Who are Sheheryar Munawar’s ‘most special people’?

With everything and everyone in lockdown and quarantine, we often find ourselves scrolling through our phone galleries and reminiscing about the happy moments we spent with our loved ones.

Sheheryar Munawar, who in his previous post made it clear that he was done with the coronavirus, in his latest post shared pictures of himself with his most special people. Among those people is director Asim Raza, Mahira Khan, Adeel Hussain, his Parey Hut Love co-stars Maya Ali, Zara Noor Abbas, Ahmed Ali Butt and Shahbaz Shigri and makeup artist Adnan Ansari.

“In these times of the lockdown, emotional highs and lows have become part of everyday life. Whenever I’m feeling a little low, going through old pictures always puts a smile on my face,” wrote the actor.

“I’ve always heard people say ‘A picture is worth a thousand words’, but since I’ve been missing human interaction like the deserts miss the rain (yes, being a little dramatic for effect here) I’ve discovered that ‘A picture is worth a thousand a thousand emotions a thousand memories’,” he wrote further before adding, “Sharing a few pictures of some special people. Some of whom where friends before they become colleagues and some colleagues who became friends…but all of them are now friends who are like family.”

  • Coronavirus: Shoot for Ahmad Ali Butt’s ‘Fatman’ postponed

Coronavirus: Shoot for Ahmad Ali Butt’s ‘Fatman’ postponed

Following a recent spike in coronavirus cases and the government’s appeal to practise social distancing, director Nabeel Qureshi has announced that he is postponing the shoot of his upcoming superhero film with Ahmad Ali Butt: Fatman.

The director took to social media to make the announcement.

Earlier while talking about the film, Ahmad had told The Current, “It’s a different and bold take on superhero films but at the core, it is a story about a father-son relationship.”

He added, “It also addresses body shaming, yet keeps the family factor in mind.”

Meanwhile, Nabeel had shared, “It’s a real-life superhero family entertainment film with a great message which talks about body shaming, with pun intended.”

Nabeel’s decision comes weeks after several big-budget Hollywood productions announced that they are postponing their shoots due to the coronavirus pandemic. Paramount Pictures delayed its plans for a three-week shoot of Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible 7 in Venice, Italy after coronavirus cases spiked in the country. The live-action remake of Little Mermaid, which was set to go before the cameras in the week of March 16 in London, has also been postponed. Netflix’s Red Notice starring Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds has also temporarily halted production in Atlanta for at least two weeks beginning March 16.

Other than that Deadline reported that The Matrix 4 has halted production in Berlin, The Batman starring Robert Pattinson has halted production for two weeks beginning March 14 after considering relocating production from London to Liverpool and Fantastic Beasts 3 will not begin production as scheduled on March 17 in London.

Meanwhile, the release of a string of movies including Mulan, No Time to Die, F9 and A Quiet Place Part II has also been delayed due to the pandemic.

Earlier, Nabeel recently wrapped up the shoot of his other film Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad featuring Mahira Khan and Fahad Mustafa.

  • Osman Khalid Butt throws shade on Ahmed Ali Butt over his claims on ‘Mera Jism Meri Marzi’

Ahmed Ali Butt’s take on the Aurat March and the slogan ‘Mera Jism Meri Marzi‘ has elicited strong reactions from all around. While there are some who agree with his comments that the Aurat March is a “foreign-funded movement”, others are calling him out for his ignorance and misuse of privilege.

Among those criticising Butt is Osman Khalid Butt who has been vocally advocating for the Aurat March on social media. Osman threw shade at his fellow actor without taking his name.

Other Twitter users also schooled Butt for his comments.

Ahmed Ali Butt makes outrageous claims about ‘Mera Jism, Meri Marzi’

Mera Jism Meri Marzi‘ has managed to ruffle more feathers than anything else and Ahmed Ali Butt has joined the bandwagon of those who are criticising the slogan without understanding it.

In a lengthy message posted to social media, Butt said while he has no sympathies for Khalil ur Rehman Qamar or Marvi Sirmed, he has even little sympathy for the “people who exploit the so-called ‘Mera J Mery XYZ’, adding that it is a western campaign. The actor stated that “When it comes to women’s rights, Islam has the most rights and respect for women.”

Shehzad Roy, Adnan Malik and activist Nayab Gohar Jan have perfectly explained the slogan for those who are still unable to understand the concept behind it.

Earlier, singer Quratulain Balouch had passed a problematic statement regarding the Aurat March. She later explained her comment after Twitter schooled her for it.

  • Jhooti: The drama that replaced ‘Meray Paas Tum Ho’

Jhooti: The drama that replaced ‘Meray Paas Tum Ho’

Meray Paas Tum Ho left some big shoes to fill. The Humayun Saeed-Ayeza Khan starrer received unprecedented success and was reported to be television’s highest-rated drama of all time. The serial wrapped up on January 25 and the next week on February 1, Iqra Aziz, Ahmed Ali Butt and Yasir Hussain’s Jhooti took over.

Much before its release, when the teasers of the drama were released, Jhooti had stirred up controversy for allegedly showing women in a bad light and portraying them as money-hungry, two-faced creatures and the first episode did nothing to change the perception.

The drama opened with the same-old storyline. Nirma’s (Iqra) parents want their daughter to get married and settle down. But the rebel daughter wants a better life for herself and doesn’t want to settle for the “useless” boys in her “poor” neighbourhood. She spends her days shouting or passing snide remarks to her family members. There are a lot of screaming sessions as Nirma clashes with her family over the rishtas that come for her. The only person who supports her is her father.

In comes Ahmed Ali Butt as Nasir, a simple man *yawn* madly in love with Nirma. He runs a small store in the neighbourhood and lives a fuss-free life. He comes over with his family with a rishta for Nirma. While Nirma herself rejects him by constantly calling him fat, her family thinks that he is a good choice for her. Eventually, Nirma’s partner in crime and equally vile friend advises her to marry Nasir only if he agrees to put his shop and house in her name. Interestingly Nasir’s parents agree to her condition and they come over to fix the date for the wedding when Nirma flips and tells them that she’s already rejected the proposal.

While the drama doesn’t appear to have anything new to offer as yet and is as regressive as it can get – I mean Nirma’s mother tells her that she cannot go to university because she needs to get married – the only department in which it excels is acting. Iqra has given a solid performance and you absolutely hate her at the end of the episode. The rest of the actors including Butt and Asma Abbas as Nirma’s mother put up commendable performances.

The drama has a bit of a negative vibe to it and reminds you of the over the top Star Plus sagas. But I’m going to watch a couple of more episodes before deciding whether the drama is worth watching or not.

Jhooti has been directed by Syed Ramish Rizvi and penned by Ali Moeen. It airs every Saturday at 8pm.

  • Ahmed Ali Butt criticises Meghan, Harry for their decision to ‘step back’ from royal duties

Ahmed Ali Butt criticises Meghan, Harry for their decision to ‘step back’ from royal duties

Ahmed Ali Butt has decided that he wants to share a few cents on Megxit.

In a social media post, Butt heavily criticised the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for their decision to step back as “senior members of the royal family and work to become financially independent.”

Butt said: “I don’t believe that because of media and family matters, you are stepping down from your birth responsibility.”

He continued that Meghan knew “very well what she was getting into” and that if she couldn’t handle the family drama, then she shouldn’t have “gotten through the fairytale wedding.”

He then turned his guns towards Harry and commented that the Prince should man up and “stop acting like a over sensitive kid.”

It is likely that Butt received flak for his comments which is why a few hours later, he shared this by English broadcaster and journalist Pier Morgans.

The Sussex’s decision to step back has sparked a royal drama and media reports suggest that member of the royal family including Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and Prince William are deeply upset with all that is happening.

Iqra Aziz, Yasir Hussain’s ‘Jhooti’ sparks outrage for trivialising domestic abuse

Iqra Aziz is returning to the silver screen with a new drama titled Jhooti. The drama also features her real-life beau Yasir Hussain as well as Ahmed Ali Butt, with whom she will be sharing the screen for the first time.

The trailer for the drama, directed by Ramish Rizvi, was released during Meray Paas Tum Ho‘s Episode 21 Saturday night. While the first teaser of the drama was intruiging as it showed Iqra playing a strong, resilient woman, the second teaser was the one which was problematic because it showed Iqra playing a woman who fakes being domestically abused. The teaser sparked outrage and drew the irk of netizens who took to social media to voice their frustation.

While the actors or makers of the drama have not yet responded to the controversy, speaking to a local media outlet earlier, Ahmed had shared that Iqra is playing the role of a compulsive liar and that the plot will focus on her character and how everything and everyone gets affected by her behaviour.
