Actress and stage artist Nargis was allegedly tortured by her husband over a monetary dispute.
According to the police, she was allegedly assaulted by her husband, Inspector Majid Bashir, in Lahore’s Defence C area.
“After the quarrel, she also came to the police station last night but has not filed any complaint yet,” police added.
Nargis, who married Inspector Majid Bashir a few years ago, now runs a beauty salon after having stepped away from the entertainment industry.
“No application has been received from Nargis’s family so far; if we receive a complaint, action will be taken according to the law,” police said.
Earlier, it was reported that Nargis’s brother had reached out to the police and told them that her sister had been beaten black and blue by her husband.
Punjab Police on Thursday arrested a female TikToker after her viral claim to be the mother of the alleged ‘rape victim’ of Punjab College was proven false.
In the viral video, the woman was seen claiming to be the mother of the alleged rape victim and related gruesome details of the incident which all turned out to be false as the case was declared to be a manifestation of disinformation.
The news of the alleged rape incited violent protests in different cities of the province.

The Organized Crime Unit (OCU) of Lahore’s Model Town police made the arrest after a case was registered against her in the Gulberg police station.
Deputy Inspector General Imran Kishwar of OCU told Dawn that a police team arrested Sarah on Thursday when she went to Lahore High Court to get bail in a case filed against her by the Federal Investigation Agency’s cyber crime wing.
Furthermore, he added that the complaint against her was lodged by Gulberg police sub-inspector Mohammad Imran under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes (PECA) Act, 2016 and other charges.
The DIG told media that during the investigation the woman was originally a resident of Karachi but has a permanent address in Multan.
DIG Kishwar said that Sara Khan has been handed over to the JIT-responsible to probe the investigation of the case-for further investigation.
OCU Model Town Superintendent Police Aftab Phularwan was the convener of the JIT while other members include DSP Faisal Shareef, woman inspector Fiza and one representative each was included from Intelligence Bureau (IB) and FIA.
The evidence collected by the seven-member committee formed by the Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz, has presented its finding in the Punjab College alleged rape case. It declared that the alleged rape incident of a college student was based on fake news that was viral on social media.
During the formulation of the report, the committee recorded the statements of the alleged rape victim and her parents, who categorically denied that such an incident took place.
They further informed the committee that the girl got injured at home, leading to her being admitted to a private hospital for treatment. They also said that the girl had never been a student of the said campus and that she did not attend college from October 2 onwards because of her injury. College record also complied with this statement.
Punjab College had already announced that no such incident happened at said institute.

Zubair Ali Khan, a YouTuber, claimed that when he landed in New York to cover the United States elections, an immigration officer at the airport asked him about the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan from jail. The officer’s inquiry led him to think that “Imran Khan has become Pakistan’s international identity.”
He posted on X (formerly Twitter): “At New York Airport after the immigration officer finished my interview and came to see me off, the Immigration officer asked me, When will Imran Khan be released from jail?
“In amazement, I asked, Are you Asian? The Immigration officer responded, No, I’m Spanish, then he asked, are protests still happening in support of Imran Khan in Islamabad, or is there peace now? Standing at the door, I was quite surprised by this conversation. I told him that things are now calm in Islamabad. Laughingly, I said that when Trump wins the election, Imran Khan will also be released. The immigration officer, while saying goodbye to me, shook my hand warmly and stated, God bless Imran Khan.”

Although the article is still available in print and e-newspaper, it cannot be found anywhere on the website. Netizens wondered about the sudden disappearance of the article while also archiving it on social media.
Shahbaz Rana revealed in the story that German Ambassador Alfred Grannas wrote to the army chief after German investor Siemens was allegedly forced to agree to a settlement for shutting down a 450 MW power plant. However, the government maintains that the agreement was a mutually negotiated settlement rather than a coerced decision.
Rana wrote: “Siemens holds a 26 percent stake in Rousch Pakistan Power Limited, one of the five power plants whose contracts were terminated this month in an effort to reduce electricity costs by 60 paisa per unit. Germany, however, hasn’t accepted this termination but is willing to end the contract if Pakistan meets at least six conditions.”
The German ambassador, in his letter to the COAS, stated that the “unusual manner in which these negotiations continue to be conducted is already damaging the trust of German enterprises and investors.”
The German investor has proposed six conditions for an amicable resolution. First is the guarantee from the Ministry of Finance and the State Bank of Pakistan to ensure all settlement funds, currency transfers, historic and future dividends be transferred to German bank accounts. Secondly, the German investor seeks the resolution of a sales tax dispute with FBR and the withdrawal of all pending legal proceedings against the plant.
Thirdly, it proposed that after the handover, Siemens seeks release from any ongoing maintenance or preservation obligations for the complex. Fourthly, an amendment in the indemnification clause in the settlement agreement should be made to include protection for all board directors. Fifth, board members and shareholders must be indemnified, defended, and held harmless from and against any claims or taxes related to the project and its termination. Lastly, an immediate transfer of Rs. 3.1 billion in dividend arrears to Germany as a gesture of good faith.
It should be noted that the Rousch power plant contract has been renegotiated three times since 2000, each time resulting in less than guaranteed dividend payments to investors and shareholders.
The passport department has amended the rules governing the issuance of passports as citizens will now be able to get their passport made from any city across the country regardless of the address mentioned in their computerised national identity card (CNIC).
The letter of amendment has been sent to regional offices.
Directorate General (DG) of Immigration and Passports Mustafa Jamal Qazi told Geo News that the decision by the federal government was made in light of the increasing issues faced by the citizens due to these restrictions.
As per the official statement, passport applications will not be refused if citizens’ residential address on CNIC is different from the area they are applying for the travel document.
Furthermore, the backlog of passports for people travelling across the country is expected to be cleared soon which will make the process even smoother.
10 advanced printing machines imported from outside the country have been included in the passport machinery and the installation is underway.
Express Tribune sources say that these machines will be fully operational within the next few days.
However, it is expected that this will double the printing capacity of passport office and reduce the waiting time for citizens applying for passports.
Earlier, in August this year long delays in the issuance of passports created inconvenience for the applicants.
The Passport and Immigration Department had confirmed that it failed to deliver passports to over 500,000 individuals on time, despite collecting millions of rupees in fees.
Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar informed the National Assembly that the issue would be resolved by the end of September after the installation of new machinery and software as this gap between demand and supply is the reason of the delay.
The department, however, attributed the delays to a sudden increase in the number of Pakistanis seeking to travel abroad due to the plummeting economy of the country.
Notably, Passport Office recieves 40,000 to 50,000 applications daily but, even at full capacity it can only print 20,000 to 22,000 passports per day. As a result, more than 500,000 people across the country are waiting for their passports despite having paid fee.
Those opting for the fast-track passport service-costing between Rs 20,000 and Rs 27,000-are receiving their passports within a week.
The passport office has expressed optimism about the installation of the new system as it will increase the daily capacity for issuing passports from 26,000 to 60,000.
