Why did Kubra Khan find the first 15 minutes of ‘Noor Jahan’ annoying?

Actress Kubra Khan recently appeared on Gloss Etc by Maliha Rehman, where she shared her thoughts on the popular drama ‘Noor Jahan’. While many viewers are relating to the controlling mother-in-law character, Kubra revealed that she was actually annoyed by the first 15 minutes of the drama.

Kubra Khan said, “To be honest, I was annoyed with the very first 15 minutes of the drama. The way Musaddiq has shot the sequence where a wife thinks her husband is planning her birthday, but it turns out to be an event for his mom, was super annoying. And what’s even more frustrating is that this is how people generally live here, and many were able to relate to it.”

The story of the drama revolves around Saba Hamid’s Noor Jahan, a wealthy and dominant mother of three sons. She controls every aspect of their lives, but her strict rules and plans lead to unexpected challenges that test the family’s bond and shape their futures.
The drama is written by Zanjabeel Asim Shah and directed by Musaddiq Malik. It airs on Friday and Saturday at 08:00 PM on ARY Digital.

Pakistanis seeking asylum in foreign countries will not receive passports

The federal Ministry of Interior has decided on Tuesday not to issue passports to Pakistanis who have requested asylum or are already living on asylum in foreign countries, citing security concerns.

The ministry sent a letter to relevant authorities asking them not to issue travel documents to asylum seekers.

According to the ministry’s notification, previously issued passports will be suspended and not renewed.

The Director General Passports issued the notification on Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s directions.

The Foreign Ministry and other relevant authorities have also received copies of the notification.

According to data issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR),  almost 40,618 Pakistanis applied for asylum in 2022.

Most Pakistani asylum seekers are currently based in Italy, Austria, and Canada.

Pakistan was the fifth most represented country, with 5342 immigrants arriving in Europe; however, the number of Pakistani asylum seekers in Greece didn’t increase from 2022 to 2023.

Umar Akmal’s shirtless photos get trolled by social media

Pakistan’s former middle order batsman Umar Akmal has taken to Twitter to inform the world about his fitness. And he’s done so in a rather weird way.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar has told journalists on Tuesday outside Adiala Jail that Imran Khan has given a green signal for talks with the government.

“We told the PTI founder that dialogue is necessary, as distances are widening. He agreed with us [on this],” said Gohar.

Barrister Gohar said that Imran Khan is ready to forgive what has happened to him for the sake of the country.

Gohar emphasised that it would be PTI’s own decision to negotiate when asked if the negotiations would take place with the help of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

He also mentioned that the party will begin negotiations after talking to Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai.

“We have never refused to negotiate. The ice is breaking. We want things to improve,” said Gohar.

CJP told Khan to go to the parliament as the “country needs to move forward.”

With growing demand for artificial intelligence, Apple has made its voice assistant Siri and operating system compatible with artificial intelligence (AI) so that it too, can get ahead in the artificial intelligence race. Apple is integrating OpenAI’s artificial intelligence platform ChatGPT feature with Siri in iPhones.

Apple announced a makeover of Siri along with several other new features at its annual developers show Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) at the company’s headquarters in California on Monday. Apple has named this AI system ‘Apple Intelligence’ and it aims to give users a way to easily navigate Apple devices.

It has partnered with OpenAi, the Developer of ChatGPT, under which its iPhone and Mac operating systems will have access to ChatGPT.

  • Ceasefire agreement in Gaza coming close at hand?

Ceasefire agreement in Gaza coming close at hand?

The UN Security Council gave a green signal to a US-proposed ceasefire plan on Monday aimed at ending the Israeli attacks in Gaza.

The proposition consists of a three-stage ceasefire and captive-release proposal laid out on May 31 by President Biden, prompting the “parties to fully implement its terms without delay and without condition”.

As per the plan, Israel will withdraw its military forces from Gaza’s populated areas, Hamas will release the remaining captives and humanitarian aid would be allowed into Gaza “at scale”.

A temporary ceasefire will be in effect for six weeks at first, with the possibility of extension as negotiators work towards a permanent cessation of hostilities.

As per the resolution, Israel has agreed to the plan and urged Hamas to also agree to it as well.

However, Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Netanyahu, have recently vowed to continue the operations until Hamas is completely eradicated, raising doubts about their commitment to the ceasefire agreement.

Hamas has expressed approval of the resolution and signalled readiness to engage in indirect talks regarding the implementation of the agreement’s principles.

  • UK earned £5.3 million from rejected Pakistani visa applications

UK earned £5.3 million from rejected Pakistani visa applications

According to research by Lago Collective, the United Kingdom and Schengen countries earned millions of pounds and euros by collecting fees from rejected visa applications from Global South countries including Pakistan.

The report revealed that Pakistanis spent £5.3 million on rejected UK visa applications with almost 40 percent of rejected applications in 2023 alone.

In the same year, around 50 percent of Schengen visas from Pakistan were also rejected, with €3.344m spent on applications.

Marta Foresti, co-researcher of the Lago Collective research paper, highlighted, “Visa inequality has very tangible consequences and the world’s poorest pay the price. You can think of the costs of rejected visas as ‘reverse remittances’, money flowing from poor to rich countries.”

According to Foresti, “Visa regimes are not equal or reciprocal,” emphasizing that while European citizens can easily obtain a visa to a third-world country; the situation isn’t similar when any poor country’s citizen tries to obtain a visa to Europe.

Meanwhile, visa application fees are increasing which means an extra burden on those trying to move towards better opportunities abroad.

World Food Program suspends aid in Gaza after Israel killed 274 Palestinians

The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has suspended the delivery of aid through a temporary US port established in the Gaza Strip after an operation was conducted by the Israeli army to recover hostages from the port, killing 274 Palestinians.

WFP Director Cindy McCain announced the suspension of aid activities on June 10, stating that rockets were fired at two warehouses of the WFP during the operation, resulting in one staff member being injured.

The statement further said that work has been stopped for now to assess the safety of aid workers.

The temporary port was established by the USA in May and operated for a week before closing for two weeks due to a hurricane.

After the sea crossing was repaired, it was reopened on June 8, but on the same day, the Israeli army attacked Gaza using the port.

    Nusseirat massacre.

Four Israeli hostages who were held by Hamas since eight months were released, however, 274 Palestinians were killed at the Nusseirat refugee camp.

    Aid suspended

The director of the World Food Program said that “After the Israeli action, we are now concerned about the safety of our staff”.

“Right now we are pulling back for a while to ensure the safe delivery of aid before resuming relief operations, but work will continue in other parts of Gaza,” she added.

On the other hand, the Israeli media claimed in a report that there is a fear of a Hamas attack on the American port, due to which security measures have been tightened there.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is in the Middle East today to push for a ceasefire deal in Gaza.
