Hamza Ali Abbasi to reportedly direct a patriotic film

What is Hamza Ali Abbasi really upto? The actor told the world that he is quitting the entertainment industry to follow his spiritual journey, but his friends are saying that he will soon directing a film.

In a recent interview, Hamza’s close friend and colleague, Humayun Saeed revealed that the former actor will be donning the director’s hat and will be directing a patriotic film.

“Hamza was thinking about becoming a scholar for a quite some time and had started studying to be one,” Humayun said, adding, “Actually he has decided to leave showbiz for a certain period of time. In future, he would do characters that are more towards patriotism and spirituality.”

“Besides, he is coming into direction. I have planned a film on the subject of nationalism which will be directed by Hamza. Everything is almost done except deciding the name of project,” he shared further.

In November 2019, Hamza had announced that he will be quitting acting to focus on religion, his relationship with Allah and to spread the message of Islam.

“I had this divine revelation some time back, that all that I am doing in this world will end the moment I die. All these trophies, all these accolades will not bring me any good on the day of judgment when I meet my Maker. I have decided that I want to leave everything that might be a hurdle when it comes to making my matters easier on the day of Judgment.”

At the same time, Hamza had said that though he will be quitting acting, he will continue to make videos and use his voice and popularity to spread the message of Islam and inspire others to undertake this spiritual journey.

“My perspective of life has changed since I realised that I have to meet my God. With this realisation, what I decided to do is that I now wish to talk to people. I wish to spread the message.”

Hamza had asserted that making movies is not haraam, adding that he might even consider making movies that are not vulgar and propagate the message of peace and patriotism.

And looks like the actor is doing just that.

Meanwhile, when Hamza had announced his decision, Humayun had sent best wishes his way.

  • Abrar ul Haq’s new song ft. Mehwish Hayat is very ‘chamkeeli’

Who needs Bollywood dance songs when we’ve got Abrarul Haq. After Billo, Abrar has given us another wedding jam, though to be honest, it doesn’t quite match up. But then again, Billo is iconic.

Abrar’s latest song Chamkeeli featuring Mehwish Hayat and Shahveer Jafry as the bride and groom on their wedding day is fun, lively and gives out energetic happy vibes.

Chamkeeli is picturised on a strong, empowered woman, played by Mehwish who knows what she wants on her wedding day. Mehwish looks every bit the rockstar bride in a bright, red gharara and sunglasses in some of the shots. Shahveer plays the shy groom.

Some fans speculated that the video shows an older woman marrying a younger boy and praised Abrar for choosing a progressive topic as the backdrop of his video.

And what’s even more interesting is that Mehwish has also sung a few lines of the song.

Finland’s Sanna Marin to become world’s youngest sitting prime minister

Finland’s 34-year-old transportation minister Sanna Marin, has been selected as the country’s prime minister (PM) on Dec 08, making her the youngest leader in the world to ever hold the PM’s job, Quartz reported.

According to the details, Marin will be taking over from former PM Antii Rinne, who resigned from the position last week after just six months on the job, following controversy over his handling of a postal strike.

Like Rinne, Marin is also a member of the Social Democratic Party, the largest in Finland’s five-member ruling coalition. Finland’s other four parties are also led by women, three of whom are under 35 years old.

Rinne resigned on Tuesday after the Centre Party, said it had lost confidence in him following his handling of a postal strike.

Reports claim that Marin will continue an agenda to reduce carbon emissions, and after winning a narrow party vote against SDP parliamentary group leader Antti Lindtman, Marin told reporters that “We have a lot of work ahead to rebuild trust.”

Marin has had a swift rise in Finnish politics since becoming head of the city council of her industrial hometown of Tampere at the age of 27.

She will take over in the middle of a 3-day wave of strikes, which will halt production at some of Finland’s largest companies from Monday. The Confederation of Finnish Industries estimates the strikes will cost the companies a combined 500 million euros ($550 million) in lost revenue.

  • Man eats $120,000 piece of art

Man eats $120,000 piece of art

The world truly has gone bananas.

A performance artist shook up the crowd at the Art Basel show in Miami Beach on Saturday when he grabbed a banana that had been duct-taped to a gallery wall and ate it.

What’s interesting is that the banana was, in fact, a work of art by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan titled “Comedian” and sold to a French collector for $120,000.

In a video posted on his Instagram account, David Datuna, who describes himself as a Georgian-born American artist living in New York, walks up to the banana and pulls it off the wall with the duct tape attached.

“Art performance … hungry artist,” he said, as he peeled the fruit and took a bite. “Thank you, very good.”

Datuna’s action left some bystanders in fits. Soon after, a flustered gallery official took him in for custody. Luckily the matter was resolved amicably and no legal action was planned against him.

As it turns out, the value of the work is in the certificate of authenticity – the banana is meant to be replaced.

A replacement banana was taped to the wall about 15 minutes after Datuna’s stunt.

Meanwhile, here’s what Mehwish Hayat has to say on the matter.

  • Bride marries neighbour after groom arrives late

Bride marries neighbour after groom arrives late

Uh-ho, tardy men beware. An Indian bride replaced her groom when the man she was supposed to marry turned up late to his own wedding.

According to a report in the Times of India, a bride from Bijnor’s Nangaljat village married a man from her neighbourhood after her groom and the baraatis arrived late for the wedding. Not only that, the groom’s family was locked up and allegedly thrashed by the bride’s family, who also stole their valuables.

The police revealed that this was supposed to be the couple’s “proper” wedding ceremony – they had tied the knot in a mass wedding programme six weeks earlier. At that time, the bride had not gone to her in-laws’ house because the couple wanted to get married again with “proper rituals”.

The drama doesn’t stop there – the two families reportedly also had their differences over the dowry as well. The bride’s family claimed the groom and his father had demanded a bike and cash and threatened the family if their demands weren’t met.

Nonetheless, the groom’s side was supposed to arrive at 2pm on the day of the wedding but turned up late at night instead. As a result, the bride’s family got annoyed and thrashed the groom’s family. The police had to intervene to have the groom’s side released.

The groom’s family also said they were taken captive, thrashed and the jewellery they had brought for the bride was stolen.

After the police intervened, the matter was settled and the bride married another man the next day.

    3. Maintenance

Maintenance can mean a lot of different things for people. It could literally mean cleaning up your office, home or vehicle. It could mean personal grooming, like getting a haircut or manicure. Moreover, you can get in touch with friends that you have ignored during your busy weekdays.

  • Eating dessert might be good for you

Eating dessert might be good for you

The guilt that follows everytime you eat a dessert can be really stressful. But lucky for us some studies are suggesting that having dessert every once in a while — the real, indulgent kind — may actually be a useful tool for eating more healthfully when used strategically.

According to a report in Time, a new study published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Applied picking dessert first — instead of after a meal — is linked to eating less and chosing of healthier meals. They didn’t even have to eat the treat first; just knowing they had selected it was enough to trigger a change.

Co-author of the study Martin Reimann explaining this concept said, “If we choose something healthy first, then this gives us a license to choose something bigger later. If you turn it around and choose something heavier early on, then this license is already expired.”

Reimann and his team studied 134 university faculty, staff and graduate students who were eating lunch in the school’s cafeteria. On four different days, they offered four different dessert options in the food line: a healthy choice (fresh fruit) placed before the main and side dish options, an indulgent choice (lemon cheesecake) before the savory dishes, fruit placed after the main meal or cheesecake after the main meal.

Almost 70% of people who took the cheesecake first went on to choose a healthier main and side dish (chicken fajitas and a side salad, instead of fried fish and French fries), but only about a third of people who took fruit did so. All told, people who picked cheesecake first went on to eat about 250 fewer calories throughout the course of the meal, compared to people who selected fruit as dessert first. People who took cheesecake after choosing the rest of their meal ended up eating about 150 more calories than who picked it first.

The same concept held true when 160 adults were asked to put together a hypothetical dinner order online, and estimate how much of it they would finish.

People who picked an indulgent dessert (chocolate cake) before ordering the rest of their food said they expected to eat about half as many calories as people who chose a healthy dessert (fruit salad) first, but the difference was much less pronounced when they decided on dessert at the end of the order. Nearly 56% of those who started with chocolate cake went on to choose the lighter main dish (grilled lemon chicken over chicken cordon bleu), versus about 44% of the fruit-orderers.

The study isn’t the first to suggest that the timing of your dessert matters, both physiologically and psychologically. Some experts recommend having dessert after a workout, since the body needs sugars to recover from intense activity and can thus put treats to better use. Foods that combine simple sugars and protein, like peanut butter cups, aid in recovery.

A strategically consumed sweet can even change your overall eating habits, research suggests. One 2012 paper found that people with obesity who followed a diet plan that included desserts like chocolate, cookies or donuts with breakfast later experienced fewer junk food cravings than people who ate a low-calorie, low-carbohydrate morning meal. The study authors suggest that this type of well-timed dessert may help with weight loss and management over time.

Moderate indulging may also help people avoid sugar binges. Research has shown that deprivation can spark cravings, potentially causing people to eventually eat more of the foods they were trying to avoid. So if you’re trying to reduce your sugar intake, a small helping of dessert may actually help you stick to that goal — at least at first.

Over time, if you reduce your consumption little by little, it is possible to retrain your brain and tastebuds to crave sugary foods less. And when you do want to indulge, do so strategically so you can satisfy your sweet tooth without feeling the guilt.
