  • Sidhu’s wife served 850 crore notice over cancer cure claim

Sidhu’s wife served 850 crore notice over cancer cure claim

Former cricketer and politician Navjot Singh Sidhu’s wife Navjot Kaur is facing serious legal trouble after her husband claimed she cured her stage four cancer using diet alone.

The Chhatisgarh Civil Society sent the legal notice demanding a staggering INR 850 crore, accusing the couple of making misleading health claims.

The controversy began when Sidhu said during a press conference on November 23 that his wife, once given only a five percent chance of survival by doctors, became cancer-free in just 40 days by switching to a strict, specialized diet. Sidhu also claimed that he cured his own fatty liver disease following the same nutritional regimen.

According to the legal notice, Sidhu’s claims could potentially mislead cancer patients into abandoning conventional treatments, risking their lives in the process. The notice demands that the couple provide scientific proof to back their extraordinary health claims or face the ₹850 crore penalty for endangering public health.

The notice further warned that spreading such as “false information” could create a negative perception of allopathic treatments, which are widely accepted as standard care for cancer.

The civil society group has given Sidhu’s wife seven days to respond to the accusations or face legal consequences.

Earlier, on 22 November 2024, in a press conference, Sidhu shared his belief that a combination of diet and lifestyle changes played a crucial role in his wife, Navjot Kaur Sidhu’s recovery.

His wife was diagnosed with stage-4 cancer, which had metastasized to the skin. He credited her recovery to a special regimen that involved cutting out sugar, rice, flour, and tea while incorporating various herbs and natural remedies.

“I did not make any arrangements on my side. After researching Ayurveda, American doctors, and research in India, I read for 10 hours and came to the common denominator: cut sugar,” he revealed.

Sidhu explained the simple routine he followed, which he believes helped his wife recover.

“The first thing she used to have in the morning was lemon water with raw turmeric, garlic, and an apple. Half an hour later, she had neem leaves. This costs no money. Seriously, I want to tell everyone that this worked for her in 40 days, even at stage four cancer,” he detailed.

Proudly sharing the outcome of his wife’s treatment, he said, “Her doctors were shocked when she underwent an operation because the cancer cells were gone. After 45 to 50 days post-operation, there were no cancer cells left.”

Sidhu also claimed that he achieved this result despite being in the later stages of cancer, attributing his success to the natural and Ayurvedic treatments he followed.

  • Three former South African cricketers arrested in corruption case

Three former South African cricketers arrested in corruption case

South African police have arrested three former South African cricketers in a corruption case.

Police say that Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Thami Tsolekile, along with former Titans bowler Ethy Mbhalatiare are accused of match-fixing. These three players were suspended from cricket in 2017.

Earlier, the International Cricket Council (ICC) Anti-Corruption Tribunal had banned two players after match-fixing allegations were proven true.

Emirati players Mohammed Naveed and Shaiman Anwar were found guilty of match-fixing by the ICC.

United Arab Emirates cricket team captain Mohammed Naveed and batsman Shaiman Anwar were accused of corruption in 2019, and according to the allegations leveled by the ICC, the had offered match-fixing to players of the Emirati team that qualified for the 2019 T20 World Cup.

The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) later charged Naveed in two corruption cases related to the T10 League.

Emirates bans Usman Khan for five years

Earlier, the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) had imposed a five-year ban on top-order batsman Usman Khan for violating their contract.

In a statement issued by the UAE Cricket Board, it was said that Usman Khan misrepresented to the ECB and took advantage of the facilities, he was bound to play for the UAE but now he is not doing so.

ECB had also given an annual contract to Usman Khan while he played as a local player of the Emirates in the recent ILT Twenty20.

According to the ECB, Usman Khan violated the contract with it, as a result of which he will not be able to participate in any event under the UAE Board for five years.

Usman Khan represented Multan Sultans in the PSL as an overseas player, after which the Pakistan Cricket Board included Usman Khan in the camp of the Pakistan team.

After coming to the Pakistan camp, Usman Khan sent a notice to the UAE to terminate the agreement.

    Afghanistan board bans three cricketers

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has banned Mujeeb ur Rehman, Fazal Haq Farooqi, and Naveen ul Haq for two years.

A dispute has arisen between the players and the Afghan Cricket Board for not signing the central contract.

The three players decided to prefer foreign T20 leagues instead of giving priority to their national team, prompting the Board to take strict action against them. The Afghan Cricket Board has now imposed a two-year ban on Mujeeb ur Rehman, Fazl Haq Farooqi, and Naveen ul Haq while also denying them the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for any T20 league for two years after being banned.

  • Baku’s sweet deal might drive Pakistan’s sugar industry to new heights

Baku’s sweet deal might drive Pakistan’s sugar industry to new heights

Businesses look towards Baku, as Azerbaijan remains poised to invest in Pakistani motorways, despite the Eurasian country’s economy being 130 per cent smaller than Pakistan’s economy in terms of GDP in a move to strengthen bilateral relations via investments.

As it stands, Baku is planning to invest in motorways M6 (Sukkur-Hyderabad) and M9 (Hyderabad-Karachi). It is interesting to note, though, that two years ago, Deputy Commissioner Tashfeen Alam of Naushahro Froze fled Pakistan to Azerbaijan after potentially embezzling two billion rupees from the budget that was allocated to the Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway: The same one Baku wants to invest in.

Regardless of the embezzlement scandal and the officer’s subsequent escape to Azerbaijan, Baku’s plan to invest in Pakistan’s motorway construction will spell great news for businesses. This is due to the fact that the construction of motorways will significantly improve connectivity, helping obscure markets emerge and get connected to the wider Pakistani market.

The beneficiaries will be those enterprising locals who will start up businesses once they obtain road access. This is possible as obtaining road access will enable them to capture the increase in traffic that will start to flow through their area. Rest stops and fuel stations are expected to be set up along the length of the motorway.

The construction of the motorway will also cut travel times down and allow for a greater volume of goods to pass from Sukkur to Karachi. This is expected to facilitate the growth of sugar production and exports greatly.

As per the Sugarcane Policy Analysis for 2023-24 by the Agricultural Policy Institute, Sukkur produces 406.11 thousand tons of Sugar annually, while Hyderabad has an abundance of sugar mills. Connecting these two cities via M6 will allow for a greater volume of sugar to be processed.

It is possible that sugarcane farmers in Sukkur decide to make an attempt to improve their yields as they know they can access Hyderabad’s mills with ease. As for millers in Hyderabad, they will secure a fresh supply of unprocessed sugar to work on.

The second leg of the journey will be the transport of processed sugar, via M9, to the port city of Karachi, where this sugar could get packaged and exported. If exports are boosted, Pakistan could see the export figure for sugar value to sit around half a billion dollars.

Aside from the sugar industry, Baku’s willingness to invest in the motorways is a win for Islamabad. This is because the increase in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) levels will positively signal to other countries that Pakistan is an optimal destination for foreign investments.

If the meeting between the Pakistani delegation and Azerbaijan goes through, those involved in the sugar industry will respond positively to this sweet deal.

Actress and model Zainab Raza has addressed rumours of her relation to former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, clarifying that the ex-president was not her grandfather.

During her appearance on Nida Yasir’s morning show, she openly talked about a number of things.

Zainab said that whenever she shared pictures of her parents on social media, people commented that they were the late Pervez Musharraf’s daughter and son-in-law. She, however, rubbished the claims and explained that her mother was not the former president’s daughter.

“Pervez Musharraf is not my maternal grandfather, and people should stop spreading false information about me.”

The Bharam actress shared that she was born in Dubai, and received early education there.

“I am the first person in my family to choose showbiz. I didn’t initially plan on pursuing a career in entertainment or modelling,” Zainab said.

“99% of the information about me on the internet, including Google, is incorrect. There are a lot of rumours about me,” she complained, admitting that she often put in her name on the search engine.

“I didn’t come from America, and I am not 23 years old. I am 26. Most of the information about me is entirely incorrect,” the Tamasha contestant said.

Zainab also expressed frustration that her best friend Ahmed Memon was often labelled as her boyfriend on YouTube and other websites, whereas she only considered him a good friend and brother.

Earlier, ‘Tamasha Ghar’ contestant and model Zainab Raza gave an interview to Irfanistan where she addressed the consistent online backlash to her choice of outfits, and shut down her haters by reminding them that what she chooses to wear is her own choice.

“My life, my rules. I know what I have to wear at any place. I wouldn’t walk in Khadda Market wearing a skirt; I’d wear normal clothes. I know that it’s comfortable to wear what I want, so I do it.”

The model went on to criticise the hypocrisy of Pakistani men by pointing out how they will ogle and appreciate pictures of models Gigi and Bella Hadid, who are both Muslims, and have been spotted wearing revealing clothes, but will slut-shame Pakistani women endlessly if they do the same.

“Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid are both Muslims. The same men will like their pictures but since we’re Pakistani Muslims, they’ll insult and slut-shame us if we do the same.”

Is Fast X 2 in trouble? Vin Diesel is concerned about the film’s direction

Fast and Furious fans were left shocked and concerned when American actor and film producer Vin Diesel shared an update of the highly anticipated Fast X: Part 2.

Vin Diesel took to Instagram to detail the challenges he faces during the production, leaving many wondering about the future of the franchise.

In a Thanksgiving post, Diesel expressed the pressures he feels with the sequel.

“I got universal in one ear saying we need FastX2 by March 2026! I have Comcast in the other ear saying we need two movies to be the Finale! Then the writer on Fast Five sent me this image and said we need to see DOM and HOBBS resolve their differences,” Diesel wrote.

Vin Diesel also expressed his desire to bring the franchise back to its roots, focusing on street racing practical stunts, and reuniting the iconic brotherhood.

In spite of these challenges, Fast X has earned $704 million worldwide, setting new records for the franchise. As the 25th anniversary of Fast and Furious nears in 2026, fans are eagerly waiting for more news about the next chapter of the action packed saga.

Earlier, last year 2023, Action star Vin Diesel has been accused of sexually assaulting his assistant in an Atlanta hotel room over a decade ago, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday.

The suit is the latest claim to be lodged with courts in California, which has extended the length of time in which legal action can be taken in cases of alleged sexual crimes.

Asta Jonasson said her first assignment after being hired by the Fast and Furious star’s company was to travel to Atlanta in September 2010 during the filming of Fast Five. There, she was tasked with helping Diesel leave a hotel in the early morning hours after entertaining multiple women in a suite, before paparazzi were alerted to his whereabouts.

“Alone in the hotel suite with him, Vin Diesel sexually assaulted Ms Jonasson. Vin Diesel forcibly grabbed Ms Jonasson, groped her breasts, and kissed her. Ms Jonasson struggled continually to break free of his grasp, while repeatedly saying no. “Vin Diesel then escalated his assault,” the suit said, with the actor trying to pull down his assistant’s underwear.

  • PML-N moves resolution in Punjab Assembly to ban PTI

PML-N moves resolution in Punjab Assembly to ban PTI

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Muhammad Fayyaz has submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly secretariat, seeking a ban on arch-rivals Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The resolution demands stringent action against former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s PTI, labelling the party a “disruptive group” operating under the guise of a political party, and calls for those responsible for the November 24 protests to be brought to justice.

A similar resolution was introduced in the Balochistan Assembly on Thursday, accusing PTI of committing acts of violence and taking on the form of a “political anarchist group”.

The resolution was moved by Balochistan Minister for Communications and Works Mir Saleem Ahmad Khosa, provincial ministers Mir Sadiq Umrani, Mir Asim Kurd Gelo, Raheela Hamid Khan Durrani, Bakht Mohammad Kakar and parliamentary secretaries against the PTI’s actions during the recent protests.

The resolution read, “This kind of anarchist agenda of the PTI has badly affected every system and school of thought in the country, including the judiciary, the media and the country’s economy.”

The opposition in the Balochistan Assembly staged a walkout in protest, decrying the mistreatment of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party.

The resolution accused the PTI of orchestrating violent demonstrations, including assault on public and military installations during the May 9 protests last year. It also criticised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for allegedly using state resources to challenge federal authority, describing such actions as part of a “non-political agenda.”

PTI’s recent “do-or-die” protest in the federal capital ended abruptly after a government crackdown that resulted in the apprehendation of 1,151 protesters, including 64 Afghan nationals. Authorities claimed to have confiscated weapons, ball bearings, and spiked clubs from the detained Afghans.

Meanwhile, PTI leader Salman Akram Raja alleged that 20 protesters were killed during the demonstrations—a claim that the authorities have denied.

Earlier, Senator Faisal Vawda, while appearing on the Geo News programme Capital Talk on Wednesday, had claimed that former Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s party will be banned.

Faisal Vawda stated, “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister [Ali Amin Gandapur] will not be arrested, but Bushra Bibi [Imran Khan’s wife] will.”

Faisal Vawda also pointed out the absence of PTI’s big names during the recent protest: “Where was Omar Ayub Khan, Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly?”

He alleged that the former First Lady has a “major role” in bringing founder Imran Khan’s party to a “dead end.”

It should be mentioned here that PTI marched towards Islamabad on the “final call” of party founder Imran Khan.

PTI demanded the reversal of the recently passed 26th Constitution Amendment, the “stolen mandate,” and the release of all party political prisoners, including Imran Khan.

  • Champion Trophy meeting ends without a decision; Pakistan sticks to its stance

Champion Trophy meeting ends without a decision; Pakistan sticks to its stance

The International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting to decide the fate of Champions Trophy 2025 has ended without a resolution, as Pakistan stood firm on its stance against the hybrid model for hosting the tournament.

According to Geo, the meeting held today was short-lived, getting postponed until tomorrow. Both parties presented proposals in today’s meeting, which will be discussed in detail at the meeting tomorrow.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) remained steadfast on the issue of the hybrid model. Pakistan briefed the Board regarding its position and showed no flexibility. An acceptable formula regarding the Champions Trophy is likely to be revealed by tomorrow.

Pakistan had asked for an acceptable formula for the trophy before the board meeting, with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi informing the ICC of Pakistan’s clear position.

He said, “We will bear wounds, but we will not let our honour be compromised. The PCB has almost completed all the arrangements for the Champions Trophy.”

India is lobbying to move the entire Champions Trophy out of Pakistan, but the PCB has also completed preparations to block Indian tactics. PCB will not accept any option without its own conditions.

Pakistan is not ready to accept the proposal to play the match against India at a neutral venue, while broadcasters have opposed the proposal to keep Pakistan and India in separate groups. Pakistan has expressed its displeasure over the delay in resolving the Champions Trophy crisis in a timely manner.

How much will PCB get from hosting the Champions Trophy?

Pakistan is set to host the Champions Trophy 2025, but do you know how much money the country will get to host the mega event?

According to reports, Pakistan will get $6 million for hosting rights to the ICC Champions Trophy. Pakistan will also have to pay $1.2 to $1.3 million as a premium to the insurance company to insure the tournament. Pakistan will get more dollars from gate money and hospitality, thus deducting the insurance amount and getting about $6 million.

The ICC provides Pakistan with two instalments of $13 million from its income every year in January and July, while India gets 38 per cent of the annual share of ICC income, which is $90 to $95 million.

Earlier, Mohsin Naqvi has made it clear to the ICC that the Pakistan Board is firm on its stance regarding the Champions Trophy and that they will bear the scars and not allow themselves to be dishonoured.

  • ‘My complaint led to more difficulties for me,’ says Maimoona Qudoos about early career harassment

‘My complaint led to more difficulties for me,’ says Maimoona Qudoos about early career harassment

Actress Memoona Qudoos has revealed that she not only faced discrimination at the beginning of her career but was also harassed.

Memoona Qudoos recently appeared on New TV’s program Zabardast, where she spoke openly about being the victim of harassment.

“I left my hometown alone at a young age to pursue a career in the entertainment industry, due to which I also faced problems,” she disclosed.

“At 22 or 23, I came to another city to pursue an entertainment career, where no one cared about me. Despite being Muslim and belonging to the same country, I was not helped.”

Memoona Qudoos revealed that she was raised by her uncle. “I was very close to him, I always remember the time spent with him. I also regret that my uncle passed away before he saw the rise of my career.”

In response to a question, she said, “At the beginning of my career, actresses were jealous of me, even senior actresses who have become ‘aunties’ were jealous of me.”

She questioned that the ‘aunties’ should have understood that they couldn’t snatch her future.

Without naming anyone, she said, “Actresses of my age were also jealous of me and that I faced many difficulties at the beginning of my career, but despite this, I did not give up.”
She revealed, “I was even harassed at the beginning of my career and when I complained about it, more difficulties were created for me, and the complaint harmed me.”

Speaking on the same issue, Maimona Quddus stated that in a society like Pakistan, almost every working girl faces harassment at some point in her life. “If a girl says that she has not been harassed, she is lying or afraid of someone.”

According to Maimuna Quddus, “Society is built in such a way that girls face harassment.”
