How a trip to Hunza started the love story between Anzela, Tashfeen

Actress Anzela Abbasi, the daughter of Javeria Abbasi and Shamoon Abbasi, recently appeared in ‘Good Morning Pakistan’ hosted by Nida Yasir.
The host asked, “How did you two first meet? Was it through something like therapy, or did you just happen to meet Tashfeen by chance?”

Anzela Abbasi said, “I met Tashfeen on a trip to Hunza with a large group of friends, and we became friends, but we only kept in touch sporadically. It wasn’t until we reconnected two years later that our friendship blossomed into something more. Tashfeen confessed his feelings for me, and I felt the same way. Our parents were thrilled about our relationship, and my mother was particularly fond of Tashfeen as a partner for me.”

They also discussed the backlash Anzela received for wearing a white bridal dress. She said, “I know red doesn’t look good on me, and even my family members suggested I wear a red dress, but I did what made me happy and enjoyed my wedding day. I also want to say that it’s terrible how people troll and criticize others on their wedding day, causing them pain on what should be a joyful occasion.”

  • Chaudhry Parvez Elahi released from Kot Lakhpat jail after months

Chaudhry Parvez Elahi released from Kot Lakhpat jail after months

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) president Chaudhry Parvez Elahi was released on Tuesday after being detained in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail for months, Geo has reported.

The development comes after the Lahore High Court (LHC) approved the bail of the senior politician in the Punjab Assembly illegal recruitment case. Justice Sultan Tanvir of the LHC announced the decision on Elahi’s bail request.

After the release, the PTI president reached his residence in Lahore.

Parvez Elahi was arrested after May 9 events, when authorities cracked down on the opposition party.

Earlier last year, on May 9, violent protests erupted after the arrest of PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The protesters attacked public and private properties, including military installations, in multiple cities across the country. In prominent locations, General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi and Jinnah House Lahore are included, where violent protesters attacked.

However, the PTI president said that the people of Gujarat “had to suffer a lot of abuse and cruelty”. He also stated that PTI’s mandate was stolen in his home city. “We will not talk to [Chaudhry] Shujaat sahib’s children until our mandate is given back to us.”

“I was, am, and will stand with the founder of PTI,” he added.

Relieved travellers land in Singapore after deadly turbulence

Rattled travellers and crew landed in Singapore Wednesday after a terrifying high-altitude plunge on a flight from London during which an elderly passenger died and more than 80 were injured.

Singapore Airlines flight SQ321 hit “sudden extreme turbulence” over Myanmar 10 hours into its journey on Tuesday, abruptly rising and plunging several times.

One passenger said people were thrown around the cabin so violently they put dents in the ceiling during the drama at 11,300 metres (37,000 feet), leaving dozens with head injuries.

Photos from inside the plane show the cabin in chaos, strewn with food, drinks bottles and luggage, and with oxygen masks dangling from the ceiling.

The plane, carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew, made an emergency landing at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport, where medical staff used gurneys to ferry the injured to ambulances waiting on the tarmac.

A 73-year-old British man died, while Bangkok’s Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital said late Tuesday 71 people had been sent for treatment — six of them seriously injured.

The airport in the Thai capital said 83 passengers and crew were hurt.

A relief flight carrying 131 passengers and 12 crew landed at Singapore’s Changi Airport on Wednesday morning.

Relieved relatives greeted the arrivals with hugs but all were too shaken to talk to waiting reporters.

Andrew Davies, a British passenger aboard the Boeing 777-300ER, told BBC radio that the plane “suddenly dropped” and there was “very little warning”.

“During the few seconds of the plane dropping, there was an awful screaming and what sounded like a thud,” he said, adding that he helped a woman who was “screaming in agony” with a “gash on her head”.

Separately, he told a BBC podcast he feared the plane was going to crash.

“Remembering the plane now — the huge dents in the roof that people had obviously hit with their head. There was a water bottle stuck in a gap in the ceiling,” he said.

Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong sent his “deepest condolences” to the family and loved ones of the dead man — identified as Geoff Kitchen, a musical theatre director from near Bristol.

The city-state is sending investigators to Bangkok to probe the incident and Wong posted on Facebook that they were “working closely with Thai authorities.”

Of the passengers, 56 were Australians, 47 British and 41 Singaporeans, according to the airline.

“In terms of exactly what happened, it’s too early to tell. But I think passengers are too casual on board commercial aircraft,” US-based aerospace safety expert Anthony Brickhouse told AFP.

“The moment the captain turns off the seatbelt sign, people literally unbuckle.”

Davies, the passenger, said “the plane suddenly dropped” at the very moment a seatbelt sign came on.

Allison Barker told the BBC her son Josh, who was aboard the plane, texted her that he was on “a crazy flight” that was making an emergency landing.

“It was terrifying,” she said. “I didn’t know what was going on. We didn’t know whether he’d survived, it was so nerve-racking. It was the longest two hours of my life.”

Scientists have long warned that climate change is likely to increase so-called clear air turbulence, which is invisible to radar.

A 2023 study found the annual duration of clear air turbulence increased 17 percent from 1979 to 2020, with the most severe cases increasing more than 50 percent.

Ushna Shah has interesting opinions on ‘delaying marriage’ for a guy

Famous actor Ushna Shah has shared crucial marriage advice for young women. She suggests they should never wait for a guy to be ready for marriage.
In a recent podcast with ‘FHM’, Ushna said girls shouldn’t wait for a guy to be ready for marriage. “So many girls waste their time,” she said. “If a guy wants to marry you, he will. That’s it. There are no ifs or buts.”

She continued to say, “Something I learned late in my life but feel grateful for knowing now—that we have a biological clock ticking, unlike men. I’m not saying don’t focus on your career or rush into marriage. What I mean is, if a guy is wasting your time, don’t let him,” advised the actor. “If you have to delay marriage, do it for your career, your parents, or yourself, but never for a guy. If a guy is making an idiot out of you, don’t let him.”

“Girls, here’s another thing: don’t send long messages to a guy after a breakup. If he’s hurting you or cheating on you, the best thing is to vanish from his life. Don’t even talk to him; disappear, as if you were never there,” she suggested.

Shah ended her advice by saying, “Stop wasting your years, time, emotions, and mental health on other people. Nobody is worth it.”

Court rejects plea seeking Khan’s disqualification in Tyrian White case

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has dismissed a plea seeking Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s disqualification in the Tyrian White case.

A new IHC bench heard the petition filed against Imran Khan for not revealing his alleged daughter in the nomination papers for contesting the 2018 general elections.

Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Justice Arbab Mohammad Tahir, and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz heard the case today.

The Tyrian White case was pending since May 2023, when IHC chief justice Aamer Farooq dissolved the three-member bench hearing the petition.

Earlier, IHC CJ Aamer Farooq, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, and Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir were hearing the case and had reserved the verdict on March 30 last year.

However, Justice Kayani and Justice Tahir wrote an opinion rejecting the petition’s validity and posted it on the IHC’s website, but it was later taken down.

On the other hand, during today’s hearing, the court said that the petition against Imran Khan’s disqualification had already been rejected by the bench.

“The majority decision has already been issued,” remarked the court.

  • London plan included Imran Khan, Tahir-ul-Qadri and others in 2014, says journalist Murtaza Shah

London plan included Imran Khan, Tahir-ul-Qadri and others in 2014, says journalist Murtaza Shah

Geo News journalist Murtaza Ali Shah on Monday spoke on the channel’s ‘Report Card’ about the “London Plan” in 2014 which included the collusion of founder Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri and Imran Khan.

Shah recounted that a friend had invited him to his house for dinner and when he went, “Imran Khan, Tahir-ul-Qadri, journalist Mubasher Lucman, some members of Chaudhary family [PML-Q] and two officials were present in that room.”

Shah stated that the situation got awkward for all because they were afraid “I might break this story.”

“I received a call from a mutual friend present there 20 minutes after I left that place and he told me that I mustn’t do a story because I already know the precarious condition of Geo News channel due to severe restrictions put on it after Hamid Mir was shot,” said Murtaza.

Murtaza said that he was warned that there would be more severe consequences for Geo News if he broke the story.

Murtaza said it is true that “Mubashar Lucman played the key role between Qadri and Khan because at that point there was no common ground between them.”
