    Aamir Khan’s candid confession: Owning up to Laal Singh Chaddha’s failure

     

    In a recent podcast appearance with Reha Chakraborty, Indian actor Aamir Khan, known for perfectionism, made a surprising admission. He acknowledged that his performance in the movie Laal Singh Chaddha was subpar, which contributed to the film’s failure.

    The anchor was taken aback by his honesty, remarking that no actor or star ever admits to their own performance being the reason for a film’s poor reception.

    Khan responded by saying, “Yes, my performance was not up to the mark, and I have a lot to learn from it. But I’m confident that my next movie will showcase a better performance.”

    Interestingly, Aamir Khan also mentioned that Laal Singh Chaddha is one of his favorite films, despite his own performance not meeting expectations. He attributed the film’s failure to the audience’s inability to connect with it.

    On a positive note, Aamir Khan also spoke about his upcoming film, Sitaray, which he claims is an excellent movie that he thoroughly enjoyed working on. His candid confession and willingness to learn from his mistakes have earned him praise from fans and critics alike.

    Gender equality takes center stage: Laapataa Ladies to be screened at Supreme Court of India

    The film ‘Laapataa Ladies,’ Kiran Rao’s highly-praised venture, will be shown today at the Supreme Court of India. Bollywood actor and producers Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao will be at the event.

    Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud is scheduled on Friday, August 9, 2024 to attend the screening, which is set to take place at the Auditorium of the Administrative Building Complex from 4:15 to 6:20 p.m. alongside other senior court judges and their spouses.  
     
    The Supreme Court of India issued a notification with a statement saying:
     
     “As part of the activities organized during the seventy-fifth year of the establishment of the Supreme Court of India, the movie ‘Laapataa Ladies,’ which is based on the theme of gender equality, will be screened on Friday, 9 August 2024, in the Auditorium, C-Block, Administrative Building Complex. Ms. Kiran Rao, who has directed the movie, and Mr. Aamir Khan, producer, will also be present during the screening.”

    Laapataa Ladies was released on Netflix on March 1, 2024. The film is about two brides who get hilariously mixed up and, in the process, end up finding their own strengths.

    During the launch of Raj Pandit’s song, proud father Aamir said, “When Junaid’s film Maharaj was released, I was very stressed thinking if the audience would like his work or not.”

    The star has a surprise for us.
    “I have started learning to sing. I have been training for the last year with Sucheta Ji as my guru,” the Dangal actor added.

    Mahraraj was released on Netflix on June 21, 2024.

    Junaid Khan’s debut in Netflix’s Maharaj has been widely praised by critics and fans alike. In a recent interview, he discussed auditioning for his father’s film Laal Singh Chaddha.

    During an interview with ETimes, Junaid said, “I had actually auditioned for Laal Singh Chaddha, which Papa has talked about publicly, but it didn’t work out. Papa (Aamir Khan) was very keen that I do the film.”

    Kareena Kapoor, Naga Chaitanya, and Mona Singh costarred in Aamir Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha.’ It was directed by Advait Chandan remake of the movie ‘Forrest Gump.’ The movie was a complete flop at the box office.

    When questioned about the role Junaid auditioned for, ‘Maharaj’ director Siddharth P Malhotra said, “It was this audition that Adi (Aditya Chopra) and I saw, and what an audition that was… it was outstanding and if that clip can be released at some point in time, it would be great.”

    Junaid talked about how he found the story inspiring: “Karsandas Mulji was a real person who in 1862 was talking about those things which even today are happening. It happens in society today. And it happens in every society. And at that time he was fighting about it. When we didn’t have that much knowledge. So I found the character and the story very inspirational. That there is a man who had so much understanding back then.”

    He also said that “Aamir Khan is a perfectionist who has given us exceptional cinema, and his filmmaking is vast and diverse.”

    Nawazuddin has worked with Salman Khan in films like ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Kick’, with Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Raees’, and with Aamir Khan in ‘Talash’ and ‘Sarfrosh.’

    Indian director Kiran Rao was recently appeared as a guest on Cyrus Says podcast where she revealed that she didn’t make enough money to support herself in Mumbai even though she worked as an assistant director on many feature films including ‘Lagaan’.

    She also talked about how an advertising job provided her the money she needed to live in the city.

    She said, “I worked in the gig economy once. Worried about whether my money would survive and if I could pay the rent, I was going to find a job, work for as long as it paid, and then look for another one.”
    When the host asked about working on the film ‘Lagaan’, implying that it should have paid well, Kiran replied, “Feature films didn’t pay. It was advertising that paid me the money to live in Mumbai. With Lagaan, the first assistant director (AD) system kind of started coming in. Advertising gigs helped me afford super expensive things like a computer and a car.”

    Kiran, ex-wife of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and ‘Laapataa Ladies’ filmmaker, won hearts on social media and among fans with her film about two lost brides. Her previous films include ‘Dhobi Ghat’ (2010), ‘Talaash’ (2012).

    Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan is making his acting debut in the film ‘Maharaj’, releasing on Netflix on June 14.
    The film is directed by Siddharth Malhotra and produced by Aditya Chopra’s
    Netflix India. Jaideep Ahlawat posted the film poster with the caption, “The fight for the truth between a powerful man and a fearless journalist. Based on true events from the 1860s – ‘Maharaj’ is releasing on 14 June, only on Netflix!”

    The film ‘Maharaj’ is based on true events. In 1862, India had only three universities and was fighting for independence. A brave journalist and social reformer, Karsandas Mulji, stood up for women’s rights and social change. He was a student at Elphinstone College and worked with a prominent leader, Dadabhai Naoroji. Mulji wrote about important issues like widow remarriages and fought for the oppressed. He was involved in the Maharaj Libel Case, a historic court case that marked a turning point in Indian history.

During an appearance on Netflix’s The Great Indian Kapil Show, Aamir responded to a fan’s question about teaming up with the other two Khans by saying, “We think alike,” in a clip that hadn’t been shown before.

    The perfectionist Khan said that he had a meeting with Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan where they talked about a possible project they could work on together.

    “I told them, we’ve been in this industry for many years, and at this point in our careers, not making a film together would be unfair to our fans. We should make at least one film together,” he narrated, getting fans excited about the prospect. “I hope we come across great stories, and talented directors present those stories to us.”
