Actor Ali Abbas, known for his diverse performances and verstile roles in the entertainment industry, is not very enthusiastic about working with his father, veteran star Waseem Abbas. Now we know the reason why.
During a recent appearance as a guest on ‘Nadan Mezban’, host Nida Yasir asked “Do you face difficulties working with your father?”
Ali Abbas replied, “I try not to work on the same drama with my father, but we have a deal that if we work on a script together, we won’t look each other in the eyes.”
“When we work together, I take a different approach. Recently, my father Waseem Abbas and I worked in a drama serial with intense scenes, which I found challenging to act out. His expressive eyes make it tough for me to separate our real relationship from the characters we play. I have so much respect for him that I struggle to argue with him, both on and off screen,” the Dil -e- Nadan actor added.
Actor Ali Abbas is well-known for his strong work ethic and professionalism. During an appearance on ‘Mazaq Raat’, his colleague and host Imran Ashraf revealed that Ali seems to attract a lot of female attention, and almost everyone he meets develops feelings for him. Imran was curious to understand why Ali always comes across as the good guy.
Ali said, “I have always respected women and I am very chivalrous around them, which warms everyone up around me. I am also very intense in romantic acting, but I make my co-stars comfortable. All these factors combined have endeared me to everyone.” Ali further shared, “I also have one-sided love, and that is for Mahira Khan. I have always admired the superstar since her days as a VJ, and that fan love will always remain.”
Actor Ali Abbas’ acting career kicked off with director Amin Iqbal’s drama Meri Dulari opposite Yumna Zaidi on Geo TV. He weighed 86 kilos before stepping into TV and lost around 9 kilos to look the part.
However Ali revealed on Nida Yasir’s morning show that on the first day of his shoot, the veteran director slammed him. According to the Meherposh star, Amin told him that he doesn’t look like a star and will never become one, also that he doesn’t have the qualities in him to be a leading hero. This incident dampened his confidence.
Now in an exclusive interview with The Current while promoting his movie Rehbra, Amin Iqbal responded to Ali’s allegations. The Ishq-e-Laa maker said, “The judgement could be wrong at times as I am a human too but whatever I have said about someone, it has become true. There is a difference between being a star and being an actor.
“I have introduced artists like Yumna Zaidi, Saba Qamar and Sameer Sohail from Lahore to the showbiz fraternity, even recently when I casted Azaan Sami Khan in Ishq-e-Laa, people scrutinised his casting in the play but respect and disrespect is in the hands of God.”
“I know his father and grandfather personally and have had good terms with him.”
Iqbal concluded by saying that now that Ali is in a better space career wise, it could be because of the remarks that Amin gave him early on his career as Abbas must have improved himself after it.

Ali Abbas and Ramsha Khan, who are currently sharing the screen opposite each other in Ghissi Piti Mohabbat, are cousins in real-life.
In a recent interview, Ali revealed that Ramsha is his first cousin.
“I don’t think a lot of people know this but Ramsha is my first cousin. She is my aunt’s daughter,” shared Ali. “Since childhood, we hung out – all the cousins – and she used to call me Ali Bhai.”
“Now there we were holding hands and we had to look into each other’s eyes and deliver all these lines [in Ghissi Piti Mohabbat],” he added.

“Then the ice broke, we sat down because we were destroying the scenes and we decided to put the cousinship aside and to focus on work,” he said further.
