made the decision over the “negative discussion about the role of SAPMs and criticism of the government”.

“Pakistani people deserve better healthcare. I have worked sincerely to contribute to this cause. Pakistan will Inshallah emerge out of COVID-19 with a stronger healthcare system.”

While PM Imran has not yet accepted the resignations, rumour has it that another aide of his will shortly be resigning.

  • Everything we know about Tania Aidrus’s resignation

Everything we know about Tania Aidrus’s resignation

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Digital Pakistan Tania Aidrus has resigned from her post amid growing criticism for holding dual citizenship.

“Growing criticism is a distraction to my ability to execute on the long-term vision for a Digital Pakistan. It is unfortunate that a Pakistani’s desire to serve Pakistan is clouded by such issues,” said Tania, who holds Canadian and Singaporean nationality, in her resignation letter.

Furthermore, she stated that her Canadian nationality was a consequence of her birth and “not an acquisition of choice”.

    TANIA & TAREEN:

According to media reports, appointments of Tania and Khurram Jamali, who formerly worked under Tania at Google, was facilitated by Jahangir Khan Tareen.

In April 2020 when the sugar scandal rose its ugly head and a subsequent probe into it led to the damning report that said Tareen prioritised his sugar mills over national interest, PM Imran Khan was disillusioned.

This led to a rift between the premier and Tareen, who, according to reports, are no longer on talking terms.

While Tareen has left the country for the time being and does not hold any direct or indirect power in the government, people cannot help drawing links between the rift and Tania’s resignation.

DIGITAL PAKISTAN INITIATIVE AND DIGITAL PAKISTAN FOUNDATION CONFLICT:

Despite the existence of Digital Pakistan Initiative, Tania formed a nonprofit organisation called Digital Pakistan Foundation to attract foreign expatriates and talent to facilitate the digitisation process in Pakistan.

According to Tania, the government’s Digital Pakistan Initiative had no Federal Budget assigned to it, neither was it under the ambit of the Ministry of Information Technology (IT) or Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), leaving it stalled and dry.

However, reports say, Shabahat Ali Shah, the chief executive officer (CEO) of the National IT Board (NITB), and Tania were not getting along well since day one.

Both Shah and Tania were working for the IT Ministry and there had been an overlap of their work, leading to turf wars.

Taking advantage of Tania’s vulnerability, Shah allegedly want her sacked as the SAPM. To that end, the Digital Pakistan Foundation scandal was reportedly intentionally hyped up and leaked to a journalist, whose thread about the scandal was later picked up by various media outlets.

Meanwhile, Tania says she will continue serving in Pakistan through public and private initiatives and will always be available for the cause of ‘Naya Pakistan’.

KYA BOLA? (Jul 29): ‘Bilawal k jawaan kandhay’ to ‘Coronavirus k khilaf Allah ki ghayebi maddad’

Following are some snippets that stood out from Urdu newspapers on July 29, 2020, which The Current takes no responsibility for.

    ‘Bilawal k jawaan kandhay’

It has been reported by Daily Jang that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chief Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, in a press conference with opposition bigwig Shehbaz Sharif, said,“Ab Shehbaz Sharif tandrust hain aur hukoomat mukhalif tehreek ki inqalabi qiyadat krnay k liye tayaar hain.” Shehbaz, in response to this, said, “Bilawal k jawaan kandho par zimadari dali hai… yeh humein lead karein ge.”

While opposition alliance is once again gearing to get rid of the government, many believe this attempt too wouldn’t be successful for the PPP and the Pakistan Muslims League-Nawaz (PML-N) won’t be able to work together.

    ‘Ab kya gul khilayga?’

According to Daily Jang, Punjab Information Minister Punjab Fayazul Hasan Chohan has termed the meeting between Shehbaz and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazulur Rehman as the between “political orphans”. “Sindh mein Maulana ki Asif Ali Zardari aur Bilawal se mulaqaat ka chand Ziaur Rehman ki bataur deputy commissioner tayinaati ki surat mein charrha tha… ab dekhein Maulana ki Shehbaz se maulaqaat kia gul khilati hai.”

Fazl’s brother had been appointed the deputy commissioner of Karachi’s District Central despite not being a qualified CSS officer. Amid severe backlash and criticism, the federal government on Monday approved a letter by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government requesting the repatriation of his services back to the province.

‘Coronavirus k khilaf Allah ki ghayebi maddad’

Daily Dunya has quoted the Corona Expert Advisory Group as saying that, “Corona cases aur amwaat mein kami Allah ki ghayebi maddad hai kyun k kami ki hatmi waja samnay nahi aa saki.”

The statement comes as both COVID-19 cases and deaths in Pakistan continue to drop over the past three weeks. While some are praising the government for its efforts aimed at curbing the outbreak, others believe lower testing and people choosing to stay back home is the actual reason.

Teenage boy, friends allegedly gang rape kitten in Lahore

A kitten died after a 15-year-old boy along with his friends allegedly gang-raped it repeatedly for over a week.

According to a viral social media post by an animal shelter, which has also widely been shared by other animal organisations and the general public, the kitten was adopted by the family of the boy who abused it many times until she died after suffering from crushed internal organs.

The posts revealed that the kitten couldn’t sit, walk, eat or sleep due to the pain and trauma. “The culprits used shopping bags for the act which were left inside the poor cat,” the posts claimed.

The vet confirmed that the cat was abused but refused to write it on paper to avoid involvement in the case.

Upon inquiry, one of the culprits’ mother refuted the allegations and said, “My son hasn’t done this.”

Meanwhile, the incident has sparked outrage and many people, including celebrities and journalists, have strongly condemned the incident, urging the authorities concerned to take action against the culprits.

Salma had said she considered Javeria as her daughter and worked in the couple’s production house for years. However, they treated her badly and refused to pay her her dues.

“When I sent a message to Javeria asking for my money of ten million rupees (Rs 1 crore) she blocked me”, said the actor.

Later, actor Sherry Shah also came forward and levelled the same accusations against Javeria and Saud. In a video posted to social media, Shah says that JJS Productions owes her approximately Rs 90 lakhs. She said that she had been a part of JJS Production’s projects for many years and had done two projects with them.

“I saw Salma Zafar’s video and I can completely understand her pain because I went through the same ordeal,” says Shah, adding that it is time to share the truth. She also said that she has sent an official legal notice to the production house through her lawyer.

“During this time period of six to seven years, I suffered a lot,” stated Shah. “My hard-earned money which was very important to me was not given. I am not saying that I have entirely been not paid, they have given me small amounts and the highest I remember they paid me was 3.5 lacs [and] they owe me almost 1 crore,” she said.

“We didn’t even sign a contract because you were my friend, Saud Bhai,” said Shah. “We had a brother and sister relation, but was I only your sister till the time I quietly worked for you? Did the relationship end the moment I demanded my money?”

Shah requested Saud to clear his dues and close the chapter gracefully.

Churails is the first of five original Pakistani web series expected to stream on the Indian platform.
