    PTI turns against poet Ahmad Farhad for calling leadership ‘cowards’

    Poet Ahmad Farhad faced backlash from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and supporters after he criticised party heads for their absence during the Islamabad protests.

    Farhad has previously been vocal in favour of PTI and has written poetry for the party.

    Vehemently criticisingly PTI leadership on Sunday in an interview with journalist Ikram Raja, Farhad said, “PTI leadership are cowards, compromised. Not a single leader is present at D Chowk.”

    He said that protestors reached Islamabad D Chowk despite facing rubber bullets, baton charges, and tear gas shells, but PTI leadership disappointed them, adding, “lanat hu lanat hu lanat hu PTI leadership par.”

    Farhad’s statements led to PTI workers fiercely opposing him.

    He took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote that PTI leadership remained out of sight during protests but advised their followers to approach D Chowk; he added that PTI was an establishment puppet during their reign and now they are missing democracy and claiming their protests are revolutions.

    During a Twitter space hosted by Salman Khan, Salman Ahmad misbehaved with poet Ahmad Farhad.

    Farhad questioned the Chief Minister (CM) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) sudden disappearance from the Islamabad protests; Salman furiously answered, “Farhad is a puppet of the establishment,” and asked the poet to leave the space.

    Ahmad Farhad replied, “Salman Ahmad, you are an illiterate man.”

    Farhad wrote on X (formerly Twitter) “In Twitter space, it was not Salman Ahmad, the singer of the Junoon band, who misbehaved me but someone else who was out of his mind; please correct.”

  • IHC declares Ahmad Farhad’s arrest illegal

    Islamabad High Court (IHC) has declared Kashmiri poet and activist Ahmad Farhad’s arrest to be illegal on Monday, ARY News reported.
    IHC said in a written order that Ahamad Farhad had been forcefully abducted from his residence in Islamabad, while security institutions failed to recover him.

    The court ordered that Ahmad Farhad should record his statement before the Lohi Bher magistrate after returning home.

    The court also ordered IHC registrar to combine all the cases of forced disappearance and submit them to the IHC’s Chief Justice.

    Court rejects poet Ahmad Farhad’s bail plea

    An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Muzafarabad has rejected the bail petition of Kashmiri poet Ahmed Farhad on Tuesday, one day after the court reserved a verdict after hearing arguments from both sides.

    The poet’s wife Urooj Zainab told journalists that she will challenge the court’s decision.

    “Details of why the bail was rejected were not disclosed,” she said addressing the press.

    The poet came into the spotlight when he went missing amid recent protests in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

    The Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP), Mansoor Usman Awan told Islamabad High Court (IHC) on May 29 that Kashmir police arrested Farhad after he went missing for 15 days.

    The poet’s wife, Urooj Zainab stated in a petition for her husband’s recovery that Farhad was allegedly abducted on May 14 from Islamabad.

    After the Islamabad High Court (IHC) was informed about the whereabouts of missing Kashmiri poet Ahmad Farhad, his family met him at a police station in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Wednesday.

    Earlier, the Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP), Mansoor Usman Awan, told the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that Kasmiri poet Ahmad Farhad had been found in the custody of Azad Jammu and Kashmir police.

    Farhad’s wife Urooj Zainab requested the IHC  to identify, investigate, and prosecute those responsible for her husband’s disappearance.

    Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard the petition filed by Urooj Zainab, while human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari is Zainab’s counsel in the case.

    A report by the DhirKot Kashmir police station was also presented before the court.

    During a hearing held on May 21, the AGP assured the court of efforts on the safe recovery of the missing poet.

    “[We] will do whatever it takes. [We] will rescue and recover [Farhad],” the AGP said while addressing the IHC judge and taking the responsibility to look into the matter.

    However, Justice Kayani directed the AGP to make sure that “no one gets picked up from Islamabad.”

    Islamabad High Court wants missing Kashmiri poet recovered in next four days

    The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the government on Tuesday to safely recover Kashmiri poet Ahmad Farhad.

    During the hearing, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani accepted Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan’s request to adjourn the hearing for the next four days and give time to the government to utilise resources for Farhad’s recovery.

    Justice Kayani asked the investigative officer about developments in the case. The officer told the court that he went to the spy agency’s office, but the sector commander was not there.

    Poet Ahmad Farhad abducted from his residence

    Well-known poet and media personality Ahmad Farhad has been abducted by unknown men on Wednesday from his house in Islamabad, his wife Ain Naqvi confirmed on X (formerly Twitter).

    Farhad’s wife wrote on X, “They broke the CCTV cameras of the house and took away the digital video recorder (DVR).”

    In another post on X, Ain Naqvi wrote that the police didn’t register  First Information Report (FIR) against her husband’s abduction.

    “My husband, Syed Farhad Ali Shah, was abducted from his house tonight at 1:03 am by unidentified men without warrants.”

    “These men broke into the house, damaged CCTV cameras, and took the DVR along with them. The unidentified men dragged him to a vehicle. There is no clue as to where he is taken,” Naqvi mentioned in her complaint.

    Naqvi also filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against Farhad’s enforced disappearance.
